Also, a lot of modelers, myself included, are not necessarily that thrilled 
with a lot of expensive, cast-on fragile superdetailing that really does little 
for operation. Those old inexpensive Athearn kits from the days of yore may be 
making a comeback if the prices for the new stuff keeps climbing.

Since when does a "successful" model railroad depend on the size of the 
investment in it? We don't all have an unlimited budget like Kalmbach, etc.
