I assumed you updated the source code, since the svn number is
incremented. This unfortunately fails for me now

That is on a Sun Ultra 27 running !OpenSolaris. Pari builds fine, but
fails the self-tests.

passes all tests. Could the issue be that John's patches which stop a
couple of the tests running, are no longer integrated? (I believe he added
them as there is no database here, so some tests will fail).
