 OK guys.  Either:

 1) approve what is available now and works, even if it is not exactly the
 way you would like to see it done, and start a new ticket to get things
 done all inside python.

 2) insist that things must be done all inside python.  If that is the
 case, I cannot tell you how long it will take to get things working.
 Assuming things work as they are supposed to it will take at least until
 Monday or Tuesday for me to have enough time to properly test everything
 before putting up patches.  If I re-encounter the kinds of problems I had
 with the subprocess routines before it might take even longer.
