Pieter,

Yes I'm sorry, I had a Rick Perry brain freeze regarding the resin
Hiawatha. I actually own one of the coaches--it's okay for the most
part--a 'some day' project with the Nystrom trucks being a major hangup.

When it comes to multi scale socializing, I know that Ed L. had many
from other scales building his layout, Chip Romig has had some help the
same way and I've offered and received help in that way. I have
operated locally on several layouts with guys from all scales, obviously
mostly HO. Even our live steam group have some extended sessions
lasting a couple of days. Operations is an extremely good way to lead
guys into S and is something we've seldom talked about. Except for the
Pines and Prairie bunch, Brooks, Chip in Dallas and the group that
operates Frank's layout we don't do that much that I'm aware of. I know
Ed Loizeaux and your's truly are making progress in that direction--I'm
darn close. We have local individuals who have smaller evening
sessions, then every year or two the Houston area hosts a multi-layout
two day event (I had to miss the last one as a guest and was pretty far
away as a host). Then there are some large events that bring in guests
from all over the country...face it you have to be pretty serious if
you're going to spring for air fare, motels etc. for a weekend of
running trains. However some guys seem to live for those type
meets...and these are all 'scale blind'.
