Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.5.2 beta test
BBC Apps and web site originally only went back 7 days so the external feed matched. Then everything else got upgraded to 30 days and the external feed we use got left as it was. I don't believe it was any more complicated than that, apart from possible complications that third party(ies) seem to be involved in maintaining the external feed and may not have wanted to do any work to upgrade it. There may also have been concerns that some third party equipment couldn't handle 30 days of data on the external feed, maybe enough new hardware is out there now that this is no longer a concern? Personally I suspect some of the third party hardware manufacturers that use the external feed pushed for this. They probably didn't like that BBC Apps and web site could do 30 days and their internet radio hardware players could not. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Tidal stopped working on LMS + SB Touch
With regard to what's changed and by whom, I have no clear idea. Maybe (speculating) Tidal made a change to their streaming settings requiring SSL/TLS encryption and the by now rather old SW in the Touch cannot cope with that? (But pCp and LMS server SW can.) That might very well be the case: the devices themselves can't do SSL/TLS. But LMS can. By proxying through LMS, the latter functions as the SSL endpoint, streaming http to the devices. Unfortunately this is not possible when streaming through mysb.com directly. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I think BBC's 2-3yr plans have been subverted by popular expectation of internet. The feeds Extra used were cut down severely a few years ago and BBC said it would be discontinued as it was difficult to maintain. The "Latest" stuff is a hack. Nitro is used by phone/tablet apps but I think T for acceptable use by 3rd parties are hard to make and police as API has the potential to overwhelm BBC servers. BBC used to object to user downloading programs - yet they are now advocating it with downloadable Podcasts of many programs not just a select few. The original feed had only 7 days - I think BBC imposed this at the time perhaps to give their won web and apps an "edge" or perhaps they had copyright issues. Surprisingly, the feed EXtra uses still has more program than the BBC iPlayer feed mainly from the international services such as Nepal, Afrique etc. Also Extra can go back further than 30 days. So I think it is mostly redundant but it requires no effort to maintain. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106409 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I posted separately (but don't wish to upset Micheal) that I'm having problems with Tidal. In my case I log onto Tidal, select a track, and nothing happens other than a strange 'stuttering' where the track time jumps between zero and a few seconds, then jumps back to zero again. If I then log onto another app (such as Radio Paradise) for a few seconds, then go back to Tidal, it works fine. Very strange. I have updated the test (V1.5.4.*) and release (V1.5.3) repo URLs to enable user update the plugin easily. For users migrating from 1.5.3 - an additional feature under the "More menu" is a segment index to "Listen Again" programs and the ability to jump to a particular segment. User of older version of 1.4 and 1.5 will have to update their repo URLs to get V1.6.0. Up to this week (17Sep18) only 7 days of programming available. The updated BBC feed has 30 days of programming. Some users may like to have more than 7 days programming even though it can be cluttered if 30 days are shown. A level of customisation has been added to the plugin. The following URL demonstrates menu variants on Radio 4menu. Use the BBCiPlayer plugin settings to replace the default menu and afterwards revert. http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bpaplugins/menu-R4variants-demo.opml For the technical user who wish to customise their own menus via the menu.opml file - the keys points are * the options are added at the end of the "parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayer::BBCXMLParser?" as shown below. * the main options are bykey (programs names) and byday (program schedule). Omit "byday" and there will be no schedule of programmes. Ok, thanks. I'll take a closer look on my Touches. Funny though this problem isn't affecting my SB Classic which also connects to MSB.com and plays Tidal with no problem at all. webjanne's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68435 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109461 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I use a local LMS server on my home network, not the mysqueezebox.com (although I believe you need to have Tidal enabled and credentials set there) for streaming. The setting I was referring to is on the local LMS server web page, under Settings, tab Player, select player and the select "Sound" (I think, I have a swedish version that says "Ljud" instead), There is a setting for Streaming with two possible choices: Direct or Proxied. 25655 I do not know how you set that if your player is connected to mysqueezebox.com instead. Somewhere in the settings directly on the Touch probably. With regard to what's changed and by whom, I have no clear idea. Maybe (speculating) Tidal made a change to their streaming settings requiring SSL/TLS encryption and the by now rather old SW in the Touch cannot cope with that? (But pCp and LMS server SW can.) +---+ |Filename: LMS settings player Ljud.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25655| +---+ BosseJ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67378 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109461 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

webjanne wrote: > I wanna try that too but how can I enter the proxy address when > connecting to MSB.com? If your player is connected to mysqueezebox.com you don't need to set the proxy address- your player already knows :-) But then I never use mysqueezebox.com directly, I always use a local LMS server on my home network and all my players (2 Touch, 1 pCp) connect to that. So when when I set proxied streaming for a player it uses my local LMS. BTW, my second Touch had the same problem so I changed to proxied streaming for that one too. Worked fine, Tidal music streamed. As you noted above, it's difficult to reproduce the "fault" without ready access to know region-restricted streams. But to at least bed down when I am so far, I did a systematic run though of all my ways of accessing Beeb radio via LMS, both with and without VPN, using R3 as the test bed. I also checked beforehand that this laptop, sitting in Paris, can get direct website access to almost all BBC TV and radio with the VPN active, and a lot of it without the VPN. But, without the VPN, region restrictions - particularly on TV stuff, do kick in. Anyway here - at some length! - is what I found. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Annouce: Squeeze Control, a squeezebox remote app, is now available for Android
I posted this in the Windows UWP thread, wrong place. So re-posting here: SqueezeCntrl has started to revert to the primary player when the Android device has blanked screen or gone to sleep. My main player is a Transporter; a secondary player is a Touch. I often use the Touch for close listening away from the rest of the family. When I select the Touch and am listening to music, my mobile (on which SqueezeCntrl is located) will after a few minutes blank screen or go to sleep. When I start it up, SC has reverted to the default player, the Transporter, and I have to re-select the Touch, go to My Music and select the current track to get back to where I need to be. This is quite annoying. What can I do to fix? I can't seem to find anything in the controls. I, too, tried the Angry Goat info address, and got the "can't connect" message. Currently the opml entries parser attributes have an option to sort byday and reverse order - I'd just add one more to say have max number of days (excl Today) - so 7 would be same as now. Code: parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayer::BBCXMLParser?byday" I use this sort of filter on station Id in Extra plugin Code: parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayerExtra::ExtraAtoZJSONParser?filter:stationid=radio1" The same features such as byday and reverse could have been done by settings but although people ask for settings they rarely use them afterwards. On request I've implemented settings in the past, then accidentally broken them - and nobody complained ! bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

May I request a user configurable 'day limit' ? Reason is that my poor old SheevaPlug will totally grind to a halt with 30 day listings. As might some other older NAS. I've been leery in the past of adjusting XMLin in case there are unexpected 'side effects' on other parts of the structure. But I haven't looked at it in ages, and I always forget quite how it works. I did start to look at the BBC regular schedule listings. There's a nice bit of JSON embedded in the html at present, which could be helpful. Perhaps food for future thought. Code: #!/usr/bin/perl use LWP::Simple; use JSON::PP; use Data::Dump; my $channel_id = 'p00fzl7j'; # Radio 4 FM my $schedule_date = '2018/w37'; $schedule_date = 'last_week'; $schedule_date = 'this_week'; my $url = "https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/${channel_id}/${schedule_date};; my $html = get($url); # thanks to get_iplayer my $blob = $1 if $html =~

To add to my own post ... I found this in the server log from yesterday (Tidal plugin set to DEBUG in logging): Code: [18-09-16 21:53:31.6518] Slim::Plugin::WiMP::ProtocolHandler::handleDirectError (95) Direct stream failed: [403] HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden (but only one occurrence strangely enough, I played many tracks) Maybe it is similar to the BBC plugin woes? The stream suppliers have disallowed the use of non-SSL/TLS and SSL2/3 & TLS1 since all these are vulnerable to the Heartbleed exploit? Next on the list is adding dates. Then check all the feeds and the corner cases and look for any other "changes" - this takes longest. However the real world needs attention so it'll be this evening before I put out an update. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Tidal stopped working on LMS + SB Touch
All have worked well until last week when suddenly Tidal refused to play. I can get into Tidal, search for music but when I press Play the playbar starts to move, no sound and after about 7 seconds I get a message saying something like "connection was reset by local host".
