I found the time do delete the Catalyst drivers (AMD installer) and reinstall
fglrx from the repositories.
I also reinstalled ubuntu-drivers-common from the proposed-archive just to make
sure.
Some testing showed the following results:

I tried to install nvidia drivers in live, but it does not work after
log out and log in. It freezes before desktop can appear, only distorted
background shows. I'll try it later with another dekstop image.

I've crated a topic in NVIDIA DevZone Forums about shipping this udev
rule. Someone have pointed out about the possibility of no kernel
devices (like /dev/dri/card*) being available, since they are not
created by NVIDIA drivers, but by other kernel modules.

I have experienced the same problem; gksu was taking 20 seconds to complete.
Workaround is to disable shadows under popup windows (ther compositor functions
do not affect gksu performance)

i am also affected by this bug. But its not only limited to firefox! It
occours on all windows and also occured last month!
I can reproduce this behaviour in firefox by using ctrl-down to minimize
the window. Bug also occurs on my laptop and pc.

When you click on the speaker icon on the top right, a dialog opens up
with a slider to adjust volume, etc. In this situation, if you turn the
volume control wheel, it'll not change the sound volume. If you close
the dialog the wheel works again.
