Breaking news: I have succesfully built Sage 4.5.2.alpha0 from scratch
with all the updates so far (without any trace of the old PARI package).
This means that no other spkg's have to be fixed.
So I think the TODO list reduces to:
1. Fixing the remaining doctest failures.
2. Testing on as many platforms as possible.
3. Reviewing everything and cleaning up.
I can help with the first and third of these, but not really the second.
