Hi Bob;

It is interesting that people feel they have to model the same scale as the
people with whom they socialize. While I'm lucky that there are two S round
robin clubs overlapping my area, I also have friends who model in HO, N and
On30. Others here have mentioned being in groups that cross scales.

The "Hiawatha"? There was a resin shell available in S, maybe you don't
remember because it was designed for the AF Atlantic drive. A good modeler
should be able to convert the AM Pacific drive to an Atlantic, or maybe
lengthen the Hiawatha shell to a Hudson type and use the Pacific drive with the
AM NYC Hudson trailing truck. Whether a new modeler will find out about the
existence of this product is another matter entirely. Of course, S scale
modelers are much more likely to either compromise on their prototype or find
ways to build what want than those in HO, N or O scales.
