I returned from Convention last night after spending a few days at the
Loizeaux B&B. So much of what I saw has been mentioned.

Thanks Peter for mentioning the need for photographing items that we
'might' need but are uncertain about. For those of us old timers who
might be able to identify all the items from the past and present, new
converts don't have that background. It takes a considerable effort to
keep new product coming and orders filled. I always thought I provided
a useful service to manufacturers by offering some help in that
direction, 'cause it's easy to ignore the advertising part. I built my
railroad from the profits from providing photo services to several
manufacturers but that seems to have ended and deemed no longer important.

Regarding the listing of the suppliers at the train show--I don't think
anybody has mentioned the Hunter Line. They were there with a fairly
large display of multi scale kits. Barr Mills also had some of their S
kits available.

I think some of the confusion regarding the sn3 layout built by the
McKenzie's was an attached plaque crediting PBL for something--not sure
what at this point. PBL did provide support to bring their modules to
Houston some time back, so their must be a close relationship.

Photos of the SD-45 and Fowler boxcar samples will appear in the
Dispatch. The boxcar will certainly find a home with me especially if
it's a kit!

I think the convention was a success overall, I got to meet some new
friends and many of the old guard. I think there were about a half
dozen from the Houston area attending. Obviously the greatest issue was
the lack of contest models even thought the two bridges seemed
excellently presented. Another small disappointment was, despite the
many S layouts there, an actual multi-line dealer. I know the booth
space cost was an issue, but this seems to happen time after time.
Either we have layouts or dealers but rarely both. So DesPlains was the
highlite in that department.
