I'd really really like it if this could be done in firmware. Distributing
binaries seems like a pain - and please remember that some of us don't run
Lintel (I run SlimServer on OpenBSD and on an Unslung NSLU2)...

Can anyone suggest how I could simply use Slimserver to echo any sound
made by its PC host to the SB3? And yes, I mean every alert sound,
background website music, audio track, and beep--any sound coming out

Well the font selection seemed to be the problem. When I scrolled down to
the FONT boxes, they were completely empty. I selected Standard for both
FONT and STANDBY FONT, and the doubling went away.

Ordered an SB2 direct from SD last summer and got hit with customs
charge (+DHL handling fee) about £35ish.
Worked out same price as ordering direct in the UK.
Seems pretty much hit and miss if customs charge you.

That makes sense, as a purple-ish filter would explain both the shift
toward white and the drop in brightness (since it would subtract some

It does sound like the problem kdf diagnosed. I suspect you have
previously used a softsqueeze version which emulated the SB1-graphics
display (half as many pixels high).
To remove this the easy answer is to delete the slimserver.pref file
while the server has stopped and then restart the server

well it states WMP 9 or 10 as a requirement so i would say it is WMA it
uses. No idea if they use DRM in there, or just uses 'security by

browser, and hunt until you find the correct stream URL

--update Flash to the latest version
--make sure Flash is sending audio output to the correct system device

The interface is 100% ripped off from iTunes. There's nothing wrong
with FOSS apps loosely modelled on commercial ones, but iTunes in

Select "List compilation albums under each artist" from the dropdown

The SlimServer is certainly loading and using Windows DLL's, for
example.
So a DRM add on would not, IMHO, violate GPL.

Off; One; All. You may have accidentaly set the repaet to One.

track will repeat over & over. It goes to the next one if I skip it on
but then plays that one over and over.

DRM could be done in an Open Source model. The problem is that most
DRM models involve closed source licence agreements. So the
combination of having to occlude methods and the viral nature of the
GPL mean that the commercial DRM schemes (i.e. the big ones) are
unlike

I've noticed a few instances where SlimServer has tagged a few of my
albums as "compilations" even though I did not tag them that way
myself. These are classical recordings that had different artists on a
few of the tracks.
