Chris, Yes, the most likely suspect is Q9, but it is quite hardy and seldom fails. Take a look at the gate voltage to Q9 while keydown (you can set the power to zero for that test, or work the K2 into a dummy load). If the gate voltage goes to 5 volts or so, then Q9 is the problem.  If it stays

OK, With a dummy load - actually a 500W Bird 30dB attenuator - the displayed power out came up to 78W. I tried adjusting the bandpass filter - it was already spot on. They use one filter for 40M and 30M, and you go back & forth between the two. It was already perfectly peaked & tweaked.

John, With that serial number, run CAL PLL only on 40 meters after adjusting C22.  Other bands will give you an ERR 232. That should be in the manual under Calibration. Only K2s with the original (version 1.xx) firmware need to be run on each band, and there are only a few that have not upgrad

As far as I know, the transceivers have Auxbus (K2, K3, K4, but not K1). Not sure if the KX transceivers bring it out to a connector, though. The KPA500 sends data out to the transceiver using Auxbus, but does not listen, the KAT500 only receives data. The KPA1500 does both. I believe you are us

Jerry, I also would encourage you to look at the KRC2 for your solution. It will provide BCD band output as well as individual outputs for each band.  Use whatever is compatible with you amp. The K2 on its own does not provide external band data except by decoding the propriety AUXBUS data.  T
