In the model railroad sense, scale is a mathmatical relationship in regards to
a reduction in size to the prototype.
For example:
River Raisin is 3/16" = 1 foot "scale."
American Models is 3/16" = 1 foot "scale."
(Most) American Flyer is 3/16" = 1 foot "scale."
The difference between the three above examples however, is in FIDELITY and
RESOLUTION.
