 The stopgap looks fine to me. However, it doesn't scale well to generating
 videos or APNG files. So if someone decides that my branch isn't going to
 make it to the next release, then I'm giving your small change a positive
 review. But that would mean I'll probably have to rebase the branches for
 several other tickets, so at the moment I hope someone will review my own
 more extensive modifications.

 Could you elaborate on your concerns there?
