I confess, that I don't know much about American HiRail, but what I've seen looked good enough considering the way they were made--we had talked about the expanding molds a few months ago. I've always been told the gentlemen who makes up the engines was a commercial pilot and only sold his products at one show. So I've never had the privilege of meeting him.

However, if the drive is a Railmaster, American Models, Amerian HiRail, SHS/MTH, NWSL or something cobbled together it's seems like only a minor part of the problem. The main shell and even more importantly, the truck sideframes seem to be the major issue in getting something like this going. After that our various casting guys will be able to make the smaller parts if they see the need. Obviously if this was done in an organized manner it hence would become a complete engine.

I believe you mean American Models, Bob. And I would agree that producing shells to fit their drives could probably be a vailable business.

American HiRail is either no longer in business, or is taking a very long sabatical. AHR offered "blown up" resin HO shells, usually designed to fit on Flyer chassis, but could be fitted with a scale drive. AHR did make his own power truck, either HiRail or Scale, but the one's I have in a pair of their RDC's don't have a lot of pulling power.
