Welcome Mike,
   Not so long ago, I too came in from the dark side and know you will have few 
regrets !!!  LOL.  On a serious note, Tamalco Turnouts are the way to go, tho 
I'd thoroughly check them with a gauge as you spike them down as recommended. 
Any anomaly's are easy to remedy. I'm about to build a small exhibition layout 
and use "White Oak" switches that are absolute beauties and bullet proof. They 
were made over here in the UK but I believe you can find them in the US.
