 Strange indeed. As I mentioned, on one of my machines I had to try
 installation a second time. In this case, I think the problem was that the
 installation took more than 50% of the memory, but the machine was busy
 with differnt things, so it failed. But it resulted in an error during the
 installation, as it should!

 Did you delete the copy of the package in spkg/optional before
 reinstallation? Then I could imagine that the download for the first
 installation was corrupted. Anyway, good that it works now.
