Oh, I see. Well, then I cannot answer the question as I do nto understand
what the gap code does.

Nothing better than that, and the name is so ugly that it might as well be
a hidden 'helper' function `:-/`
Isn't there a group-theoretic notion that would 'mean the same'? `:-/`
