Hi Ron....Yep, I am serious that the PRS boxcars are way too heavy
for my personal tastes. Thus, I only buy kits these days. Not a
complaint, mind you, but just the world as it is from my perspective.

I should have been more clear in my message that I was talking about
boxcars and not the ACF hopper. Sorry 'bout that. To make matters
worse, the ideal car weight (for me) is about 50-60% of the NMRA
standard weight. Y'see, I have broad curves, gentle grades, smooth
track and a desire to run long trains. Weight is counterproductive
to running long trains up hills, to put it mildly. Folks with sharp
curves and steep grades and bumpy track and short trains (under 20
cars) might feel a lot differently about weight. I am probably the
oddball here since I also use HO couplers without gladhand
modification, extra-strong magnets, low-weight cars, and some other
stuff that is definitely not the common way of doing things. And so
I suffer to some extent. Call me crazy if you like. Probably true.

But my main thrust here is that with a kit, my problems are solved
and it should be LESS work for the factory than building an RTR
product. Price 'em the same and that is fine with me. It ain't
about the money. It is about long trains. After all, this is the
mighty NYC and not some tiny shortline like the PRR.

Mr. Lane, Jr. has been known to be enticed with merchandise in
exchange for his many talents. Ask me how I know. Good luck.

Happy New Year. Working diagphragms in 2008?

Cheers...Ed L.
