  Hi Pieter, And it doesn't have to be a one or the other choice. One can 
always buy a few HO cars of things they like but can't find in S scale while 
still buying S stuff as it becomes available. N scale is great for building 
long trains on a narrow wall mounted display shelf for instance and an O scale 
car makes a nice one car display of some favorite prototype. I've got some 
models in O,S,HO,TT,and N scales but if everything was available in all scales 
my favorites would be S and TT based on their places in the size
