Sam and I railfanned in Chicago's pouring rain yesterday. We caught
IC 6066, an original SD40 car body now upgraded to SD40-2 internals.
One stack train we observed had double stack cars with twin
20'containers on the bottom and a single 40' container on top. Don't
remember whether that was listed as routine or a rarity in Tom's
earlier post but I did notice it after reading all Tom's info – and I
always thought stack trains were boring!!

Speaking of 7" of rain, the basement housing DPV's layout did take on
a bit of water, but nothing serious. Chuck spread a few towels and
we ran trains anyway although every now and then you would hear
a "squish". Finally ran my turbine – SD40 set using two throttles
and a long train of modern cars – great fun!

Also converted four of the "dreaded" DPV FMC box cars from hirail/ AF
compatible (as advertised and delivered) to scale, took about 20
minutes for all four. Honestly, some of the posts whining about the
advertising photos take longer to read than just converting the darn
cars! BTW, they looked great behind the turbine - SD40 combo, thanks
Ron at Des Plaines!

Over the next couple weeks I want to complete the lettering on three
repainted SHS USRA rebuilds. They will now become NYC M&E cars, Lot
#679B for the true NYC 'geeks' out there.
