[Bug 1705864] Re: Nautilus no longer starts (again)
No, I haven't yet reinstalled the operating system. It's VERY tempting, due to the accumulation of bugs over time that happens on a computer, but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to operate without my main computer for the 2 weeks that it takes to reinstall the operating system, applications, and configure everything again. Yes, the last time I had this issue was yesterday. I don't know of any way to make Nautilus start functioning again other than rebooting the computer. Note that this particular bug is not common. ie. It doesn't occur every day. It happens every couple of weeks on average. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705864 Title: Nautilus no longer starts (again) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1705864/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1715521] Re: Video not shown in full in VLC, although shows correctly in YouTube
Hm. You are right. I watched the same original video using `totem` application, and it does indeed show my full screen. It must be something to do with VLC settings, but I've just spent some time looking through VLC settings, and trying some changes, but I haven't found what causes a video to appear like this. This bug report can be closed. Sorry. Now I'll have to find out what's going on in my VLC settings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1715521 Title: Video not shown in full in VLC, although shows correctly in YouTube To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1715521/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1715521] [NEW] Video not shown in full in VLC, although shows correctly in YouTube
Public bug reported: Yahoo! Mail was not working this morning, because Yahoo had carried out an "upgrade". For that reason, I decided to record the fault using application "recordMyDesktop". I did that, and when I played the resulting .ogv video back in VLC, only part of my desktop was shown. That has happened before, so I finally decided to report that bug as well today. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk- recordmydesktop/+bug/1715517. I then loaded the (apparently) faulty video to YouTube, because I had recorded it a couple of times, with some changes to settings, but the result was the same when I played it back, and I thought the video would have some value in showing the Yahoo! Mail error anyway. However, when I watched the uploaded video in YouTube (https://youtu.be/3XtiMXaD_Q4), my full desktop is in fact shown. My apologies. I just watched the version of the recording tyhat I uploaded to YouTube today, and sure enough, the full screen is shown. [Bug 1705864] Re: Nautilus no longer starts (again)
Yes, I always tried to add each instance of this `nautilus` bug to previous bug reports for the same bug. I wasn't always able to find them, though. You might well be right. It's more than a year since I last did a fresh installation of the OS, and in fact, it has received a version upgrade in that time, which in my experience, consistently breaks bits of the system. At least this time, the computer still booted OK after the upgrade, which is a first for me. Due to the current level of accumulated quirks and errors, I am now reaching the point where it is becoming so inconvenient to persist with my current installation that I'll do a fresh installation as soon as I get the opportunity for the week or so that's required to configure the fresh installation again.

The nvidia source package produces two individual dkms packages: nvidia-340-updates, nvidia-340-updates-uvm. The problem is that the DKMS build of the nvidia-uvm module runs compile steps inside the nvidia modules build directory. This is violating the DKMS assumption that each module can be build independently (there is no way of describing cross-modules dependencies and even more important, the autoinstall step after a new kernel is installed will run the modules build in parallel). Since nvidia and nvidia-uvm are very dependent on each other the right course of action seems to be to combine both sources in one DKMS module that produces two kernel modules (this is supported by DKMS). For the transition this resulting dkms package needs to have a breaks/replaces for the nvidia-uvm package. The problem is that the DKMS build of the nvidia-uvm module runs compile steps inside the nvidia modules build directory. [Bug 1402071] [NEW] External USB disk appears but it is no longer connected
Public bug reported: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu ubuntu 14.04 LTS 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center gnome-disk-utility:i386 3.10.0-1ubuntu3 3) What you expected to happen When I had safely removed the disk, the disk would not appear in the utility again until I had connected it again. 4) What happened instead Yesterday I looked at the external disk in gnome-disk-utility 3.10.0. When I finished, I clicked the power off icon. That caused: 1. The partitions of that disk to disappear; 2. The disk to appear a second time in the list within gnome-disk-utility, with all its original partitions; and 3. The Ubuntu has experienced an error application to start. I right-clicked on the disk in the Launcher, selected Save removal, and it worked. I plugged the disk's USB cable in again, and it mounted as normal. I then repeated exactly the steps above, except I might not have got the Ubuntu has experienced an error message. I did it all a third time. I then left the computer for about 10 hours. I just started using the computer again 30 minutes ago. The external USB disk does not appear in the Launcher. I started gnome-disk-utility to look at an internal disk, and the external USB disk still appears in gnome-disk-utility despite the fact that it is not connected. [Bug 1030207] Re: Rhythmbox stops playing near the end of an MP3 track
I probably would test it and let you know, but: 1. I only use Rhythmbox on my new computer in another room now. 2. Rhythmbox seems to be quite resource-demanding, so it works much better on a computer with a couple of Intel Xeon E5 processors and 32GB of RAM than this old clunker with one Pentium 4 and 3GB of RAM. That computer uses Ubuntu 13.04, instead of 12.04. 3. My music collection resides on an external hard disk which I leave plugged in to the computer. 4. [Bug 1252905] Re: Pinned tabs and bookmarks toolbar have disappeared
It looks like I might have just fixed it myself, by carrying out the following procedure: 1. Uninstall Firefox using the Ubuntu Software Centre 2. Delete the folder /home/(Home)/.mozilla 3. Install Firefox using the Ubuntu Software Centre 4. Reconfigure Firefox setup. I've noticed a couple of minor changes (eg. one or two missing add-ons, and I had to fix my Bookmarks Menu a little bit) but the main thing is that my Bookmarks Toolbar now appears as it is supposed to, and my Pinned Tabs don't disappear every time that I close the browser. It's a pain in the neck that I have to set up all my Search Engines yet again. I hope it doesn't go bad again, because there are certain things about the presentation of some websites within Firefox to other browsers, like Google Chromium and Google Chrome, and it gives me functionality that I can't get in Epiphany. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252905 Title: Pinned tabs and bookmarks toolbar have disappeared To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1252905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1252905] [NEW] Pinned tabs and bookmarks toolbar have disappeared
Public bug reported: Up until 19 November 2013, my Firefox was configured with 4 pinned tabs. For some reason. when I started Firefox yesterday, Firefox had no pinned tabs, and in addition to that, all bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar had disappeared, despite the fact that View was set to show the Bookmarks Toolbar. What may be relevant is that shortly beforehand, I had clicked on Firefox in my Launcher to launch Firefox, and it didn't launch. I then opened the System Monitor and closed the running Firefox processes. I was then able to launch Firefox. What also might be relevant is that I am able to see my bookmarks (in my Bookmarks Toolbar) if I: 1. FirefoxViewToolbarsBookmarks Toolbar (to deselect) 2. FirefoxViewToolbarsBookmarks Toolbar (to select) 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu Ubuntu 13.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center firefox 25.0+build3-0ubuntu0.13.04.1 3) What you expected to happen Firefox opened normally with all my pinned tabs and with the Bookmarks Toolbar. 4) What happened instead Firefox opened without my pinned tabs and without showing the bookmarks I have saved to my Bookmarks Toolbar. [Bug 1166017] Re: I can't change the default web browser
I received an e-mail from Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot 1166...@bugs.launchpad.net; that said It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. I tried everything that the e-mail suggested to find the name of the package, without success. I have tried using the Package -- Choose... link above, but when I try to search for things like 'kernel' or 'Ubuntu' I receive the message Too many matches. [Bug 1016406] Re: command field appears when playing a movie
I can't remember if this happened only with Ubuntu 12.10, or if I saw it on 12.04. I removed 12.10 and reinstalled 12.04 some time on 2012, but I'm not sure if that would have been before or after I reported this bug. Does it appear without pressing alt too? I don't really know what this questions means. The bug describes what I did. ie. I did not press anything that is not mentioned. That is, I did not press alt (or anything else) before it appeared. [Bug 1058672] Re: Can't add my Facebook account
I installed the updates today in Ubuntu 12.04 which included updates for Gwibber and for the 3 plugins: Facebook, Twitter, and identi.ca. Gwibber is now version 3.4.2. After completing the update I did the following: 1. Removed Gwibber from within Facebook 'My Apps'. 2. Added a Facebook account again to Gwibber. It looked better than before except... 3. No Facebook entries appeared in Gwibber. 4. I looked at Accounts again in Gwibber. There is now a Facebook account in the list of accounts, unlike before today. Twitter says 'el_gallo_azul has been authorised by Twitter' like it did before today's updates, but Facebook still has the 'Authorise' button and the text 'Authorise with Facebook'. 5. I then restarted the computer, removed Gwibber from Facebook's 'My Apps', and added a Facebook account to Gwibber again. 6. Right now, the Facebook account still shows in Gwibber's list of accounts, but no Facebook entries appear on Gwibber's home page, and Gwibber's Facebook account still appears as in point 4 above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1058672 Title: Can't add my Facebook account To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gwibber/+bug/1058672/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1076195] [NEW] Graphics driver problem repeatedly causes OS to fail
Public bug reported: I don't know if xorg causes the problem, but I have endeed up finding 'xdiagnose' when searching using the term 'repair' from the Dash on a live Ubuntu 12.10 DVD. Right at this instant my computer is running from the live DVD. This may affect the Apport data that accompanies this bug report. My music was playing (shuffled) alright for a few hours. It then went quiet when a song had (just about?) finished. The song is from an MP3 file. It reached 3:02 of 3:04, and then stopped. I have tried to start a different track, without success. All the Rhythmbox control seem OK, but there is no progress on the time bar and there is no sound coming out. 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu Ubuntu 12.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center rhythmbox 2.96-0ubuntu4.1 3) What you expected to happen Music to keep playing (shuffled, if it makes any difference) 4) What happened instead It pplayed for a few hours and then stopped playing (froze near the end of a song) ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1030207 Title: Rhythmbox stops playing near the end of an MP3 track To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1030207/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
