I have been thinking recently about an election due in Australia in
September. The incumbent government is seriously on the nose, and now
the government ministers, and particularly the Prime Minister, are
making all sorts of promises about what they will bring in the future if
elected for another term.

I think most electors will judge the government, not on what it promises
for the future, but how it's handled the past.

And so with software projects. There have been more than two years since
the last release of SCID, two years during which users have had to put
up with some pretty annoying bugs.

In contrast, scidvspc has had problems fixed and regular releases. Of
all the current SCID developers, I can only identify one who has done
anything to support either project.
