 Interesting. I took a look at some plots sans your correction, and it
 looks like it might be the same species of bug -- the plots have a kind of
 ripple distortion, radiating outward from a pole. Your change was not
 wrong, however, or at least its removal did not affect any other bugs.

 Is there anyone more knowledgeable about marching cubes and JVXL who is
 willing to work on this bug? I will do what I can. I'd like to see
 implicit_plot3d in Sage in the near future!
