There is nothing to force HD, only digital transmissions over the air.
Some stations are throttling back their "HD" bit rate to add the other
digital channels. So you can get a crappy "HD" channel along with a

A few weeks back we were discussing HDTVs. I had bought a Vizio 32 720P
for the bedroom, a good deal at Sams. Well right before Christmas the
thing started locking up when attempting to access certain channels,
couldn't turn it off, no buttons worked, gray screen of death. Did a

Go with the upconverter for now, unless you are going to invest a
bunch of cash or change over to somebody that rents HD DVD. The crap
that Wally world sells is not known to handle regular DVD
upconversion at all well. You will get ok signal on the
upconverters as long as you use digital
OK, so I think I am about to buy a TV, have decided on DLP I think.
Should I buy a HD DVD player as well, or in the near future? I guess
its still up in the air as far as HD DVD or Blue Ray. The HD is cheaper.
I also have noticed standard DVD players that upconvert to the 1080 I
