 Yes.  I saw this problem when drawing spheres, and made a random change to
 "fix" it.  Search for "Make mysterious correction for Z edges" in the
 code.  This may be a different problem with a similar symptom; or it may
 be the same problem, and my previous change was horribly wrong.  (But it
 did appear to fix the problem in the spheres I was drawing.)
