As I recall, AM originally sent out its Baldwin switchers with the low speed 
worm as standard, naïvely thinking purchasers would use switchers to switch.  
But a lot of our brethern "across the aisle" just wanted to race them around 
the layout like all their other AF, and AM soon corrected its mistake and made 
the low speed (half speed) worm optional.

I think if I had an AM loco dedicated to switching a yard, be it a Baldwin 
switcher, GP9 or RS3. I'd want the low speed worm.
