Good Morning All,

I'd like to contribute if I may. Thus far from what I've seen on the various
threads everyone is in favour of the merge (yes there are some "challenges",
but overall).

What I sense is a lacking in actual project management. (btw I might be wrong
here, this is just my general feeling)

We have here several highly talented and gifted coders (Steve, Fulvio,
Gregor...) that in my view are aiming at the same objectives.

I believe, what needs to happen here is the creation of a structure. Like in so
many other projects there is a clear structure of who's doing what and when.

Again, I'd cite several projects here, but I believe all of you know of
examples.

If everyone is on board, which they seem to be in one way or another, please,
please, coordinate your efforts or, get together, (again, via IRC or any other
established method, I believe this is actually crucial in an open source
project) and discuss.

Get a consensus and ultimately a way forward.

I for one have no problem offering my time to coordinate and admin the project,
being the minute taker, or the facilitator in this project. It's just an
extension of my day job :)

Bottom line, everyone here has a passion for this project (whether it's scid,
scidvspc, etc) the things I see here are niggles, easily overcome by
communication and coordination.

Anyway, once again my 10p :)

And guys, have a good weekend!

Best Regards,

J

Thanks for the olive branch Fulvio. I realise it must be hard to face having
some of your privilidges/code removed. But as the only person here who
knows all this project, i can state that there is no merging the code.
There is only a merging of resources, sadly that is the reality of this
big project. Gregor also knows this project. He agrees with me.

Let me clear again - Alex contacted me asking how i would merge and
manage the project. I stated to him what i have stated in this thread.
He said to me "go" and gave me Project admin rights -
but now he has changed his tune. So for the time being, the merge seems off.

Alex, i understand your change of heart. You admit to not being very technically
informed, and you don't have a steely will. So please get back to me when
yous have made up your mind.

Fulvio - you are a great technical coder - the best here, and Scid
would still be a slow clunker without you - but your project is filled
with bugs, and you don't have a good a clue about making a good interface :)
As is obvious from most everyones response here except yours,
this project needs my codebase and interface.

cheers, Steve
