Whatever you wind up using for broken glass, don't forget you don't need a 
whole load to fill the freight car. You can always do as many folks have when 
filling a tender with coal. Use a wood or cardboard form / filler under the 
surface of the material. You can glue the "glass" on with white glue. May seem 
like an obvious thing, but I thought it helpful to mention.
