The only NG Ry that I know of that used full size couplers was the later year DRGW to more easily mate with the SG. On older couplers only the knuckle height was different. The knuckle was the same upper and lower dimension as its hinge on the type D and before. The type E has an "extended knuckle". To get a type D from a Sergant, saw off the upper and lower extensions.
