Bob, Roger: The round axle bearings may have a tendency to spin in the alignment slots, if that matters. Maybe that's why the change to D bearings was made. (Some of my AM GPs have round bearings and actually they don't spin.) The more important difference from a retrofitting standpoint is that the two types have different diameters (.130" for the round and .150" for the D bearing). And of course that means different sizes of alignment slots in the gearboxes.
NWSL told me yesterday that the replacement geared wheel sets listed in their catalog use the larger bearings. The replacements are round, 3.9 mm (.154") in diameter, providing a snug fit in the later style alignment slot. The stock part could be used in the older gearbox by enlarging the alignment slot which is what AM did. NWSL may have something on hand that would just drop into the smaller alignment slot. If not it seems they are able to make just about anything to order. Will Quinn In [email protected], Bob Werre <bob@...> wrote: Okay Roger, now you have me wondering--why the different types. Seems as though one is as good as the others. ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
