Re: [Dx4win] Identity QSOs missing from LoTW
Jim,It was with great fear and trepidation that I followed your instructions to the T.Even after I had safely saved my log away I still hesitated deleting all QSOs from the log...When the process was complete I had 181 QSOs not previously uploaded that I was able to submit to LoTW. There were a few additional that I didn't have a valid certificate for that were from a previous call. This yielded 18 QSLs 3 of which were new band slots. Notes on your notes: In step 11 you must clear the fields (no filters or searches) or it will not clear all the flags. It took a few hit and miss attempts before I had all the right fields cleared. Re: [Dx4win] LOTW Not Found in Log
I have had this happen multiple times. 90% of the time it is a stateside call that signed mobile or portable during the QSO. Then they upload the log as fixed. So it looks like LoTW will confirm a QSO if one party logs as /M and the other does not so long as the other data is correct. I have never seen this on a DX QSO so no big deal for me. It might be important for someone working on a WAS award. 73 AD6ZJ, Loren From: John Shaw To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2012 4:09 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] LOTW Not Found in Log Use the last item under the LOTW menu "review QSOs not found" I can almost guarantee they are in your log but some of the information doesn't match. Re: [Dx4win] Problem with LOTW and DX4WIN listing comparison?
Jim,The problem with doing this is it wants to submit even for countries that have already been checked if they were submitted and checked as LoTW QSLs previously. I just had both a paper and LoTW awards completed last month so my new confirmed is under 25 or so. Everything else is marked as "Checked". I un-clicked the LoTW box and did a Submission report. It came up with 66 new ones to submit. Doing it the other way around (LoTW selected and paper not) doesn't fare any better with 266 new ones... What I thought was odd (even buggy) was that even if a band/mode was marked as "checked" in the DXCC award field DX4WIN still put it on the list if it had been checked as LoTW. So I think this isn't what he was looking for. I think if you want to submit one or the other it is a manual operation. When I couldn't find a way to do it separate I just did them both at the same time. By the way - I submitted the new style "online" form for my paper QSLs on the first day it was available. I had updated numbers on the LoTW page in less than 2 weeks and my certificate in less than 3 weeks. So I like the new system. Good going DXCC awards team! 73Loren, AD6ZJ " No program. But if you go into the Awards manager (File | Awards), and on the DXCC tab, in the upper-left box, uncheck LoTW (so only QSL is checked), and perform the DXCC submission, then DX4WIN will only try to submit paper QSLs, even if you also have a LoTW confirmation. Re: [Dx4win] On-line DXCC Application is up
Bob, The only change you will see for LoTW is when you submit for an award. There is no longer an option to have cards checked as a hybrid. The final pages of the process are simpler. I just submitted last night for my 12M DXCC (and a pile of band countries) and it is already showing as completed. Very fast now. 73 Loren From: R.T.Liddy To: DX4WIN Reflector Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2012 9:16 AM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] On-line DXCC Application is up The new procedure looks like an on-line forms completion system to standardize the card-checking procedure for the Checkers. Use the Import ADIF tab to import your ADIF file." Here's how you can do this in DX4WIN: First, peferform a DXCC Submission from the Reports menu (see http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/dxcc.html for help) To export ADIF, you will have to use an F8 search. Make sure your QSO window is fully expanded (using F5) so the Award Flags are visible at the bottom. Now, if you are submitting any credits for the DXCC Mixed award, use F8 to search for 'S' in the "DXCC Mixed" Award flag. Then File | Import/Export, and after making sure ADIF is selected, File | Export. DX4WIN will ask if you want to use the current active filter. Answer YES. Once that's done, do the same for your DXCC Band and DXCC Mode submissions. Make sure you don't over-write the ADIF files you create before uploading them to the ARRL server (i.e. don't save them all to the same file name). I can't tell if the application will let you upload multiple ADIF files, or if you only get one shot. Maybe someone who does this can add more details, and this can be added to the DXCC application note. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, , http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

The Award Manager (File | Awards) is configured by default to accept either QSL or LoTW confirmations for DXCC. Do not mix them up, i.e.. don't use the QSL "Cnfm" field to confirm LoTW contacts, etc. You'll never be able to straighten this out. You may want to read this app. note as well: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/lotw.html The comparison program only works if the DXCC award flags in your DX4WIN log are set to Checked (or Submitted). Manually set the DXCC mixed and/or band and/or mode flags to 'S' for any DXCC credit that you submitted via LoTW. This may or may not help: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/dxcc.html There is just no good way to track LoTW submissions if done entirely from the LoTW web site (i.e. outside of DX4WIN). There is no way to download the submission status into DX4WIN. I still haven't changed my 2010 submissions to Checked, nor have I "submitted" my 2011 credits, which were done entirely through LoTW (about 50 credits). I do need to do this, and I have detailed notes that I took *during* the LoTW submission process as to exactly which QSOs were submitted for which credits. [Dx4win] TS-480 best choice to set radio interface
I have a TS-480SAT and am just getting it setup as my second rig on DX4WIN. I had it set as a TS870 and it was working. I guess the TS870 doesn't have 6M since when I try to click on a spot it says bad frequency for radio. Now down in the QSO entry field it happily displays the correct 6M frequency. Is there a better radio to set it as? [Dx4win] closing and re-opening the packet window
Occasionally I click the "Connect" button in the packet window and select a node that is off-line or something. I just get nothing in the packet window. At that point I try another but since it already thinks it is connected nothing happens. So I close DX4WIN, re-open and select my second choice and I'm in. Is there a way to do all this without exiting the program? 73 AD6ZJ, Loren __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] merge question
Steve, Wow! I had the same problem when I switched to DX4WIN in January. The Freeware software dumped the oldest QSO when I made a new entry. Thanks to LoTW I was able to recover the whole thing. First start with a new log file and then import all those LoTW files into it. After you are satisfied it is OK, make a backup of your main log and put it in a safe place just in case. Now import the log you created from the LoTW log. Choose to ignore duplicate QSOs. This is what I did and everything was recovered. 73 AD6ZJ, Loren --- On Thu, 3/31/11, Steve K7AWB wrote: > From: Steve K7AWB > Subject: [Dx4win] merge question > To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net > Date: Thursday, March 31, 2011, 7:41 PM > A friend has his DX4WIN log which may > be missing several thousand QSOs due to an error in a > previous competitive program (made before the transfer to > DX4WIN as the new main logging program now). Re: [Dx4win] Missing LoTW Confirmations
Dusty, It might be that your award setup does not have the LoTW box checked. In this case only paper QSLs would show. On the pull down menus go to "File->Awards" Go to the DXCC pane. In the upper left box see that LoTW is checked. Do this also for the WAS pane. I think the default has them set to off but not sure. Re: [Dx4win] Check your CW Cutoff frequencies (30m might be wrong)
Yes, and if I move the cutoff to the top of 30M then all the RTTY posts show as CW and clicking on them puts the rig in CW mode. It would be nice if the clusters would add a mode field. I agree. Having a second cutoff would be good. I keep getting these 30M spots showing as SSB and not RTTY. Since I will never have a QSO on 30M SSB it would be good to switch to RTTY. That would be very useful to have built in. What I did (and it seems to work) was to choose a different COMM port for the CW. Now to use the CW or PSK I need to change COMM ports back but I don't need to exit the program after using MMTTY. This works as long as I close MMTTY before changing preferences. Re: [Dx4win] DXCC submission band/mode question
Jim, I think the issue is that the "Submitted" flags which were erroneously set a few weeks ago have not been cleared. So I go to "Reports>Award Flags>Clear submitted" and I do this for mixed then band then mode. So after doing all of this I do a "Reports>Listing" and there are still multiple "S" flags showing up. So the "Clear Submitted" doesn't seem to be working. [Dx4win] DXCC submission band/mode question
I am trying to set DX4WIN (8.04) to properly submit for DXCC. Under App notes I found the following: "This step makes a list of confirmed QSOs that will add to your various DXCC Award totals. It's important to have your station and DXCC Award preferences set up correctly before you do this." The problem is I can't find a way to set things up so as to not submit every band/mode combination. For instance, I have JA Awarded on SSB (10M) and on 80M (CW). When I do a report for submitted I get an 80M SSB QSO showing up in the list. Since DXCC isn't band/mode specific (DXCC is band specific OR mode specific), the awards desk will indicate 80M and SSB have already been Awarded. Re: [Dx4win] CW Keyboard
I have a similar problem using the MMTTY engine and the PSK/CW function. I'm using an FT1000MP with a Microham USBII interface. By default I can't figure a way to use them all on the same comm port. DX4WIN wants to own the port. What I was doing was to launch MMTTY first and then DX4WIN (generating a COMM port in use error). I did this whenever I used RTTY. Since I don't use the CW keyboard I was only using the PSK PTT line. So I shifted the CW/PSK interface to a non-connected comm port. Mel, Thanks. That did it. The mode field is no longer grayed out and I can change it. I hadn't set the CW cutoff on that band so I went to preferences and adjusted the CW cutoff. I then clicked the spot again. This time it went to SSB as expected but the "SSB" was grayed out in the QSO window again. I double checked it, when you change your rig preferences it un-clicks the "ignore mode in Real-Time" box. Re: [Dx4win] 30M spots jump to USB when clicked
Well, I blindly followed some advise. I think some good some not good. This was set wrong for 30M so I changed it: "Also, be sure that CW Frequency cutoff is accordingly for 30 meters and all other bands. This is located at FILE|PREFERENCE|QSO. " Unfortunately I also did this: "Just go to FILE|DATABASES|RADIOS|YAESU FT1000MP|VALUES|MODEVALUES|CW|READ:2|WRITE:3|FILE|SAVE CHANGES AND EXIT." Now when I double click on a spot the log field is correct but the radio doesn't change. So I have broke the link for setting frequency on the rig. I did not right the values down before changing them (what was I thinking). There are 4 fields Read 2, 255 and Write 3,255 in the CW field. Now the odd part is, this is all I changed and now I no spots move the dial on the rig. I didn't mess with anything in SSB and yet double click a SSB spot and no change at the rig. Again, 8.04 FT1000MP. Thanks for help. [Dx4win] 30M spots jump to USB when clicked
In the DX Spot window: When I double click a 30M spot my rig switches to USB. It doesn't matter how low in the band, it always goes USB. So far this is the only band I have seen this on. I figured it could be based on the mode selected by the spotter so I found some stateside spotters just to be sure. Still jumps to USB Is there a way to set this to CW? Re: [Dx4win] QSL label marking question
Bud, No, that doesn't do it. Specifically - Lets say I have USA confirmed on 80M/CW but I have worked 3500 USA stations on 80M/CW. Since I have the band/mode confirmed I don't want to blanket send out QSL cards. Using QSL --> Mark -->band/mode gets me all 3500! I would have expected 0. If I use the report generator I get the correct result of 0. Now lets say I need Fiji on 80M/SSB and have worked Fiji 2 times on 80M/SSB and have not sent cards. If I filter to just 3d2 80M/SSB the QSL-->Mark-->band/mode they both get marked. If I have the same filter selected but use the report generator I still get the same 2 calls marked. So I can do what I want but the help menu lead me down the wrong path. 73 Loren --- On Tue, 1/11/11, Bud Semon N7CW wrote: From: Bud Semon N7CW Subject: RE: [Dx4win] QSL label marking question To: ad...@sbcglobal.net, dx4win@mailman.qth.net Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 1:17 PM Loren, If you set the filter for only unconfirmed QSOs, does that get you what you want? Re: [Dx4win] QSL label marking question
Jim, OK, that is how I thought it should work but it doesn't. I saved a backup log so I can test. On 80M I have 22 QSOs not marked for a label. I do the following: F8 - Select 80M and hit return. My logbook is only showing 80M QSO's I then select: QSL --> Mark QSL --> band/mode. The dialog says mark up to 3775 QSO. I click OK and it marks 1756 of them. I would expect the number to be around 22. I then tried the same thing but this time selected: I then select: QSL --> Mark QSL. The dialog says mark up to 3775 QSO. I click OK and it marks 1551 of them this time. S it looks like its marking every QSO that is not confirmed even if I have that band slot confirmed with another call. When I do the same thing under reports I get the 22 label flags set as expected. In both cases I had the 80M filter set and in both cases it only flagged 80M QSOs for Labels. So it looks like the one under "QSL" is when you want to send everyone a card and the one under "Reports" is for for targeting new ones. This is not what the programs help file states. So once again, I have figured out how to do something but don't know if it is the correct way... 73 AD6ZJ, Loren --- On Tue, 1/11/11, Jim Reisert AD1C wrote: From: Jim Reisert AD1C Subject: Re: [Dx4win] QSL label marking question To: ad...@sbcglobal.net Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 1:06 PM On Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at 1:55 PM, Loren Hunt wrote: > When I try (as the help screen states) "QSL --> Mark QSL" it wants to select > every QSO in the log, confirmed or not. They do different things, as you have discovered. You want the function in the Reports menu. That filters the QSOs to mark by that award's needed list. Use the first one if you already have a filter active, i.e. use F8 to choose 40M and RTTY, then QSL | Mark for QSL will set the label flags for all QSOs on 40m RTTY only. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, , http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] Working with LoTW
Charles, New to the program but what I have been doing is pulling all my logs into DX4WIN. If you import an ADIF from a contest logger (or wherever) the LoTW flag is not automatically set. If however you import into a new log you can set all QSOs LoTW import flag. In the search window (F8) hit return with no call entered. Your logbook will show all QSOs. Use the pulldown Menu for LoTW and select "Set LoTW upload flag". After that you can merge you files together with another import. If your preferences are correct, any QSO entered in DX4WIN will set the flag when your enter the QSO. Once the LoTW flag is set the date field will be updated automatically when you select "Export for LoTW" in the LoTW pulldown. You then get a popup asking if you want to clear the flags. Select "Yes" and the date fields are updated as the flags are cleared. A real nice feature.
