The newly attached patch looks good (you changed even things I did not
mention :) ), except for you now add {{{$OPTIMZATION_FLAGS}}} twice (if
{{{SAGE_DEBUG!="yes"}}}), the second time again overriding user settings,
and also {{{-Wall}}} is '''ap'''pended to {{{CFLAGS}}} s.t. it can't be
disabled by the user.
As far as I can see, {{{$CONF_FLAGS}}} passed to {{{./configure}}} aren't
set anywhere, so we could drop that. (Otherwise a value from the global
environment might unintentionally be used.)
