Billy, et al; Yes, the error was mine. I needed my glasses changed. Now (with new glasses) I see that it is E-8 for sure. Bill Parr referred to them as E-8's in my phone conversation with him.
As far as paint scheme goes, Bill said they would look the same as the recent Lionel version of the Texas Special. MKT had one set of E-7s, several sets of E-8As, FP-7s, PA-1s, PA-2s, boiler equipped GP-7s and a couple boiler equipped F7Bs. Only the steam boiler equipped Baldwin H16-44s would be missing. Starting circa 1957 the original red, gray, and yellow paint scheme was phased out with a much more simple solid red with a yellow "Katy" embem on the nose and one on each side.
