 I have a problem when trying to set scrollbar to something bigger then
 default.
 Here what I'm trying:

 ListView
       android:id=@android:id/list
       android:layout_width=fill_parent
       android:layout_height=fill_parent
       android:fastScrollEnabled=true
       android:scrollbarSize=20dip/

 For some reason android:scrollbarSize setting is ignored. Does anyone
 knows what's the problem?

 Thanks in advance.

[android-developers] Re: ADC2 entries so far...

2009-09-15 Thread flea papa

my adc2 submission: help the most.

a very simple idea and application.

you're born to help others. With help the most in your mind
and on your phone, you know who near you needs help every day
when you wake up, travel or enjoy a warm meal, while others
can't.

my kids mashed up the idea on paper.
their old papa mashed it up on android,
on major browsers and on a circularly replicated
mysql-powered apache server farm.

now you can find requests for/to help in your community or along your
trip.
and, you can find different set of requests by dragging your travel
route
on map and then browse matched requests by flinting your phone.

pls see these demos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dgQ_DZqrnk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcRSNU8N2q8

pls download help.apk from softpedia
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Misc-Fun/Help-The-Most-81965.shtml

or from slideme,
https://slideme.org/application/help-most

sorry, folks. i did it only in moonlight. still no time to change pkg
name
for publishing it on official android market. will do that if my boss
can
give me less 3g/ims development tasks or just give me no task :)

For those who have no Android phone but want to help
or need help, please visit www.helpthemost.net.

*** help.apk and helpthemost,net are localized for simplified/
traditional
chinese. any voluntary help on other languages is deeply appreciated.

 Its mid September and ADC team will soon launch the ADC 2 judging
 application. So far its been a great job by the ADC team with sticking
 to the submission deadline and swift uploads(leaving aside package
 name confusion among the participants).

 Meanwhile, below are about 105 ADC2 entries posted on forum. In case
 of new additions or corrections please reply to this discussion with
 category app name links. ADC1 saw about 1788 apps and my guess
 is ADC2 will see a tleast 2500 apps considering the tight deadline
 (could have been much higher(4K+) otherwise).

 From the trend it seems that the Miscellaneous category has far less
 entries than Prod/Tools and Games(both) categories. Possibly, 21st
 ranking entry under Prod/Tools could be much better than 3rd ranking
 entry under Misc category. Unlike ADC1, this time Category will be a
 key factor in winning; along with Originality, Effective Platform Use,
 Polish and Indispensability.

[android-developers] Re: How secure is SharedPreferences?

2009-09-15 Thread Andrei Bucur
So basically storing private data on the phone is actually impossible? I
must implement a system that needs to store some information at some times
in application lifetime. This information must not be deleted / modified in
any way because of security issues (the user could trick the system).
Is there a way to this on a rooted phone (I'm pretty sure it's not... but
the question worths a shot)?

Thanks!

[android-developers] Problem with integration of Zxing to my app

2009-09-15 Thread wahib.t...@gmail.com

Hi. I am a newbie and trying to decode a barcode image stored in res
folder using Zxing library. I am using this code.

package com.example.barcodescan;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.graphics.Bitmap;
import android.graphics.BitmapFactory;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.widget.TextView;

import com.google.zxing.MonochromeBitmapSource;
import com.google.zxing.MultiFormatReader;
import com.google.zxing.qrcode.QRCodeReader;

public class barcodescan extends Activity {
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
private TextView tv;
com.google.zxing.Result result;

@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);

tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.text);
Bitmap bitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(),
R.drawable.bar2);

MultiFormatReader reader1 = new MultiFormatReader(); //for all
barcode formats
QRCodeReader reader = new QRCodeReader(); //only for QRCode
format

try
{

result = reader1.decode(new MonochromeBitmapSource(bitmap));

tv.setText(result.getText());

}
catch(Exception e)

tv.setText(within catch block);

[android-developers] Re: Tracking down libdvm crash

2009-09-15 Thread fadden

 Here is
 the code (should I move this thread to the NDK list?) that causes the
 crash for me -- I don't see anything wrong, but maybe I'm missing
 something about the ordering freeing of the resources?

The code looks right to me. Note you don't actually need the
DeleteLocalRef calls; those evaporate when the thread is detached.

     // Copy output into another buffer

You sure the output buffer is big enough? (UTF-8 uses a variable-
width encoding.)

 Yeah, unfortunately this is hard enough to reproduce that I haven't
 gotten it to reproduce within gdb yet. Still hoping... It'd be great
 to improve the stack unwinding code.

Another trick: put debug.db.uid = 32767 in /data/local.prop and
reboot. Now, when something crashes and debuggerd sees it, it will
halt the process to give you a chance to attach a debugger. Press the
home key to let things continue.

 Even the #00 address is sometimes
 wrong for us, it seems to calculate the base address of our shared
 library wrong and do the pc to #00 translation wrong. The pc is
 correct,
 #00 is off by 0xB or so. That's easy enough to handle, but the
 lack of a real stack makes post-mortem debugging painful.

It's computing a relative address by stripping off the high bits. The
system libs all have fixed addresses, so this always works for those.

 Unfortunately the libc.so on the device has no symbols so I can't
 truly verify that -- is there a flag to objdump that I don't know
 about that would help reverse resolve the address?

If you know the start address of the library and the offset of the
function you should be able to just find the right file offset.

And yes, the NDK list is probably more appropriate, since we're
entirely focused on native code.

[android-developers] Re: How secure is SharedPreferences?

2009-09-15 Thread Dianne Hackborn
By definition, if the user has root, they can get to whatever they want.
 Now you can make this more difficult for them, by doing things like
encrypting your data and trying to be as careful as you can about where you
put the encryption key (for ex get it over the network, only keep it in RAM,
never let it be written to storage), but you would probably want to do that
yourself since relying on the platform to do so just makes it easier for the
user to subvert.

[android-developers] Re: How to create a View from an external XML source?

Inflation only works with an XML file that has been processed by aapt into
the binary resource representation.

 Hm, at a first glance this is possible: several LayoutInflater.inflate
 methods accept XmlPullParser, and you can certanly create one for an
 arbitrary Reader.

[android-developers] Re: How to create a View from an external XML source?

2009-09-15 Thread Argy

Important: For performance reasons, view inflation relies heavily on
pre-processing of XML files that is done at build time. Therefore, it
is not currently possible to use LayoutInflater with an XmlPullParser
over a plain XML file at runtime.

So I guess it has to be a pre-processed XML file and not a plain XML
file.
That's bad news... it would be great if there was a workaround for
this one...

Now I have to parse the XML myself and create the layout...
Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Argy

but the thing I'm not getting is how we'll support new (i.e. SDK 1.6)

If I just rebuild and publish my app with the 1.6SDK to provide proper
support for different screen sizes, then anyone who hasn't upgraded to
Donut won't be able to see my app. Does this mean that we'll all end
up leaving 1.5SDK versions of our apps available on the market, and
then publishing donut/eclair versions with slightly different names?

[android-developers] Re: Hmm... at last ADC2 is out of our way ... tell about your app and experience

2009-09-15 Thread Somasekhar
Product Name: *You’re Invited*

Description: Invitation Manager

Category: Productivity/Tools
URL: www.bytedroid.com/youareinvited

I created this app to remember the Invitations I received. I used to forget
the date and time of the event often, so I missed many. I thought I will
create an app which stores invitation information and gives some Periodic
alerts as well as Location alerts.

Location alerts popup when I happen to be near the venue of event. For this
I store the event location’s Geo Information like Longitude and Latitude.

And I made all this in *You’re Invited*. It was a challenge this being my
first Android application and I am glad I finished it on time, at least the
first version. I have already thought of a few things to put in next
version.

*You’re Invited* is full with features and yet is simple to use.

Invitations you receive will automatically go in Upcoming Invitations or
Missed Invitations category depending on event date and current date.

With *You’re Invited* you are no more missing events by chance, you can
always do so by choice. You can put an Upcoming Invitations in Not
Interested category.

There will be no Location or Periodic alerts for Not Interested, Missed and
Attended events.

If you have already attended an invitation which has gone to missed category
being of previous date, you can shift it to Attended category.

All these categories are shown in different tabs in App.

You can create a new invitation using template provided. If you quickly want
to fix an official meeting simply select the Invitation type as Meeting,
select the invitees contact number and/or email id from the contacts or type
in yourself.

SMS will be sent to the numbers and mail will be sent to the ids. Write the
message, date Time and venue and send it. If you want Location Alert, Geo
Tag the venue.

In case of a not so quick invite like that of a birthday or wedding, you can
put in your own creative messages. You can put in R.S.V.P. as well.

There is a limit on characters if you send SMS but no limit if you are
sending a mail.

In case you want to review it later before sending save it in draft and send
from draft later.

You can keep all your invitations in one place using *You’re Invited* using
Add Invitation option. Put in the details of invitation received from other
sources like email or Invitation card in Add and you will start getting
alerts and other advantages like any invitation from *You’re Invited*.

You will get to know of Upcoming invitations through notifications.

Location and periodic Alerts, GUI display options, mode of sending
invitation – mail or SMS, cleaning up of Invitation list are all
configurable through the Settings option. You can customize the App the way
you want.

I have given a one touch option to quickly see today’s and tomorrow’s
events.

When you are looking at the geo location in Map or satellite view al the
details of event is visible at the location point itself. You do not have to
switch views to get the details. You can see the route from your current
location to venue.

I have also added some FAQs in case of help required in usage of which the
chances are less.

I am planning to put a couple of more things in next version:

   1. Template messages according to the invitation type
   2. Removing SMS size Limit
   3. Animated invitation cards
   4. Automatic date setting of events like Christmas, New year

*You’re Invited* will soon be available in the market for free.

Any feedback from you will be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Somasekhar

Use resource sets, and ship one version of your app that supports
multiple screen sizes from a single APK.

My interpretation is that the manifest elements that Al Sutton and Ms.
Hackborn were describing are used as market and installer filters -- the
app will not be installed if you do not meet the manifest criteria. You
might use this, for example, as a stopgap to prevent people from trying
to use your app on QVGA or WVGA screens before you have had a chance to
add support for them.

So, if you want one app to handle more than one screen size, write your
app to handle more than one screen size, and leave those manifest
elements out of it.

Again, this is an educated guess, based upon what we had been told for
the last ~15 months on this issue, and it could be they have a whole
'nuther system in mind now.

[android-developers] Re: Probing for an already set Alarm?

2009-09-15 Thread Walles

Good point :-), here's the plan:

I'm writing an app to find out what apps are using the most CPU time
(which I hope will correlate with battery drain). It's possible to
get a snapshot picture of this by looking at /proc:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~walles/drain-o-meter/trunk/annotate/head%3A/src/net/launchpad/drainometer/proc/ProcSnapshot.java

A single snapshot picture will however miss apps that start, run for
some time and then exit.

So what I want to do is to take *regular* snapshots. I take the
difference between the last two snapshots and add the difference to a
process name - number of ticks Map.

Snapshotting rules are:
* Snapshots should be taken at regular intervals.
* The first two snapshots should be taken in quick succession to be
able to quickly present the first measurement to the user.
* It must be possible for an UI app to look at the result of the
snapshotting.

To get the whole thing going, I'm letting the UI part of the
application start the sampler in the background. When the sampling is
first started it needs to take two snapshots quickly (see above). The
rest of the samples should be taken at longer intervals.

I first tried to do this using alarms, but I didn't manage to get the
two quick samples first and the rest further apart behavior with
alarms:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~walles/drain-o-meter/trunk/files/39

I now have a working implementation with a background service:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~walles/drain-o-meter/trunk/files/57

Suggestions on how I should *really* be doing welcome :-).

  Cheers //Johan

 Please don't. For starters, it won't work, since the service may get
 killed off by the user or the system. Also, while the service is in
 memory, you are taking up one process' worth of RAM.

 If you could explain to us what the effect is you are trying to achieve
 (versus low-level technical statements, like not to overwrite an
 existing alarm with a new one), we might be able to suggest alternative

[android-developers] Re: How to create a View from an external XML source?

2009-09-15 Thread Dmitry.Skiba

Hm, yes, I was wrong.
So, no official way of doing it, yet. Lets hack then :)
I can suggest the following: put layout in a dummy project,
generate .apk from it. Program would download this apk, install it,
and then query xml resource via PackageManager.

 So I guess it has to be a pre-processed XML file and not a plain XML
 file.
 That's bad news... it would be great if there was a workaround for
 this one...

 Now I have to parse the XML myself and create the layout...
 Any other suggestions?

   What if I have this XML layout online (on a website) and I want to

   Is there any way to do this?
   Or I have to parse the XML and create the layout (hard-coded)?

[android-developers] Re: How secure is SharedPreferences?

2009-09-15 Thread Carmen Delessio
Forgive me if there is a very obvious answer to this question, but I want to
have the best answer possible.

I must implement a system that needs to store some information at some
times in application lifetime.
This information must not be deleted / modified in any way because of
security issues (the user could trick the system).

This is a scenario that is very similar to using APIs with secret keys.
I , as a developer, have been given a secret key that is required for the
API.
I code that secret key into my app. * String secretKey=mysecretkey;*

Given the ability to decompile .dex files, is this secure enough?

I can think of other ways to do this, but what are the recommendations. I've
looked at the Android Security FAQ and googled for an anwer.
Thanks,
Carmen

[android-developers] Re: Hmm... at last ADC2 is out of our way ... tell about your app and experience

2009-09-15 Thread Michael

Ooops...
I am late, probably too late. Anyway, I’d like to talk about Seawasp,
my ADC2 contribution. It’s an old-school action/arcade game. One of
the main goals was to create a fun arcade atmosphere and gameplay,
like the atmosphere and gameplay from the old commodore c64/amiga
games. I leave it to you to judge how well we've met our goal, but let
me just tell you that both, Ursula Schwab (GFX) and Chris Huelsbeck
(Sound and SFX) are not just professional and famous artists, they are
also highly skilled and fun to work with! It's just the programmer
(well, that's me) who marches to a different drum, but I bet most
people will never notice that Seawasp was developed by a waiter who
stumbled about the android SDK by luck. :)
But back to Seawasp, it took 4 months to develop it plus two
additional weeks of vacation from my regular job, which also supplied
the capital to hire a professional team. Seawasp was contributed to
ADC2 just by luck, because it fitted into the time frame.
There are countless hours of work, a few thousand dollars and many
sleepless nights in Seawasp. I really hope you like it!
Thanks for your time,
Michael.

By the way, take a look at www.honeymilklabs.com for more details
about Seawasp.

[android-developers] Re: Android Market 1.6

2009-09-15 Thread mcgowen007

Whichever criterion Google wants to use is fine, I just think it would
benefit both us developers and the end users to see hot apps for
different time periods. An app that is brand new is thrown into the
mix with all of the other new apps on the one tab, and it's hard to
tell which ones are worthwhile. If the user could filter the most
popular (some mix of downloads, active installs, star-rating, etc.) of
the day or week, it would be a very powerful and useful tool. I offer
this suggestion up because I would use it all the time as an android
user, but would love even more to see it as a developer. And
furthermore, I don't believe it is a huge effort for developers of the
market 1.6 upgrade. When a user clicks on Top Paid or Top Free
for instance, hitting the 'menu' button will give them a time-filter
option. It's a pretty simple tweak I hope they consider.

I would love to hear other opinions or comments (especially from
someone from the Googleplex ;).

work hard to put out something cool that is downloaded en masse for
about a day and a half while it floats near the top of the new apps
category, but won't pick back up again without some additional
promotion.  It would be very helpful to have a most popular filter for
today, this week, this month, this year, all time.  That way, we can
gain some traction as a most popular app for the week or month (and
hopefully beyond!).  Please consider this in your next round of
upgrades to the market.  Otherwise, great job guys!

Most people say : that means you should not use it in your

[android-developers] Invoking search by hardware key

2009-09-15 Thread David Horn

Sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question, but I'm really
struggling to understand the SearchManager documentation.

How do I actually invoke a search from the hardware search button in
my application? I've added the relevant code to the Manifest file,
but pushing the button has absolutely no effect.

The API is very unclear - is this something that should be handled
automatically from the Activity class, or have I got to override
something? Have I got to include a hardware key listener?

Any help or pointers are appreciated!

[android-developers] Re: How secure is SharedPreferences?

2009-09-15 Thread gjs

Hi,

 I code that secret key into my app. * String secretKey=mysecretkey;*

 Given the ability to decompile .dex files, is this secure enough?

You only need to open the .dex file in a text editor to see the
mysecretkey string, so decompile is not even necessary.

Dianne gave one of the best answers and the following might also help
you find a best answer possible, but it really depends on what you are
willing to accept as being secure enough for your application.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public-key_cryptography

The very obvious answer is to get the user to enter the secret key
each time they use your application, but that is not generally
practical and is unlikely to be recommended.

[android-developers] Re: Managing Large Graphic Set

2009-09-15 Thread Orion2569

I have taken a look at the google video about game programming for
android, although I haven't had the time to watch it all of the way
through yet, it seems like a great start. A big part of why i'm trying
to do it, the way that i'm trying to do it, is because i'm trying to
prevent the manipulation of the graphics from the client-side of the
application (this is supposed to be a client/server type of game,
although it is still pretty basic). Again, I would like some kind of
package that included these for the most part, so I can do a simple
md5/sha-1 checksum on 1 file, instead of each file, everytime the
client loads. I appreciate all of the feedback thus far, as well.

[android-developers] tableLayout

2009-09-15 Thread mmkr

Hai,

In my application I need to use tableLayouts. Either i need to create
array of table layouts so that it would be easy to give a id for each
or use a single table layout each time and change the id( unique id is
the most required). I created a default tablelayout in .java file. My
doubt is can I create any array of tableLayouts(in .java file), so
that I can create unique id for each tablelayout. If there is no way i
can create array of layouts is there any other way i can create a
unique id for the same table layout each time it is called.

Thank you in advance

[android-developers] Re: How secure is SharedPreferences?

2009-09-15 Thread Carmen Delessio
Thanks,
Understanding that PGP and encryption are generally what is required, I want
to get a handle on implementing security in an enviroment where:

1. Developers can have a rooted phone
2. Developers can decompile your code

#2 is what makes this more difficult. On a web server, I can be reasonably
assured when I use Java that you can't get my compiled class and decompile
it.

Starting with the specific non-secure example:

 I code that secret key into my app. * String secretKey=mysecretkey;

That is not secure. mysecretkey is readable in the .dex file. Thanks for
pointing that out.

I can encrypt it using a method like those here:
http://www.j2ee.me/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/security/jce/JCERefGuide.html#SimpleEncrEx
Android has classes to support this:
http://developer.android.com/reference/javax/crypto/KeyGenerator.html

* Let's say, I use the suggestion to get my secret key over the network.
* That would typically be fine, but since an ambitious developer could
decompile the code that does this, is it secure?

I'd be happy to be missing something obvious. I think this is important
enough for the specifics to be discussed.

In the example scenario, the mysecretkey would be the developer secret for
an API like Twitter, Facebook ...
So user entering it is not the goal.

Thanks again,
Carmen

[android-developers] Re: Android WVGA support

2009-09-15 Thread ellipsoidmob...@googlemail.com

 Use resource sets, and ship one version of your app that supports
 multiple screen sizes from a single APK.

 snip
 So, if you want one app to handle more than one screen size, write your
 app to handle more than one screen size, and leave those manifest
 elements out of it.

Right - so if for my existing market apps I'm happy to stick with the
1.5SDK (which I am) and if I can code/design the apps to cope with the
different screens (which I can), then I can stick with 1.5 and ignore
the new manifest elements?

I was concerned that if I do this the framework on (e.g.) a WVGA
device will know that my app is 'old', and will therefore start
automatically scaling up my assets. Or, that for QVGA devices the
market might decide that my 1.5SDK app can't possibly support the
screen and it won't even be offered for download.

[android-developers] Re: Managing Large Graphic Set

2009-09-15 Thread Michael

You can accelerate access to zip files by specifying a lower
compression rate or no compression at all during creation of the
archive. Keep in mind that you can also specify the compression rate
for each file individually (See ZipOutputStream.setLevel()).
It may also be interesting to compare the size and performance impact
of the lowest- and highest compression rate.

Just an idea,
Michael.

[android-developers] Re: how to capture browser activity or callback

2009-09-15 Thread Carmen Delessio
I think I understand the scenario, I have an answer that works when
accessing a web URL that returns a token via a WebView.

You have an initial URL like: http://www.givemeatoken.com
that returns http://www.givemeatoken.com?yourToken=12345

I handle this by:
1. creating a WebView
2. loading the url http://www.givemeatoken.com into the WebView
3. Setting the webView client to my own webview.setWebViewClient(new
MyWebViewClient());
4. Overriding the onPageStarted method in MyWebViewClient

So MyWebViewClient looks like:

  private class MyWebViewClient extends WebViewClient {
 @Override
 public void onPageStarted (WebView view, String url, Bitmap
favicon){
 if (url.startsWith( http://www.givemeatoken.com?yourToken=;){
 // parse the URL to get the token
 }

This gives me a chance to filter the incoming URL. I am not sure if there
are other ways to do this.

[android-developers] Re: Android WVGA support

2009-09-15 Thread Mark Murphy

 Right - so if for my existing market apps I'm happy to stick with the
 1.5SDK (which I am) and if I can code/design the apps to cope with the
 different screens (which I can), then I can stick with 1.5 and ignore
 the new manifest elements?

That I am not sure about, see below.

I misunderstood your original question. I thought you were wondering how
to support multiple screen sizes without having multiple APKs on the
market. You should be able to support as many screen sizes as you want
with a single APK, via resource sets. This *may* need to be supplemented
with new 1.6-specific manifest entries -- that part is unclear to me at
this time.

If you have an existing application, 1.5r3, with no layouts specifically
for WVGA/QVGA, WVGA and QVGA devices may make autonomous decisions of how
to interpret the layout rules you have provided (which presumably were
written for HVGA). Up until recently, I'd've said that it would just try
to use the assets as-is and interpret the layout rules as written. So,
WVGA might work just fine out of the box if you used RelativeLayout and
such (versus, say, AbsoluteLayout), but QVGA might look awful because your
assets were too big.

Some of the recent comments on this thread suggest that the core Android
team has added more sophisticated smarts than that, perhaps to try to
allow more applications to run acceptably without modification, and
perhaps also to deal with screen density and such. The details of how all
that works has not been discussed much beyond this thread, and presumably
is the meat of Ms. Hackborn's upcoming blog post.

Like you, I'm awaiting more details.

myImage.setId(VIEW_ID_IMAGE);

[android-developers] Re: tabs iphone style

 How can i make something like this:

 http://www.appsstore.nl/apps/fml/fmlscreen1.jpg

 So i mean the tabs at the bottom of the screen. It has to be present
 on every activity and every tab shows and other activity
 (listactivity).

 How can i do this?

With a lot of work. There is no BottomTabsLikeIPhoneHas widget.

Having a bar of ImageButtons is easy. Giving them the proper transparent
background (so a sliver of the underlying ListView, as in your screenshot)
is the job of a graphic designer. Having the buttons change the contents
of the list could be done any number of ways, though I would start with a
ViewFlipper.

[android-developers] About getting audio streams to A2DP headphone and Headphone

2009-09-15 Thread Rangan

Dear All,

There is a function setRouting to set the audio for a specified mode.
   public void setRouting (int mode, int routes, int
mask)

The parameters for the routes are:
  int ROUTE_BLUETOOTH This constant is deprecated. use
ROUTE_BLUETOOTH_SCO
  int ROUTE_BLUETOOTH_A2DP Routing audio output to bluetooth
A2DP
  int ROUTE_BLUETOOTH_SCO Routing audio output to bluetooth SCO
  int ROUTE_EARPIECE Routing audio output to earpiece
  int ROUTE_HEADSET Routing audio output to headset
  int ROUTE_SPEAKER Routing audio output to speaker
Using the OR of these parameters, theoritically we should be able to
get the routing to 2 routes. For eg. if we need blue tooth A2DP
headphone and Speaker, we should be able to achieve it using
( ROUTE_BLUETOOTH_A2DP | ROUTE_SPEAKER).

Bu it does not work as expected on say HTC phones. It will just stay
with A2DP headphone which means, it is most likely a MIPS issue as
well and the Android system default is built this way. Am I right?

Any idea on what other ways we can achieve streaming to A2DP headphone
and also to have the same stream or different stream locally played
back on speakers.

Regards
Rangan.

  When no wake locks are held, the CPU will not run at all, and time has
  effectively stopped for most scheduling (that is scheduling based on
  SystemClock.uptimeMillis(), which is what most things like Handler and Java
  timeouts use).

  Hello,
  I have some basic doubts with Deep Sleep on Android device. Deep sleep

  When device goes to Deep sleep, will my service still running?.

  If CPU is turned off on Deep Sleep, when Device comes out of Deep Sleep,
  will my service continues(resumes) its operations which it was doing
  earlier?.

  Can anyone please help me out in understanding this.

  Thanks,

[android-developers] Re: (unofficial) Bluetooth API v. 0.2

2009-09-15 Thread windstorm

Yes, I totally agree with you, but sometimes people are just wanting
to do some experimental project or things for academic stuff, then it
would be better to release experimental API which may be of
restriction on commercialized production.

Anyway, I will take a look at NDK and bluez in parallel, while still
prefer to see someone point out the reason of my problem. Using high
level API will always minimize people's work overhead.

 Keep in mind: this is all based on using private APIs.  You can expect it to
 not work with different devices and different versions of the platform,
 because these APIs are not public so allowed to be changed by anyone.
 You should not be using this stuff for production code.

  Anybody tried to use this API on Hero?

  while the Hero phone has paired with the device, I can see the paired

  of what kind of modification I made.

  This is really frustrating and would be very appreciate if anybody can
  give some hints.

  BTW: I wonder which port number do you guys assign when initialize the

I also use your library (RFCOMM) already.
The only thing I found is, that when I try to pair to a device which

   Thank you for feedback. I'll investigate on that. Please, don't forget
