 ok. Since I had some time this afternoon I build a version of
 sage-1.4.3.alpha1 (which also has networkx-1.2.) on my machine, applied
 the packages, the patch, rebuild the source with sage -ba and everything
 worked fine!

 ....
 sage -t -long devel/sage-numpy/doc/en/a_tour_of_sage/index.rst
          [23.1 s]
 sage -t -long devel/sage-numpy/doc/en/thematic_tutorials/group_theory.rst

 All tests passed!
 Timings have been updated.

 So networkx-1.2 works!

 For Info: I use Ubuntu 10.04 on my machine.
 So I think it would still be good if someone else would test it
