Ed, when we ask what is a scale layout/scale equipment, I think you may have to 
ask how much of it is SCALE.. Is a scale layout 100%, 90%, 80%, or less. For 
instance if you say I have a 100% scale layout, and you' re using an S-helper 
switcher...then you are not at 100% because the switcher railing around the 
pilot area is prototypically too thick to be 100% scale. This is not a knock on 
our old favorite manufacturer, it only points out that even the best SCALE 
plastic train maker in our scale is not true100% scale dimensions. So, do you 
say "I'm happy with a 95% or a bit less scale layout." Hummm.
