 Haha, The other scales already have them but with real metal rails. :>) 
  Seems like the CVT turnout kits would be a natural for S scale. The HO guys 
have so many choices in ready to run switches that they don't need the CVT kits 
while S guys have little choice so would embrace them?
  I guess I view battery power as a solution looking for a problem as I've 
never had any trouble with rail provided power. Some things like cell phones 
cry out for battery power but when toy trains never leave their metal fixed 
guideways it seems like making them carry around their own stored energy supply 
is a step backwards in design. ...DaveBranum
