We started seeing very intermittent problems with the User Tool not
responding while testing 7.5.00.003a, mainly with the Incident Console and
form. This may have coincided with the recent update of Adobe Flash Player,
as well. It became a problem across the board after we installed
7.5.00.004.

Today I put 7.5.00.003a on a Vista vm with the older (Oct 2009) Flash
Player, and it loaded ALL consoles, no problem. As SOON as I updated it to
patch 004, it would hang immediately on Incident, Problem, Asset, CMDB,
sometimes Change. It still opens the Admin Consoles, SLM, AIE, Approval,
RKM (anything NOT part of ITSM) without hanging - these have never been
prone to hanging in any version. Updating the server to 7.5.00.004 from 003
did not help. It even hangs on the User Tool that is locally installed on
the AR Server. which doesn't even have Flash installed.

Anyone else seeing similar issues?

We have seen the problem with clients on:

2010-02-17 Thread Robert Fults
I actually reported a similar issue to BMC last week with the User Tool. Patch
004 would hang whenever I tried to load a form containing a flashboard. Issue
just seems to be with the User Tool though. Dev studio has been working fine
at the new patch level. I only tested this against Windows 7 Pro x64, Vista
Business x86, and XP Pro SP3 x86, since that is what I had handy at the moment.

Importing Definition Forms

2010-02-17 Thread Kemes, Lisa
We are having a really bizarre issue with importing any form, active link,
filter or escalation from our Development Server to our Production Server.
Both are at the same version (ARS 7.1 P7). Both DB's are at the same version
Oracle 10g. And both servers are Windows 2003 boxes. We try to take great
care in keeping both boxes exactly the same.

I tried a simple form with a menu, a filter, and an active link. They wouldn't
load. It generated the following errors.

The file specified for a character menu does not hold a character menu
definition: (ARERR 414)
The file specified for an active link does not hold an active link definition:
(ARERR 413)

I tried the menu alone. It errored.

When I tried to just import the form I would get:

The following item was not imported: Junk (ARERR 55)
The file specified for a character menu does not hold a character menu
definition: (ARERR 414)
The file specified for an active link does not hold an active link definition:
(ARERR 413)

Has anyone ever seen this issue before?

When I export from Dev and import back into Dev, it's fine. As of yesterday
morning, when I exported from Prod and imported back into Prod, everything is
fine. It's when I try to export from Dev into Prod.

This topic seemed to go cold (br!)

Is anyone else experiencing this? Again, we understand why this happens when
we do a calculation on the date, but what happens when the second Sunday of
March comes around and there's a March 15 12:00:00 AM date that was manually
submitted and a March 15 1:00:00 AM that was calculated via adding days to the
original date?

The Epoch time in the Database reflects this same data as well. (the hour
difference)

Come DST time, Remedy won't know which one was manually entered and which one
was from a calculated date.

Ugh!

Resending to correct a couple of typos.

All, the issue is with adding seconds to Starting and Ending Dates for events
that happen after the change to/from Daylight Savings time. The routines
create multiple records by adding a fixed number of seconds for each new
record. Say that we want to create 20 new records and each record is 7 days in
the future. The filter loop would take the Start/End Date times of the first
record and add 1 times 7 times 24 times 60 times 60 or 4,233,600 seconds. The
next would be 2 times 7 times 24 times 60 times 60 or 8,467,200 seconds. This
would continue for the set number of new records to be created.

The problem is that the length of time is not a fixed length. One would think
that there is always 86,400 seconds in a day. Interestingly there isn't. On
the day that we change clocks ahead for Daylight savings time there are 82,800
(we shave off an hour from that day). On the day that we change clocks back
for Standard time there are 90,000 (we remove an hour for that day).

This is what's causing the issue for us.

Does DATEADD account for these two shortened/lengthened days?

Thanks Dave,

I was hoping that the display would be different, but the database date would
be the same. But this isn't the case. When I add a date to the system
manually 3/15/2010 12:00:00 AM it's posted to my client as the same date and
time and in the Database as the same Date and Time (but in Epoch of course).
When I use the DATEADD function to add 63 days to the date 1/11/2010 12:00:00
AM it posts to the client (and to the database) as 3/15/2010 1:00:00 AM.

Why the difference then between adding a date/time manually and adding to a
date using the DATEADD function? Shouldn't they both show up as 3/15/2010
1:00:00 AM then?

Subject: Re: DST Issues

Hi Lisa

This is the Remedy equivalent of relativity theory. What date/time you see
depends upon your current date/time as far as DST is concerned. Let me try to
explain.

Dates in Remedy are stored as epoch time - the number of seconds since 12AM
1/1/1970 GMT. When you set your regional settings, you are identifying an
offset from GMT that the client uses to display the date/time in your current
timezone.

When DST kicks in, effectively, your offset from GMT is changed by one hour.
For example, you might now be 7 hours behind GMT instead of 8 hours behind.
All dates are then displayed in the new timezone offset.

When you look at date/times in the future, you are looking at them from your
current timezone offset, so dates after DST kicks in will appear one hour out.
Later in the year, these dates will be displayed correctly, but dates from
before the DST change will be displayed one hour out the other way.

The Remedy client makes no attempt to apply a different timezone offset to past
or future dates when it displays them - it always uses the current defined
offset.

So, in other words, I think your date/time calculations are correct, and by the
time you get to May or August, those times will be displayed correctly.

Well... You can also lock the workflow too.

However that should only be done under extreme conditions. (Like
trying to sell ARS applications.)

Or was that removed in 7.5 ? [ I have not looked for it in that version.]

I tried a simple form with a menu, a filter, and an active link. They wouldn't
load. It generated the following errors.

The file specified for a character menu does not hold a character menu
definition: (ARERR 414)
The file specified for an active link does not hold an active link definition:

I tried the menu alone. It errored.

When I tried to just import the form I would get:

The file specified for a character menu does not hold a character menu
definition: (ARERR 414)
The file specified for an active link does not hold an active link definition:

Has anyone ever seen this issue before?
When I export from Dev and import back into Dev, it's fine. As of yesterday

fine. It's when I try to export from Dev into Prod.

It's odd that the error is talking about the file not containing a valid

Hi Lisa - I have indeed seen this error. It has occurred several times on our
development servers (ARS 6.3 patch 24), but I've never been able to determine
the root cause of the problem. My only solution is to restart the Remedy
application. This seems to clear the error and you are then able to import
definition files without error.

Given that this is a production system, this may be unpalatable, but this is
the only solution I have found!

Subject: Consuming Complex External Web Service Help

Can this be done via filter mapping or does this require some
middle-ware?

I'm trying to consume a complex web service from an external source and
have hit a snag with the filter mapping.

The construct/hierarchy of the web service is:

Location (top of hierarchy) //i.e. some address
-name (primaryAttribute)
Devices (0 or more child(ren) to Location) //i.e. a host at the
address
-name (primaryAttribute)
-features (0 or more child(ren) contains array of Devices)
//i.e. a host can have one or more components

The results would look something like:

Location
-site123xxx
Devices
-device123
-feature array ref
Devices
-device123_component123
-feature array ref
...

So the parent-child link gets blurred as device123_component123 is a
child to device123- feature array ref not device123. And that can't
be mapped in the filter mapping. Is there anyway to handle this
natively? Have I missed something?

Thanks,

Eric

However that should only be done under extreme conditions. (Like

You can always Disabled Administrator Operations
Disable-Admin-Ops: T

Restart ARS and then the server is Locked - then set to F and restart and
you can modify.

Of course this is a ON / OFF switch - this works great for Production

Well... You can also lock the workflow too.

However that should only be done under extreme conditions. (Like
trying to sell ARS applications.)

Or was that removed in 7.5 ? [ I have not looked for it in that version.]

SRM 2.2 Patch 002 - Question Mapping Conversion

2010-02-17 Thread Eli Schilling
Hello list!

The other day I upgraded my SRM 2.2 app form Patch 001 to patch 003. Of
coure it loaded the patch 002 components as well, which includes a
couple of SQL scripts that re-map the question mapping forms. Well,
these scripts failed to execute and none of my question mapping would
function after the patch install.

So I went ahead and wrote a sql query to perform the updates and wound
up having to do field type conversions to get the script to function
properly. I'm curious if anyone else ran into this issue while patching
SRM 2.2. I'm wondering if it is a defect with the product or a
dysfunction that is solely applicable to my environment. I had opened a
ticket with BMC and their response was to restore my database and
install the patch again.

I'm running ARS 7.5 Patch 002 on Windows 2003 64-bit with SQL 2005
backend. The two tables that didn't convert were
SRM_MasterDataMappingLIst and SRM_SourceToTargetDataAssociat. The issue
being that the columns being modified are TEXT and that data type is not
valid within the context of T-SQL's REPLACE command.

Thanks all!

**
We started seeing very intermittent problems with the User Tool not responding
while testing 7.5.00.003a, mainly with the Incident Console and form. This may
have coincided with the recent update of Adobe Flash Player, as well. It
became a problem across the board after we installed 7.5.00.004.

Today I put 7.5.00.003a on a Vista vm with the older (Oct 2009) Flash Player,
and it loaded ALL consoles, no problem. As SOON as I updated it to patch 004,
it would hang immediately on Incident, Problem, Asset, CMDB, sometimes Change.
It still opens the Admin Consoles, SLM, AIE, Approval, RKM (anything NOT part
of ITSM) without hanging - these have never been prone to hanging in any
version. Updating the server to 7.5.00.004 from 003 did not help. It even
hangs on the User Tool that is locally installed on the AR Server... which
doesn't even have Flash installed.

Anyone else seeing similar issues?

We have seen the problem with clients on:
XP Pro Sp3
Vista Ultimate Sp2
Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows Server 2003 Ent x64 Sp2
Windows Server 2008 R2 Ent x64

 The second statement should be

 select count(*) from t9 where c104 like '1; %' or c104 like '% 1; %';

However I would rather use the view name of the user form which is user_x
instead of t9 because if you are writing code that needs to be migrated
across servers, writing SQL statements on the T tables may not be the best
idea unless in your environment you are absolutely sure that you have the
whole table structures migrated across systems maintaining the identical T
numbers for those tables across environments..

So I would rather prefer the statement

 select count(*) from user_x where group_list like '1; %' or group_list like
 '% 1; %';

This statement will be good for all environments irrespective of how
careful you are to ensure ideal case database migrations between different
 environments...

As far as parsing the group ID's to real group names, if you absolutely
have to do it using direct SQL queries why not try writing a stored
procedure to do it? It may be a lot easier..

   Hello All,

Below is the problem and way I was trying to handle it

C_list contains comma separated values of group Id’s. this list contains
all the group id’s associated to a particular login name.

 C_list= (1,15005,85,83,84,805)

This variable will be holding up dynamically value in numbers.

For group id numbers in simple sql statement we can get the result
corresponding name using the below query,

 Select c105,c106 from t10 where c106 in (1, 101,102,104).

Same query when I tried transforming in a cursor it throws up a
compilation error. The error points out to a fetch statement where we try
and fetch the data from the cursor for one particular group id.

 Declare cursor c1 as select c105,c106 from t10 where c106 in(c_list);

 Begin

 Open c1;

 Loop

 Fetch C1 into g_num,g_name;

 dbms_output.put_line(g_name);

 EXIT WHEN C1%NOTFOUND;

 END LOOP;

 Close c1;

 End;

Hope it explains the problem I am facing.

Any suggestions/Comments or previously implemented code will be helpful
 for me.

Re: AREmail emails going to wrong users

2010-02-17 Thread Shellman, David
Just to give the list an update. Support has uncovered another bug with the
email engine where on occasion the body of the previous message is sent instead
of the correct message body. After we patched the email engine to 7.1 patch
008, we were still seeing the issue.

We didn't see the issue very often. We do have a process where the generated
emails contain very different data. In that process we would see it about 4
out of 110 messages. We would see the issue when a large number of emails
would hit the email engine at roughly the same time. If some other process was
tying up the server, the load would be spread out over a little longer period
of time and we wouldn't see the issue.

The issue will be addressed in a future patch. The work around is to make a
change in the emaildaemon.properties file. The suggested work around change
the following parameter from

com.bmc.arsys.emaildaemon.SendEmailSetSize=100
to
com.bmc.arsys.emaildaemon.SendEmailSetSize=50

It is noted that this may delay emails a bit.

Ravi,

There is a known bug in the email engine. SW00332327 Email Engine incorrectly
used the body text of the previous record when processing the current outgoing
message.

This bug only shows up when the system is sending a number of outbound emails.
We would see the bug in about 6 of 120 outbound emails. It would not always be
the same 6 but we were seeing roughly the same number each time.

This has been corrected in the latest 7.1 patch 008 and in 7.5 Patch 003.

Remedy 7.1.1

Hi: not sure if anyone has seen this. I have a mailbox configured to use
a standard solaris sendmail to send emails. Occasionally users are
receiving the wrong emails. For example as per AR System Email Messages
form, email1 was sent out to user1, email2 was sent out to user2, email3
was sent out to user3. User3 somehow received email2. Not sure if user2
received email1. This seems to happen only for emails that have the same
Date Sent time in the AR System Email Messages form. Has anyone else
seen this? It's hard to do any troubleshooting in the sendmail logs
since it doesn't log anything other than the time and the destination
email address.

Thanks

Re: how to change login name

2010-02-17 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

I have published a free utility that does this.

It can go through all forms in your Remedy system and change any exact
occurrence of your login names to new ones. Just supply a conversion list
like this:
m.mladonicky = mmladoniczky
h.pabla = hpabla
...

Beware that this process can take considerable time, as the program by
default reads any fields less than 255 characters in all records and all
forms.

This can be configured, for example to start with important forms like
User and People, and skip forms where this does not matter.

Status-History and Diary-names will also be converted.

The modified date/by will not be modified.

Can this be done via filter mapping or does this require some
middle-ware?

I'm trying to consume a complex web service from an external source and
have hit a snag with the filter mapping.

The construct/hierarchy of the web service is:

Location (top of hierarchy) //i.e. some address
-name (primaryAttribute)
Devices (0 or more child(ren) to Location) //i.e. a host at the
address
-name (primaryAttribute)
-features (0 or more child(ren) contains array of Devices)
//i.e. a host can have one or more components

The results would look something like:

Location
-site123xxx
Devices
-device123
-feature array ref
Devices
-device123_component123
-feature array ref
...

So the parent-child link gets blurred as device123_component123 is a
child to device123- feature array ref not device123. And that can't
be mapped in the filter mapping. Is there anyway to handle this
natively? Have I missed something?

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,

I tried this before but with complex mappings, I was unable to consume
it using a filter.

So, here's what I did.

Wrote a Java web-service client to consume web-service and then
integrated that client with Remedy using JAVA API.

Wrote a filter to invoke a Run Process that invokes that web-service
client with parameters from Remedy. Once client is invoked, it runs,
gets response and updates fields on Remedy using API.

Hope this helps.

If you happen to find something through Remedy filter, please share it.

Thanks
Chintan.

Re: AREmail emails going to wrong users

2010-02-17 Thread Guillaume Rheault
Thanks for the info.
As a note, to compensate for the potential negative impact of reducing the set
size, the polling interval can be decreased.

I've seen polling intervals as low as 30 seconds for outgoing mailboxes, and it
works very well in the email engine 7.1.
I assume a polling interval of 30 seconds is fine too for the email engine 7.5

The suggested work around change
the following parameter from

com.bmc.arsys.emaildaemon.SendEmailSetSize=100
to
com.bmc.arsys.emaildaemon.SendEmailSetSize=50

Thanks

Creating CMDB Relationships on Import

2010-02-17 Thread Jase Brandon
Hello All,
I have been requested to create workflow so that on import I can accomplish
two things with CI's:
1) Create relationships to existing CI's on import.
2) Create relationships while importing New CI's.
3) Rename CI Classes and change the Manage CI's menu. ( I think the answer
to this is Create new CI Class, then import data from Old CI Class.

I took a cursory look at how to go about this and it seems that this is
going to be an extremely tricky/complicated process.
Generating GUID at the right time, in the right place and propagating to
other CI forms,etc.

Has anyone done this? Done anything like this?
Is there a BMC utility I am unaware of? It seems this would be something
that everyone would want to do. Or - is manual relationship creation the
best answer?

PS - I have obviously not been to any CMDB Training for 7X.

We are having a really bizarre issue with importing any form, active link,
filter or escalation from our Development Server to our Production Server.
Both are at the same version (ARS 7.1 P7). Both DB's are at the same
version Oracle 10g. And both servers are Windows 2003 boxes. We try to
take great care in keeping both boxes exactly the same.

I tried a simple form with a menu, a filter, and an active link. They
wouldn't load. It generated the following errors.

The file specified for a character menu does not hold a character menu
definition: (ARERR 414)

The file specified for an active link does not hold an active link
definition: (ARERR 413)

I tried the menu alone. It errored.

When I tried to just import the form I would get:

The following item was not imported: Junk (ARERR 55)

The file specified for a character menu does not hold a character menu
definition: (ARERR 414)

The file specified for an active link does not hold an active link
definition: (ARERR 413)

Has anyone ever seen this issue before?

When I export from Dev and import back into Dev, it's fine. As of
yesterday morning, when I exported from Prod and imported back into Prod,
everything is fine. It's when I try to export from Dev into Prod.

Almost.

(This applies to 7.0.3, haven't seen 7.6 yet) There's a hidden enumerated field
Invesitgation Status Reason (I just noticed the spelling - nice) that gets
set with whatever the user chooses from the z1D_Status_Reason field (which is
the one that they see and is display only). Workflow keeps them in sync. The
display only field uses a search menu, so that is just configuration. But the
hidden field is an enumerated field with fixed values for any possible status
reason (not just cancelled).
[cid:image001.gif@01CAAFD5.580FB640]
I can add values to that field, but it also shows up on a couple of other
forms, and I'd have track down any related workflow. Plus I don't want to use
an ID that will be overwritten in future versions.

All in all, its not a super-duper hard customization, but I'd rather avoid
customizing at all. Being able to point to options in the next version would
help me make my case.

Server Group Upgrade

2010-02-17 Thread Robert Halstead
All,

We currently are running AR System 6.3 and are planning on upgrading to 7.5
next month. We have been through the upgrade process with BMC on our
development system, however, our development box doesn't have a server group
setup. I've gotten little documentation from BMC regarding upgrading a
server group environment.

There's also a caveat, in the upgrade procedure we need to perform an
upgrade to 7.1 first, then from 7.1 to 7.5 because the 7.5 installer does
not upgrade our 6.3 system correctly. We have ran through the upgrade of
6.3 to 7.5 several times and by stepping the upgrade to 7.1 first, it has
been successful every time.

The docs for 7.5 are a little confusing to me when it comes to the server
group upgrade portion and I have put together some steps that I wonder if
the List could look at and confirm that they look good. I've ran the list
past BMC, however, I'm not confident in their approval because of their lack
of documentation (just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy I'm looking for).

The procedure that I have come up with is as follows:

1: Stop AR System on our 1st and 2nd application servers.
2: Run the 7.1 Upgrade against 1st application server and select the UPGRADE
option.
3: Run the 7.1 Upgrade against 2nd application server and select the SHARE
option.
4: Break the server group by un-checking Server Group on our application
servers.
5: Upgrade the approval server on our 1st application server to 7.1.
6: Upgrade the email engine on our 1nd application server to 7.1.
7: Upgrade the assignment engine on 1st application server to 7.1.
8: Upgrade the approval server on our 2nd application server to 7.1.
9: Upgrade the email engine on our 2nd application server to 7.1.
10: Upgrade the assignment engine on 2nd application server to 7.1.
11: Relink the server group between our application servers (sanity check).
Ensure Remedy is running correctly or can at least start up.
12: Stop AR System on both servers.
13: Run the 7.5 Upgrade against our 1st application server and select the
UPGRADE option.
14: Run the 7.5 Upgrade against our 2nd application server and select the
Server Group option.
15: Break the server group by un-checking Server Group on both application
servers.
16: Upgrade the approval server on our 1st application server to 7.5.
17: Upgrade the email engine on our 1nd application server to 7.5.
18: Upgrade the assignment engine on 1st application server to 7.5.
19: Upgrade the approval server on our 2nd application server to 7.5.
20: Upgrade the email engine on our 2nd application server to 7.5.
21: Upgrade the assignment engine on 2nd application server to 7.5.
22: Relink the server group.
23: Run Smoke tests on workflow, testing, etc...

I'm a little confused when it comes to the supporting applications such as
the email engine and approval server as the docs are a little confusing on
when to upgrade them. If anyone could provide some input on this process it
will be a great help to my coworkers and I.

Thanks for your time,

I've never done what you are trying, so take this with a grain of salt. I
wouldn't personally think you need to upgrade the email engine to 7.1 at
allI've never worked with Approval...but I think Email and Approval
should be uninstalled at the 6.3 level, then re-installed at the 7.5
level...of course preserving any config changes you have made to out of the
box.

Subject: Server Group Upgrade

** All,

Re: Server Group Upgrade

2010-02-17 Thread Joe D'Souza
Bob,

Somewhere in the whole scheme of steps you have missed out on new licenses.
Licenses for 7.5 versions is different from 6.3. You need to regenerate and
reapply all applicable licenses to both the servers..

This could be the end step if you are not going to be running ARS 7.1 on a
production run at all..

The Server Group configurations have ranking operations for most server based
operations.. The ranks of these operations decide what server will do what..
The lower the rank, the higher it is on that operation scheme.. In your case
you have two servers, you can rank with 1 and 2 for each operation.. While both
the servers are up, the operations that have rank 1, will activate on the
configured server. When that server fails, the server with the next rank on
that server group, will take up that operation.

Email attachments getting dropped

2010-02-17 Thread Ramey, Anne
We are seeing today a problem with emails with attachments. Some emails that
have attachements when they arrive in the email box (we have validated that
they really did have attachments), don't get the attachments correctly attached
to the email messages form. There are no errors in the email logs. We haven't
yet managed to catch it in the filter logs. They are quite small attachments
and a resend of the message works fine, so it doesn't appear to be message
specific. It's all messages for one check of the email box. For example, the
emailbox is checked at 1:33 and none of the attachments come through. It
checks again at 1:48 and it's fine.

Re: ORA-01406: fetched column value was truncated

2010-02-17 Thread Joe D'Souza
Robert,

Appears like you might have some corruption in your ARS meta data.. Go into
SQL Developer. Describe T570, and check the lengths of each of those
selected columns reports.

Then open up your Developer Studio or Admin Client whatever you use, and
check the lengths there..

Check for any discrepancies.. correct them if any.

Also before correcting that, you may want to run a select max(Cn) from T570
for each of those columns to check what is the max length of data in each of
those columns to give you an idea of what your column sizes should be..

  Dear List,

We have a form that we have been using for years, but when I try to do a
unqualified search I get : ORA-01406: fetched column value was truncated.
The sql log shows the same message, but no indication of what is causing it.

The sql log selection statement is: SELECT * FROM ( SELECT
T570.C1,C2,C561000257,C561000214,C8 FROM T570 ORDER BY 1 ASC ) WHERE ROWNUM
= 2147483648.

I can paste this statement into SQL Developer, and it runs with no
problem.

I can open individual entries with no problem, but somewhere there must
be a problem entry.

How can I track it down?

Not sure if anyone ever answered
this question for you, but my OOTB 7.6 has only one Status Reason for Cancelled
and that is Duplicate Investigation. If these follow the same path
as Incident Management then the process to change these is very convoluted
and overly complicated.

Almost.

(This applies to 7.0.3, haven't seen 7.6 yet) There's a hidden enumerated
field Invesitgation Status Reason (I just noticed the spelling
- nice) that gets set with whatever the user chooses from the z1D_Status_Reason
field (which is the one that they see and is display only). Workflow
keeps them in sync. The display only field uses a search menu, so
that is just configuration. But the hidden field is an enumerated
field with fixed values for any possible status reason (not just cancelled).

I can add values to that field, but it also shows up on a couple of other
forms, and I'd have track down any related workflow. Plus I don't
want to use an ID that will be overwritten in future versions.

All in all, its not a super-duper hard customization, but I'd rather avoid
customizing at all. Being able to point to options in the next version
would help me make my case.

as we have those set for our current production environment. I will also
add the licenses to the end of the list as well.

Actually your licenses should import automatically. 7.1 will read the 6.3
license files and add the data to the new admin forms the 1st time each server
is started. You will want to review the license counts in step 11 but you
should not have to add any manually.

Also I would definitely add in a new step 2: Back up the Database and file
system.

Re: Creating CMDB Relationships on Import

2010-02-17 Thread Remedy
For point #3, when you say rename CI Classes, what part are you looking to
rename. By chance when you created a new class, did you ended up with an
InstanceId for a name? If this is the case, then yes this can be fixed
easily. The fix to ensure that future class names are created with the name
you want is also an easy fix.

You can use either a filter or activelink to generate GUID values for either
your classes InstanceId or ReconId. The developer guide tells you the best
level to create these values.

viewID = Field ID for the View of the ARS form that you want to hide
the field on

propertyId =
public static final int AR_DPROP_VISIBLE 4

Value =
public static final int AR_DISPLAY_OPT_HIDDEN 2
public static final int AR_DISPLAY_OPT_VISIBLE 1
( Which you may need to wrap up in an com.bmc.arsys.api.Value object.)

Hope that helps.
