@Tom, Ive heard of laptops with instant dvd playback. it wouldnt suit me because a laptop screen is far too small for me to really get much from the dvd, but I can see the advantage, although Ill stick with the power dvd program and my 40 inch plasma monstrosity. I got back to my parents and last night went out with my brother for a meal and to continue attack on titan. We ended up at a steakhouse hes very fond of (appropriately enough given all the vampires Ive been watching), WHICH WAS AMAZING! I had their filet steak, and shocked my mun with the price, but hay it was awsome, and came with an amazing red wine and mushroom sauce. We also shared a starter and I had a really nice dessert calling itself chocolate junkyard, which was sort of like a chocolate ganash with a pastry bace and chocolate sauce. Definitely good.I got a look at the new mk game and a lot made me laugh, particularly the x raay moves where you see the
opponents bones get broken. Im sort of amused by the fact that the fatalities have gone even grosser, and people are continuing to be shocked, like scorpian blowing open the opponents chest and their heart dangling out. Contrast and 3D backgrounds again are a bit much for me sight wise which is annoying but Im pretty resigned at this point to nobody making 16 bit style games anymore, or anything I find remotely playable. (I could do the sound learning thing but that is just plane annoying after being able to see the at least enough details to distinguish game objects, or at least the player from background, the ledges or the opponent even if other stuff I need to guess at in a good many 8 and 16 bit era, and even some 32 bit era games).Sometimes I think if I was born now rather than back in the 80s Id probably have never got into gaming. It was a bit late when we started titan, but Attack on Titan continues to be great. it
;s odd, Im not usually too much of a fan of military focused series, far too much matcho posturing and bravado around war, but Titan manages to do an amazing job, mostly because the titans themselves the soldiers are fighting are bloody evil! You have to respect someone when the commander of the scouts stands up and tells the new recruits quite honestly that in the last 4 years theyve had a %60 death rate an those who join will probably die, and yet people end up joining anyway, often just to support each other. I also like the way that though the main character is Aran, the boy whos seaking for revenge its not all about him, last night we had an episode focusing on Jon, someone who starts off as a total arse just out for himself but then actually realizes the only way he can survive is becoming actually quite an amazing commander. Were approaching the end of the series and there are lots of questions still about the titans, so Ill be
interested to see how things wrap up.Btw, fallen london = bust unfortunately on access, plus it is so freemium its a major pest, with half of the stories requiring freemium currency to play. A shame, sinse the idea was good and the writing had twinges of atmosphere, but hay drakor is prooving fun and there are lots of other good games and muds out there, not to mention some good stuff in development like Entombed ii.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Well, as for myself. Currently I am upgrading an older Averetec 6240, restoring it to working order, because although it is old it is a good multimedia laptop. One of the particular features I love about the Averetec 6240 is that it was designed to be a portable DVD player. There are multimedia controls on the front of the case that allows me to open the DVD drive, to play, stop, fast forward, and rewind DVD movies. Best of all I dont even have to boot the laptop. Just press the power button, open the drive, and use the laptop as a portable DVD player without having to load Windows. The other feature I like about this laptop is because it was manufactured around 2006 it came originally with Windows XP. I have decided not to upgrade the operating system as I want to keep XP on there for gaming. As we all know there are plenty of older Dos games like Facing the Empire, Wrestling League Manager, Piledriver, among others that simply wont work on Windows 7 or Wi
ndows 8 without extensive emulation etc. So I am keeping an older XP machine around especially for games and other stuff that will not work on modern Windows. For me its the best solution to the compatibility problem. I have newer laptops with newer versions of Windows, but one older laptop especially for older software. Its a win/win situation.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Well I thought Id post to this thread and hopefully get things out of the slough of dispond we have wandered into. The last few days Ive been taken up with several things, particularly the new entombed, considering gameplay, testing versions and communicating on the forum and on the entombed list, I dont think Ive been as excited about anything for quite some time. Ive also been continuing with buffy and I will confess things are getting interesting, indeed Tom is correct on Angel changing albeit I think he makes a much better bad guy than he did a good guy. Also, for the first time in Buffy I really liked the way some details of the supernatural world interacted with the characters, both in terms of the relationships between spike, drusilla and Angel, and the business about Angels soul and the rules under which hed lose it. This is actually just the sort of thing I like to see in fantasy, using the fantastical elements to do intere
sting things with the characters, oh, and on an action basis I have to say Buffy blowing up the evil Judge demon with a rocket launcher was just plane cool! and a very nice solution to no weapon forged could hurt him his whats that when buffy pointed the launcher at him made me laugh. Action on its own withh no plot, characters or world to back it up I find way too thin and unsatisfying, but action when you get to see characters you like get to layeht the smacketh down is just cool! It actually reminded me of a very similar moment from rememberance of the Daleks where one of the Daleks calls ace a small human and she responds by yelling who are you calling small? and then giving Mr. Dalek a rocket launcher streight in the eye stick. speaking of Doctor who and awsome action ladies, I also just heard the 4th doctors latest, and leela still rocks! :d.Ive also run across some interesting gam
e related stuff. Ive been playing several games off and on sinse for some reason I am finding concentrating on one game, particularly with grindy repetitive tasks difficult, I tend to be in very much a story mood, so while Ive enjoyed checking out prometheous and deathmatch, not to mention Aardwolf I find myself not wanting to spend too much time with each. The browser game Drakor is prooving fun particularly sinse I can stick my character mining or logging while I watch buffy, also the developer has responded very well to some access suggestions. Last night however I did run across something that looks awsome, albeit the website is a little squiffy. the game fallen london which is entirely story based and like a huge gamebook. Ive heard of this one before but I seem to remember either they previously only worked through facebook or they had an annoying site. Ill be interested to check them out and see whats going, particularly with
me being a fan of victoriana, though ill make a more full announcement in new releases when I know what is what.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@TwardYes they have already done this. A young woman has come to my school since the 10th of April and we have talked about how are we going to deal with final exams. What I really think most of the public schools should do here, is hiring one or two or more people specialized in giving assistance to people with special disabilities. Since most of the teachers do not have a clew how to help us, although they try to do their best, I think the government should employ some people, or at least give instruction to teachers how to help us regarding lessons.High school is in my opinion the best experience everyone will have through all school years. I feel it in my bones now that the school years of high school are ending. Thinking about university, it will certainly be a dull time because you have to stay for long hours there. Attending seminars, writing long and difficult projects and all that stuff. This seems to have nothing apart from lessons and high school time will definitely remain my good old days.About music, I can say that commercialism is going into its highest peak. Thinking that music is falling back on facebook, photoshop and instagram, it’s something we should be regretful of. There are still some artists who are producing good music in England, but if they launche an album, and it consists of 8 to 10 songs, 1 or 2 will satisfy your demands. There’s nobody who comes close to Queen or Scorpions or other singers from USA and other places.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

You get the best experience in the end of each school level and the most toughest thing about it is that it ends rapidly.I don’t really like some ways people used to spend their spare time. As you said, Dark, it isn’t really amazing and satisfying going into a dark night dancing till your body is collapsed and consuming amounts of alcohol while you could go with your friends some where quiet and talk for long hours, which at least wouldn’t cause anything bad to your health.Anyway this really depends on the kind of person. We cannot really be the same, but those things I mentioned above aren’t really such helpful.Although so many people talk about progression in all its aspects, I don’t really see any progression in the humanity. Many people, at least here, but I believe also in many other places used to be, what we call here materialists. They do not have any good sense of friendship and kill their time with their iPhones, tablets and other technological devices completely alone, which is really harmful and really not beneficial. The development and advancement it’s clearly shown in the technology.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Afrim, university can be a very good experience so if I were you not to write it off as potentially being dull, boring, or unexciting. Believe it or not there are many things about university that are better than high school, or at least I felt so.For one thing freedom to not only pick your classes but to schedule them around your own personal schedule. That made a big difference for me because not only could I pick the classes I wanted to take during a semester I could have some freedom on what days and what times Id take them which was much less restrictive than high school. I think it really helped motivate me to study more and work harder when I was calling the shots so to speak.Something else that makes university a good experience is the number of clubs and groups one can join. I know when I was at university there were a number of group activities I could join. There were roll playing groups, Chess clubs, and video game groups that were all centered on
gaming. There were movie groups which one could join that would rent a movie on the weekend and order pizza, drink soda, and snack on popcorn while watching the latest movie rentals. Point being university isnt all studying, lectures, etc and can be a great place to socialize and get to know people. As far as music goes you are correct. Today it is all about commercialism. At one time a musician had to have talent to get a record sold, but any more the studios cover up his/her mistakes with tools like autotune and seem to publish anything they think will capture the teen market. Added to that sexual appeal and by that I mean a lot of the male singers look like sex studs and the women are half dressed models there to sell the record based on his/her state of undress rather than singing ability.@Dark, well regarding groups, clubs, and alike many US schools tend to have a lot of those. Obviously not being from the UK I cant say how they compare to UK secondary
schools, but what I can say US schools usually have a lot of after school activities. One of the major ones is school sponsored sports such as football, track, wrestling, and basketball. We also have plenty of non-sports related activities like drama club, band, creative writing, and so forth which are all fun groups to be involved in. In any case there are lots of ways to socialize in US schools, and it is the clubs and group activities I miss most about high school.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Tom that is rather different. My decent secondary school where I did my A levels had sports teams, but never being into sport I didnt particularly bother with those, it also had a choire I joined (although when i was 16-18 my voice didnt know what it was doing and I was still singing soprano), and there was open forum which was run by the provost of the cathedral the school was attached to, which was a sort of informal debating/discussion group. That was pretty much it. I dont think in Britain clubs etc really get going until you get to university, where there are literally hundreds for every activity from rock climbing to chocolate appreciation. I myself was heavily involved with the philosophy society as I said, which at a university like Durham was quite a major deal, sinse it involved inviting speakers from all sorts of places as well as organizing shindigs, I was also a part of my colige choire (remember Durham is colegic like oxford and cambr
idge so you lived in your colige, and each colige had its own choires, drama groups, sports teams etc as well as the university ones).I also attempted to get into the light opera society which actually started me on singing, mostly because they were the first group who refused me entrance, and for years I went over to newcastle university which was an hours journey away to do that. I did try the tabletop gaming society, but they didnt really run organized games or were that serious so I wound up just meeting several friends of friends, all ex students for games. More than activities though, it was just the atmosphere and the fact that Ive rarely been somewhere where people were so acceptingg, or where people were so casual, I quite often ended up with room guests or being a guest myself elsewhere just to sit around and have conversation, indeed I remember one very weerd and quite unfortgetable occasion at the end of my first term where I
had six different people all show up at my room once. The ironic thing was one was russian, one from the states, one polish, and one Scottish, it was sort of the international convocation of randomness .I dont think Ive ever had that sort of socialization or acceptance sinse, well only perhaps at the aims music school I go to for a week each summer. I actually heard recently that university (at least in britain), is unlike any other environment in terms of acceptance. Of course it doesnt work that way for everyone, I recently heard of a blind girl who had very much the opposite experience, but I definitely think that was the best time in my life and often wish I could go back to something like that. Btw, American universities must be very weerd with classes. Ive never heard of being able to choose your ow
n schedule. you do choose which modules to take during your degree, and each module has its own lecture each week and tutorial but you pretty much just sign up for those and are given a time table. Of course it wasnt like being at school, there were only 6 lectures and three tutorials a week, the rest of your work you had to do on your own, and of course often after lectures or tutorials youd wind up going to acafe or the pub or something, indeed someone who has continued to be a good friend of mine I first got to know when one of our lectures was delayed for two hours and sinse it was a half hours walk back to colige I asked if she fancied going for coffee and a chat. @Afrim, about human progress I dont know, technology, especially mobile technology is a two edged sword, much as I personally have a grudge against 3d games and wish we couldve stuck with the 16 bit era and games I could play . But looked at objectively, on the one hand mobile phones mean a way for companies to monopolise and advertise more than ever before, and the facebook craze does result in a lack of communication. On the other, mobiles do mean things like cheap and affordable satnav aps, touch screens and accessible games, and even the net obsession means its possible to keep in touch with people a long way away. Unfortunately the deciding factor doesnt seem to be technology but people and organizations and how things are used, and I confess that is something I have largely lost faith in. Btw, I dont usually share my poetry with anyone because like the Vogan captain in h2g2 I write poems chiefly to throw my mean, callous heartless exterior into sharp relief, however I have done a couple that are more social commentry and here

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Oh tward you seem to be lucky where you are. Here we do not have so many clubs during university and you do not have many choices to pick. The most boring thing is that some professors may not come at the right time, or they may postpone the time when they come to university and attend lessons so you have to stick in any cafe around until they come. The law does not work so good here and that’s why I don’t like it so much. For example, if the lessons starts at 9:00 AM, you may take part in the lecture till 10:00, and wait for the other professor to come. Sometimes they have to go in other schools, something I don’t know who the fuck allows to go on and you have to wait until 12:00 or so until they come and attend the lesson. While in high school, you go to school at 8:00 AM, and come back home at 1:00 PM. There is no break between different subjects. but Only five minutes.Regarding music, I can say that you’re totally right. Most of the songs will have to do with sex and other stuff like that.Really there are only few singers who can do a great music nowadays. They rely on clips which are posted on youtube and other sites.Something very shocking though, I read on a forum which took me aback, was a research on the most expensive video clips. Imagining that a singer has spent an amount of 7 million € for a clip sounds extremely foolish and it really makes me pessimist because more and more artists are doing that everyday.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Afrim, I agree with you about high school. I think high school was the best years of my school years because there were a lot more things to get involved in such as clubs, dances, football games, and other sports so it was a really fun and enjoyable time for me. In fact, since graduating nothing has come quite close to how high school was. Of course, I did go to college, which wasnt bad, but it still wasnt quite like high school. As for my senior finals I had a reader-writer who read the questions to me and wrote down my answers or filled in the dots on my answer sheet for me. We went into an empty classroom where she read my tests to me and wrote down my answers. It was no big deal, and Id imagine your school might be able to provide something similar for you.@Dark, nightmare is an understatement. My hearing loss has been effecting every single aspect of my life. Im having troubles communicating with people who dont talk loud enough, ha
ving troubles with listening to TV or radio unless I crank up the volume, have troubles playing certain audio games , and even have some difficulties navigating my flat. What I mean by that last is simply this. I use to be able to hear walls, doors, and other things via echo location and now I cant. So consequently I find myself frequently walking face first into walls, banging my head on open doors, or running into various other things because I simply cant hear them around me. I imagine there are mobility techniques and ways of handling this, but I was never trained with hearing issues in mind so am frequently behaving more and more like the stereotypical blind man such as I walk around with one hand out in front of my face so I dont run into an open closet door or plow face first into a wall. It is exceedingly frustrating as I never had that problem up until the last year or so.What scares me, terrifies me, is I am unsure how independent Ill b
e able to be without my hearing. At one time back in my 20s I lived alone on campus and had little to no troubles getting around town and doing what I needed to do. However, not being able to hear as well as see is going to be a super bitch. I am not sure how to cope with two disabilities like that. One thing I can say for sure you are right about fate. It seems whatever cosmic force that deals out crap always seems to give some people far more than they need while leaving some people virtually crap free. I have no clue as to why that is but can say it happens with an alarming regularity.@Wanderer, glad to know Im not the only one who thinks most of the stuff on the radio today is lyrically mundane, instrumentally dull shit. I loved music from the 70s, 80s, and even some of the stuff from the 90s, but the stuff today I do not even call music. Even artists who have been around for 20 or 30 years are starting to sound that way which is
 sad.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Yeah, being blind can be a real bastard sometimes. In fact, a lot of the time, but it happens to be the hand we have been dealt. So have to deal with it the best way that we can. What Im finding difficult is that I am slowly going deaf, am now having serious hearing difficulties, and that makes the blindness doubly hard since I can no longer reliably depend on my hearing for things. Im looking for another mobility specialist, one who can deal with deaf-blind students, since all the ones I have worked with in the past assume you can hear things. At the time I worked with them when I was younger my hearing was fine so was able to reliably do the things they taught me. However, with my hearing being unreliable Im at a point where traveling alone is an iffy proposition since I cant use my ears to make up the difference as I once did.In any case having Chinese food sounds good. I love Chinese. I might make up a dish of Chinese tonight for dinner sinc
e I have the stuff to make some pineapple chicken tonight. I havent had Chinese food in a while so that sounds like it would hit the spot for sure.

It’s been going, good, not bad, just school and all its stuff. Enjoying the last days of high school and feeling nostalgic about the days I spent in this school. What I can say is that high school, without a doubt, gives you the most wonderful experience in the whole process of your education, starting from first days of primary school to last days of graduation in the university.I have also got an assistant at my public school who can help me on what I need, e.g, taking notes and she will be the person who will help me in the final exams, because they don’t provide us with brail or any other method of reading and writing. So she will have to read the question, exercises and all the stuff, and I’ll have to answer and then she will write them down.In fact, this was a question I wanted to ask in the off-topic forum. How did you do the final tests if you graduated from a public school. Did you get the assistance of a sited person like me?Thank you and wish you all a good time.

@TwardI’m really really sorry about your hearing problems. I know a bit what does it mean to have hearing impairments because about six months ago I had a problem, which was passed in a few minutes, but kept going on for a week.I instantly became inactive, I didn’t participate in the discussions at school, and I used to talk only when people came close to me. That was a very frustrating problem. I hope I won’t come across it again. Also, I think echo location which is present at most blind people doesn’t work so good which makes everything crap.In a few words, hearing impairments will make your work double when you are a blind person.

@Tom, Im extremely sorry to here about the hearing difficulties, that must be a nightmare. unfortunately this goes along with the general theory Ive had over the past few years which is that fate, or karma or God or whichever cosmic force doles out the bad stuff likes to keep things neat by dumping crap on people who already have large piles of crap to deal with, while leaving anyone who lives a life comparatively crap free perminantly crap free. On the plus side, the Mongolian special was very nice, not as spicy as some of the things I have from their like their Kung po, but I fancied a change. I have a good local chinese, and one thing I particularly like that they do is a starter package for one where you get one of each sort of starter such as a peace of prawn toast and a spring roll and some seaweed, which makes it perfect for a solo meal. @Cae, good luck with the insects. There will doubtless be some around here soon, though to say how
much grass and trees there is around here there is never an invasion, though sinse I live pretty far north (there was a cold breeze today despite it being sunny), and sinse I live in an upstairs flat anyway its less likely.

For example, when the teacher asks the question, and I dont remember it right away and keep thinking for some minutes, I got the impression like my teacher is saying to me, come on, dont you know it?This makes me feel not such good. When Im doing them with my laptop, I got enough time to think about it, and to manage my time, although the teacher is always ready to do what I say.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Tests are generally given to me in braille, and I complete them on whatever device I have at the time. Sometimes, if they arent brailled, they might be done orally. but this was rare and depended on the teacher.Speaking of final exams... I should be doing an enormous French Test right now. I had the misfortune of stumbling upon a Young Justice self-insert fanfiction at the same time. Im kinda worried.(The premise is that a random guy from Eastborn wakes up in space in the DC Universe with an Orange Lantern ring, and proceeds to use his powers considerably more creatively than most Green Lanterns seem to. He occasionally throws in what-if Renegade Version bits, but after the first few, theyre not well marked. Its more fun than Hollywood but still doesnt break formula often. The Orange power comes from avarous (I have no idea
how to spell that... greed/desire/selfishness), so theres something of a subplot going on with the psychological effects, but mostly its fairly standard overt SI superheroing.)I got a call the other day, saying that my interim DSB person wanted to set up a meeting. When I called them, I was basically given an hour and fifteen minutes notice that they would be coming by to meet at my place. Im not complaining, but it was rather unexpected and oh look I actually got up and started taking care of things in 40 minutes flat. Huh.The intern that attended the meeting mentioned a local programming company that does small contract jobs for companies and such. It doesnt sound like they require that much experience, either--he mentioned people that interned with them having had only a semester of Visual Basic. While this all sounds quite lovely, I am given to wonder if maybe there is a somewhat important GUI development component to all this that could mayb
e make things somewhat difficult for me.I also brought up the NFB training centers, and it was suggested they contract someone to come up here (cheaper that way). I do not mind although my main attraction to the NFB centers is the fact that there would be no choice but to either stop freaking out over everything, or developing full-blown panic attacks (one is good, the other would mean Id have something doctors could actually work with).Mostly I want to be able to leave the house. The bus system appears to be expanding, some. If I wasnt so needlessly terrified of bugs* / people / crossing a driveway and veering into the street / the fact that I have no idea what Id do after the bus dropped me off anywhere, Id probably just cancel my internet, make note of everything I need to look up, then deal with all of that at Starbux or something.* So many wasps (rather large wasps at that) and mosquitoes... Relocate the former, unleash an army of ba
ts and/or Fogger Quadcopter Robots (Id just call them mechabats for short) on the latter. The wasps have been getting in my sink. I think theyre gone now. Im not sure what happened. Im worried that killing them will mean a Ladybug infestation. Maybe I should just go to Canada.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Cae, encouragement speaches annoy me as well, mostly because they are made by people whos worst traumer is not feeling like doing their homework or not feeling accepted rather than being actively barred from doing things or worse. I will say I loved secondary school and university though, so on that basis Im a trifle jealous wanderer, although of course it depends upon what uni you go to and who you end up with. I havent seen too much by Weaden, just firefly and buffy so far, though Ive heard good things about some of his other series even though some didnt get of the ground as they shouldve done. Firefly is however awsome, a very unique world and some really striking characters although irritatingly there are only a few episodes made due to it getting cancelled and though the serenity film did finish off one of the series main plots in a really interesting way it was still rather rushed in places.@Aaron, I
;m jealous of the florida trip, also Ive heard good things about mkx particularly with it being 2d, Ill probably have a go at my brothers at some point, though the last 2D game I saw had so complex 3D backgrouns it was still nearly invisible (3D graphics should be banned!). I finished Dorian grey. ACtually the third series addressed some of the issues I had with the first two, rather than just being short stories of oh look at the pretentious dark horror which I suppose was sort of fitting for a character created by Osca Wild (those aesthetic poets were quite the hipsters), the third series had ongoing plot and some really interesting moments. I think the creators took a little inspiration from Captain Jack given that dorian grey was both immortal and bi and his major romance was with another man (although quite an unusual man), however the plot was interesting and sinse the episodes were longer it lead more time to explore things. There wa
s for example one episode Dorian being stalked by a psychopath who saw him as the perfect victim sinse he could keep killing him. One comment also made me smile when Dorian met a business man hed been involved with in 2007, who told him all that headonism stuff is so norties, now its just about money and who has it a nice observation I thought. The final resolution was quite interesting and Ive heard the teaser for the next series which again goes into some quite unique teretory particularly sinse from what I gather unlike the first its not set in the modern day but some time in the late fourties Im now reading Ian Banks Use of weapons sinse I wanted to go back to some good sf. A little confusing thus far but with awsome language and ideas.I also played a lot of Aardwolf which was fun, albeit one quest didnt go as expected, though I am liking the areas and description and the continual levelling progress though annoyingly
I think Im going to have to minimax equipment which I always dislike doing in games sinse its usually really uninteresting. no immediate plans for today but go back to my flat, watch buffy and gnosh on pizza, actually after rushing around london itll be nice to get back and have a break.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Wanderer, Sorry about your disilusion with school. Id like to say your wrong but not quite. Personally i did have a great time at uni because people were decent and I was doing something amazingly interesting and getting involved with things that interested me, but that finished unfortunately. It was the realistic characters in Were alive that made it. I agree with you on standard zombocalypse fiction, but there are some good examples and were alive is one, Justin Cronins passage series is another. Asimov is a good author for setting up puzzles and intreagues but I always find his characters very flat, (his female characters especially are a joke), indeed the foundation has some amazing ideas behind it but it is probably the most polite and lack luster fall of a galactic empire that you could imagine, he also falls into the trap that several hard sf writers do of assuming that a supreme interlect basically can solve every problem and become quite li
terally a deus ex machina. I read the series a couple of times as a teenager, but I primarily reread them because I didnt originally understand all the concepts involved when I first read them at the age of eleven, then I read them again three or four years later and got a better idea, though unfortunately found them a bit too clinical as I said. Still, give them a try and see what you think. Personally I dont distinguish between fantasy, sf, horror or whatever. As to satnav aps, I use blind square myself which I paid for and have been happy with, I like the way its so easy to tell where you are and what is around you, but I freely admit it isnt a subject Ive made extensive study of.As for me, Ive just finished the aims music school. This weekend was supposed to be a couple of days of classes and auditions and a preparation for the mane school in summer. Unfortunately I had a god awful sore throat, an extention of
the infection Ive had for the last month which meant my singing was really not up to much, but it was fun to hear everyone else, albeit due to it now being in the center of London and some annoying transport issues involving underground stations and lack of access for guide dogs (guide dogs and escalators dont mix), it was a bit hechtic, indeed I ended up running out early and missing the concert due to the fact that we thought the trains were delayed, which they werent! bloody transport! At least I can send an audition piece by recording when my throat is recovered which it will hopefully do soon. But it was good to see everyone and listen to what other people were doing, and of course I picked up some good music to have a bash at as I always do. Today I dont have any plans but recovering and listening to more of the Dorian grey audio series. Its not been bad, about an immortal man who lives through the 20th and late 19th cent
uries, but I do wish the stories werent so much short pastiches of his life often with horror or supernatural elements and they told something with a bit more go. Its also very odd to hear colin baker as a rather dim security guard in one story sinse Im so used to him as the sixth doctor.

Well, there have been a few things going on here, though not necessarily for the better. My parents may be going through a divorce, which is bad enough, and Im starting to think about moving, being as Im now eighteen, and already feel like I should be doing much more than I am right now. I just filled out an application for the college I plan to attend (I shouldve done this much sooner, as graduation is a bit less than two months away) and so if Im going anywhere anytime soon it will probably be an apartment over there. Ive become even more discouraged with high school, and dont think Ill be going to my graduation. Ive accomplished essentially nothing in the past few years, and feel like I actually may have been a better and more intelligent person when I started high school than I am now. I dont feel right going to a ceremony thats supposed to symbolize the beginning of the transition from youth into a responsible, produ
ctive adult, when I feel anything but, also I really dont feel like listening to all the popular, pretty, ambitious but shallow 4.0 students at the top of my class give their speeches about how theyre so excited for the future, how theyre just oh so happy and everyone else needs to be exactly as they are as well, that all you need is a passion, that you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it, yada, yada, yada. I seem to have only grown more directionless; from all the research Ive done, it seems like a career in technology is a rat race, and I want to do something where I can actually help people and make a positive difference in peoples lives. Hopefully Ill find whatever it is I want to do in college, but Im not very optomistic, as high school has for the most part just been one discouragement after another. On a more positive note, Ive just found out that Symphony X will be touring in my state in October, and hope I
ll be able to see them; theyre also going to release a new album sometime soon, which Im very much looking forward to.Ive never been much into fantasy literature, it just never seems to catch my interest, and Im not sure that will change anytime soon. I might try and give a Song of Ice and Fire another go in the future, but for now Im pretty occupied when it comes to books. Im about to start Paradise Lost, All the Light We Cannot See which is about a blind girl in World War II occupied France, and the Foundations trilogy by Isaac Asimov. Im sure this will be interesting.I finished Were Alive a while ago and liked it, though its definitely not one of my favorites. For one, Im just generally not a fan of those types of appocalypse stories, I.E. violence, constant non-stop fast-paced action usually involving a lot of gun sounds, rushed romances, gangs, brutal survivalism, insert monster/natural disaster here,
so a lot of its probably just me. That being said it was a nice story, and I like that the characters actually developed and had emotions. One of the things I disliked though was that there wasnt a whole lot of background for them; after listening to just a few episodes of Leviathan I knew a lot more about the lives of the major characters than you ever find out about most of them in WA. Also the ending was just sad, and felt almost totally hopeless. Im anxiously awaiting new releases from Leviathan and Edict Zero, the latter of which should have a new episode out shortly. Speaking of the Leviathan Chronicles, there hasnt been an update for over five months now, has anyone heard anything. Also, what are some other good similar-quality audio dramas? I know there have been some topics about this in the past, but theyre very long and I dont feel like looking through all of them. One last thing, which I hope isnt too inappropriate for the
topic being as its a technology question. What are some good GPS apps for iOS/Android? I know about Blindsquare and Nearby Explorer, but they cost money, and there are a bunch of free ones out there such as the Sendero one, which I am wondering are any good. Any advice?Thats about all for me, hope everyone is doing well.

Also, my hearing loss has caused my pitch perception to change, so that everything sound just slightly lower. I Usually o
nly notice this with Music, but while its minor, its very noticable and annoying, making most everything except some thrash metal, which Ive begun to enjoy in recent weeks but is not one of the primary genres I listen to, sound wrong. Or, for all I know, I might be hearing things as theyre supposed to sound when they sound lower; since its subjective and I never learned the whole musical scale theres really no way to measure it, and the whole thing just gives me a headache. On a more positive note, Ive just found out that Symphony X will be touring in my state in October, and hope Ill be able to see them; theyre also going to release a new album sometime soon, which Im very much looking forward to.Ive never been much into fantasy literature, it just never seems to catch my interest, and Im not sure that will change anytime soon. I might try and give a Song of Ice and Fire another go in the future, but
for now Im pretty occupied when it comes to books. For one, Im just generally not a fan of those types of appocalypse stories, I.E. violence, constant non-stop fast-paced action usually involving a lot of gun sounds, rushed romances, gangs, brutal survivalism, insert monster/natural disaster here, so a lot of its probably just me. That being said it was a nice story, and I like that the characters actually developed and had emotions. One of the things I disliked though was that there wasnt a whole lot of background for them; after listening to just a few episodes of Leviathan I knew a lot more about the lives of the major characters than y
ou ever find out about most of them in WA. One last thing, which I hope isnt too inappropriate for the topic being as its a technology question. What are some good GPS apps for iOS/Android? I know about Blindsquare and Nearby Explorer, but they cost money, and there are a bunch of free ones out there such as the Sendero one, which I am wondering are any good. Any advice?Thats about all for me, hope everyone is doing well.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

While the guide does say that you have to change your region, you actually do not for BK 3. Just set BK3 to output text to the clipboard, install Instant translate and there you go! Changing your region is only necessary for the games made with Text Game Maker and if you want the folder names to be readable, but that isnt necessary. You dont need App Local or however you spell it, either. So you have to backtrack through seasons of buffy to get the full story? That seems kind of annoying, but I may check it out all the same. Yes, Were Alive does have excellent character development, which is why it hooked me from the very beginning.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Im not sure what you mean about Backtrack through buffy to get the full story its just like anything else, if you want the full story you start at the startt. Its got some streight out sort of monster of the weak type episodes, but I can see that that is going to change as things progress sinse the more into the series I get the more there is ongoing plot, which is good sinse while as I said the characters and witty dialogue are fantastic and the plot is definitely picking up I havent yet found any of the details of the supernatural world that have been that surprising, but hay standard concepts with awsome characters ongoing story and witty dialogue is much better than interesting concepts with dull characters, lack luster dialogue and no plot as ive seen on some occasions. Were alive actually really surprised me. I started the first episode and oh yeah, there was the standard us army with the experienced sergeant
type character, his loyal sidekick and the slightly over baring officer character, and theres the usual zombi chaos and oooh look they rescue two girls. When I started the series I was thinking yeah, this is going to be a bit of fun but nothing that will shake my expectations, a few episodes in I was quite amazed to see how wrong my expectations have been, indeed I love the way that characters who so many other writers just do the standard thing with like Michael as the military officer leader or Rily as the tough girl were so different to what Id expect, not to mention the plot not going where I thought itd go. My only issue with the series is I sort of wished the ends to seasons 1 and 2 had been a little more distinct than they were sinse both end with very similar battles in the same place, and I wouldve also liked a bit less time skip over the hole boulder section. The ending was awsome though, although I was a tad disappointed
you just got told! some of the answers to the zombie questions in an epilogue sequence. Still definitely one of the best instances of zombocalypse Ive ever come across and I definitely plan to hear the hole series again.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Kg4, good luck with the job. Unfortunately Ive got always been a bit too scared to balls up my computer to try all this region changing shenanigans with the Japanese games, not to mention installing god knows how many bits of software, I actually wish there was an easier way of doing it or at least a translation.Buffy isnt really in the same league as narnia. Its a tv series about a 16 year old girl at school and her friends who has been born the slayer and has the power to kill vampires by pounding on them repeatedly with martial arts. Episodes involve buffy and her friends dealing with various supernatural threats like vampires and demons, and of course there is an ongoing story. The premise and world actually I havent found that unique yet but Im just loving the series for its amazingly good characterization, very witty dialogue and ongoing story, but then again that is typical of Joss Weaden from what Ive seen. Were alive was a
wsome, indeed though in genre and tone it is very different from Buffy it does share the fact of having very good characterization, I also went through series 1-3 in around two days flat at the end of last year, then have grabbed the last few episodes as they became available. Funny you should mention audio dramas, Im starting the Dorian grey series from Big Finish, its going to be interesting to see how they deal with a different premise from all their Dr. Who related stuff, although theyve had some very interesting Dr. Who spinoffs not involving the doctor, which have ranged from the sixties spy series countermeasures, to eclectic victorian Jago and Lightfoot, to the full on epic space war Dalek Empire, and even the sort of weerd semi adult experimental series Graceless, about two girls with close to infinite power to change reality but who have no idea what theyre doing.Still, Im interested to see what they can do with something outside the wh
oniverse. @Tom, we dont have any of those chains over here, so I cant say anything for certain. In fairness I cant think of the last time I went to Mcdonalds, Kfc or Burger king, oh yeah it was a few years ago when I needed to use their wifi and just bought a mcdonalds coffee .I actually dont go in for fast food that much, not when for example there is a really nice local sandwich place sinse after all why would I go to somewhere like Subway for something from the freezer when I can go to the Picnic baskit and get a freshly made Sandwich and some very good home made cake, --- same for burgers etc, indeed if I fancie burgers I usually tend to buy my own and do them on the George. I have the Angel series as well as Buffy and will be starting season 1 when Ive finished Season 3 of Buffy (sinse that is apparently where it
picks up), then alternating seasons to get the various cross overs, though I do hope Angel has a bit more personality by then as thus far the hole Buffy/angel romance is probably my least favourite part of the plot sinse its so sort of standard. On the other hand, things are getting interesting sinse the last story I watched promised some secrets about Giles which I definitely didnt expect, sinse while we didnt know about his background I wasnt sure there was that much to learn, that is going to be interesting to find out, plus Spike is indeed Awsome! Sort of awsome! Btw, I didnt realize Armin Shimmerman who played Quark in Ds9 was the sarcastic principle in buffy, though its always nice to see actors doing something utterly different to what you expect albeit its taking a little getting used to having him as a child hating, totalitarian dictator rather than everyones favourite dodgy Ferengi barman .ACtually i really admire Quark, when I came to do master of the house from Les Miserables, which you can Find here on sendspace I based my idea on a quotation I saw Shimmerman make about how much he loved Quark sinse Quark was always so enthusiastic about everything and absolutely threw himself into being such a scummy character, which is sort of the same way I think about the inkeeper from les Miserables as well.

@Dark, thanks. I will be starting out on the plant floor since I have no previous work experience, but will be moving to a customer service position once I have been there for a bit. I have never watched any of Buffy but maybe I should. I loved the Narnia books as a kid and still do, particularly the audio dramas, or anything audio dramatized pretty much. I just finished all four seasons of the Were Alive audio drama. It was awesome! I finished it in 3 days. Ive also been playing BK2. Im on stage 13-1. Ive been using a walkthrough that @Boi made some time ago. I dont particularly care about the secret weapons or cheats, but Ive had great fun playing through the game although having to grind so much is annoying. I have Instant translate set up and instructions on how to set BK3 to output to the clipboard, so thats what Ill be playing next. Ive also gotten to the last level, 5, of Death Match, project Alpha but am stuck on one pa
rt of it because I get overwhelmed by enemies and always die. I lost count of how many times Ive tried to beat it. As far as Hardys and other such fast food chains, I like them if its the only choice I have. LOL.This morning, I signed up for the 7-day free trial of SlingTV, but was disappointed to find that the PC application is inaccessible with NVDA, JAWS and Window-Eyes. Most things in the iOS app can be read with VoiceOver, but most buttons, including settings, are unable to be selected. For those that may be interested in Envisions for one reason or another, a wealth of information as well as position openings can be found at www.envisionus.com.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Kg4, Im sorry to here about your other half. What sort of job will you actually be doing for these vision people? @Tom, I dont think we have Hardys here in England, though I assume its a chain of some sort like Mcdonalds or Subway, so I cant say much about their usual stuff I havent had an astounding day but have played through several ffproject books, including finishing alibors tomb. Its really annoying when you have done something once to try and do it again but have trouble, but I got there in the end albeit I dont remember having as much difficulty with that one first time round. This evening I got some very nice Koung po Chicken from my good local chinese and mastered the Buffy menu. Its odd, sandman slim Im now completely sick of for the ultra violence and fairly thin world, but Buffy Im still enjoying for the characters and witty dialogue, particularly as now Ive just me
t Spike and Drusilla who are just as disturbing as I thought they would be. Indeed, I remember having a discussion with a friend of mine a while ago about how annoying it was that so many modern female villains, even such characters as The White Witch in Narnia were all flirty and annoying and soccubus like rather than just having some dam scary and nails female characters (again credit to the 1990s Bbc addaptation of narnia for having such an awsome White Witch who comes across more like what Christopher Lee would if he were female). However, the odd thing is with Drusilla I just like the way shes done. Maybe its that shes as mock helpless as disturbing, maybe its all the poor sick goth girl act (I loved Spikes you have to eat something before presenting her with a fresh human), maybe its just that Joss Weaden is good with dialogue so can even make characters who would usually get up my nose for being so sterriotypical in
teresting. So, Buffy continues to be really rather fun, heck even Angel is getting some personality this series which is good sinse uptonow hes been imho the dullest character.

@Dark, as far as Hardees goes it is a fast food chain. Actually there are multiple chains owned by the same company Carls Junior, Hardees, and Red Wheel and they all basically sell the same type of food. They have cheese burgers, chicken sandwiches, ham sandwiches, chili dogs, and that sort of thing. Basically, like McDonalds but with much better tasting food in my opinion. I personally cant stand McDonalds food, but have always loved Hardees food.As far as Drusilla goes she was a cool character. I almost forgot about her until you mentioned her, but I agree she is an interesting character. You will also discover as time goes on Angels character improves as well. During the first season of Buffy I admit I didnt like him at all, but he does get better as the Buffy series continues. Then, of course, he has his own TV series which picks up where Buffy leaves off, and by that time his character does improve quite a bit from
the way it was in the first season of Buffy. So just keep watching.

I know I am beginning to which has made all the difference. As for myself today I took my son to see the new Movie Home and then we stopped off at Hardees for some sandwiches and fries. As always the food was good, and I actually got myself a bag lunch to take home for dinner since they had a really good special running today.I think the best part of my day was the weather has finally broken here in northern Ohio. It was up in the 50s,sunny, and somewhat warm compared to all the icy wind, snow, and cold weather we have been having up until about a week ago. We were able to get out and enjoy the weather, to get some sun and fresh air, which did me a lot of good. That together with just feeling better from a medical standpoint has made this a better day than I have had in a long time.Tomorrow Ill be going over to see my folks for the Eas
ter holiday. I think theyll be having a dinner such as turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, candid yams, and probably a pie or two for dessert. So that will be good. For me the best part of the holidays is getting together with family and eating all that awesome food.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Well, I just saw this and read all the posts. As for me, My life has been a series of ups and downs since I lost my partner, Randy, in July of last year. Without getting too much into it, he had an infection that he let go for too long and it damaged his liver. For various reasons, chief of which being that he had low blood platelets, he was not eligible for a liver transplant. Since then, I have been dealing with intense grief. This isnt the first time I have lost someone close to me, but he was definitely the closest person to me. Since the cycling from extremely happy to horribly depressed every fifteen to twenty minutes has finally subsided, helped in large part by a month long visit to see a friend of mine in North Carolina, I started to try to find something to do. I have tried college a couple of times and decided that for the time being at least, it is not for me. I admire and am even a bit envious of those that have graduated, but maybe Ill get there one day.
I did all the necessary leg work back in November to get into the vending program here and in the very beginning of January, I found out that they had no openings for an evaluation to see if I am even a good fit for the program. I heard nothing from my vocational rehabilitation councilor through most of January and all of February and March. Frustrated at this stalled process, I contacted the recruiting manager at Envisions, a company that provides employment opportunities for the blind as well as anyone with another disability or no disability at all. After going through an entire process which included a phone interview, I was accepted and leave on the 27th of this month for a two week work trial. If I do well, I will be given a job offer during the second week and will be moving to Wichita, Kansas where their main headquarters is either at the end of May or beginning of June. I will be paid for the work that I do while there for the two weeks. They also pay for your round-trip fl
ight as well as an extended-stay hotel. Once your time to move comes, they have a moving company that moves all your belongings and they pay for another plane ticket to get you to Wichita. I have my eye on a couple of apartment complexes there that are close to Envisions, as in walking-distance, which I am glad of because I do love to walk as long as it doesnt involve crossing any major highways. I am excited to have my own place again and to be joining the work force, finally! I also received a letter on April 1st, which happened to be my 26th birthday (no, not an April fools joke,) stating that I needed to be at some place or other to do more paperwork to get scheduled for an evaluation for the vending program. Thats nice and everything, but the Wichita thing has already been paid for and I did a lot of work to get this far, so too bad for the folks here. My VR councilor doesnt know yet, well, she will when she gets a chance to check her voicemail. So, that
s what Im up to...Oh, one more thing, this coming Friday I will be headed to Florida to visit my friends that I lived there with for two years. Im looking forward to that! Good things for me ahead, I hope...

@mirage, judo is easier sinse everything is contact anyway so everyone needs some hands on demonstration, indeed my brother did quite a bit when he was a lot younger and I went to a couple of classes although not many. I wouldnt try judo these days sinse I dont really have the balance for it or indeed the inclination to try throwing and pinning but its certainly one of the easier martial arts to learn and doesnt require extensive spacial coordination or some sort of adaptation the way most of the none contact martial arts like Karate do. I actually do need to try something else myself, its just with my abortive attempt to learn ballroom dancing last year (which was okay as far as the dancing worked but didnt work at all socially sinse people just sort of humoured me and always treated me at arms length), Im not exactly inclined to go through all the crap and being ignored that goes with joining a new group of people for some s
ort of activity even though I probably should.@Tom, glad things are improving and your looking back to getting back into developing games, as someone whos just come off a three week long bout of the flue I can sympathize with medical issues. Yesterday I saw a friend of mine for coffee and some amazing caramell pavlova which was great, and also started season 2 of buffy, something I really should have done earlier given that I finished season 1 about two months ago, but with me not being in the same location as my dvd collection and large sized tv its not been as easy. The first episode was a nice start and I like how its dealing with the fallout of Buffys confrontation with the master, indeed Cordelia quite surprised me which is always what I like from aa character character, someone you cant just pigion hole or sterriotype into a generic hole but who actually surprises you. The only annoying thing is the highlighting on the season 2
dvd menus is a right pain in the arse to see, meaning Ill physically need to sit there and push about 16 different options and sit with a script to see which episode each option is, God its annoying! why cant there be a sodding play all button or all the episodes just play one after the other like on the avatar dvds? Ill work it out, its just a pain in the rear.In other news Im actually getting a tad sick of Sandman slim. I have started the fourth book and I feel I should finish it but Im just rather tired of all the matcho posturing and thin concepts about hell and heaven. It was okay to read while I was fairly insensative but now Im feeling better I want something with more to it, which actually gives me some ideas for a project Ive been thinking of for a while, an essay for fantasybookreview.co.uk on the differences between art and entertainment in literature. They liked my peace on Escapism, which you can Read here and sinse I do find sort of writing popular philosophy interesting and am vaguely considering doing it for some sort of career (or at least a vocation), its good practice, I just need to actually think of the structure of an article and what Im actually saying. No major plans for today, though I will probably get back to gaming in one form or other, indeed I have my campaign to finish on aardwolf as well as wanting to try Clok out, and also once Ive finished the fourth Sandman Slim (which Ive got two hours to go of), I want to start the Big Finish Confessions of Dorian Grey series, which ive heard lots of good things about and been collecting but havent got around to starting as yet.

As for myself April is going well. I was out of town a couple of days ago doing a bit of shopping with my family when I found the entire series of Lois and Clark on sale which I purchased. So for a lot of this month I have a feeling Ill be spending plenty of free time revisiting the Adventures of Lois and Clark as I have not seen that particular Superman series in several years. In addition to that the weather is finally warming up here in Ohio. The weather is generally now up in the mid 50s which is much better than the freezing snow and ice we were having only a couple of weeks ago. According to the weather reports it suppose to cool down this weekend and actually snow for Easter, but we will see. For the moment Im glad it isnt freezing cold.Im also hoping to get back into game development too. For the last few months Ive been having my share of medical issues, and for one reason and another I have not done as much game developmen
t as Id like. So Im hoping this month I will be able to do more than I have the last couple of years and actually update the USA Games site as well as perhaps release a demo or two of upcoming projects.Thats pretty much my plans as I know them so far. Other than that Ill likely play it by ear and do more as I have the time and get a better idea of my personal schedule this month.

As I said unfortunately all the Tai chi Ive seen hasnt had individual classes, just the teacher at the front of the class emonstrating, and I personally really feel uncomfortable trying something just with verbal descriptions that everyone else are doing in a group, sinse where other people can see and correct each other, I dont know if Im sticking out like a sore thumbmb. Ill probably just stick to my usual exercise and running routine, or at least I will when I can be sure Im over this blasted flue, (Im still coughing today, which isnt good). Well I saw a most interesting play today the tale of the dog in the night which is doing the national rounds. My mum likes music and concerts and my dad likes plays, so where I personally enjoy both I get a selection while I
m wth my parents. That was interesting, about a boy with autism, thouh I felt the plot got a bit soap opera in places with his parents telling various lyes, still the stuff that tried to represent the world the way he saw it was quite fascinating with some great audio and lighting effects (though i wish Id been sitting closer to the front to get the lighting effects). Sort of reminded me strongly of the doctor who story the tale of the gnomes from the breaking bubbles and other stories collection last year with colin baker, indeed there were striking similarities with the main character being an autistic boy around 15, though of course the play I saw today didnt have old sixie or psychic alien gnomes, but it wasnt bad despite that :d.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Fingers crossed, things are looking up for me as this month begins.I have epilepsy, and also non 24 disorder, and those two things collide sometimes and cause me problems. But Im sleeping better, and feeling better, and I hope that means good things for the month ahead.Right now, my main excitement centers around the premier of Outlander, the second half of season 1. Its Saturday night on Starz, and Ive been waiting over six months for it. Im a fan of the book series, by Diana Gabaldon, and I love how true to the books the TV series is trying to be.Thats about all for me at the moment, but Im just extremely glad to be feeling better for a change.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

Hello,For me I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming Mortal Kombat game in two weeks.I had a show recently which went very well, a couple of weeks back. It was where I sung Music of The Night and it went down a treat, I got a mention in the loca newspaper.Im still doing martial arts, it was quite hard the other day as I took part in a group lesson on Saturday then a one-to-one lesson on Monday and my legs are still aching, nevertheless, I still enjoy it regardless.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

April is starting off bright and warm here with the birds singing outside, and thats no April fools joke.My tutoring is picking up, and I have a couple of freelance students. Its a bit weird to be speaking adult to adult to a high schoolers mom. im 24, but I dont feel adult enough to be having conversations about your child with you... Im supposed to start meeting with a guy from Brazil next week who speaks English well, but wants to be better. That said, if anybody is looking for an English tutor, from speaking, to essays, to ACT/SAT prep, hit me up. Im working through a tutor marketplace called WyzAnt.In the gaming world, Im starting up a new character on a mud soon. Its a crossover character from another game. Generally, I hate that idea. It breaks immersion in the world to see a name you recognize from another
game, but the concept possibility is just too awesome to ignore on this system, and Im excited to play out this character in a totally different setting.Im off work today; no students. I think Ill straighten up the house a little.Ill also be making Easter dinner for my boyfriend and our guitarist this Sunday. All our family is hours, if not states away. I wanted to actually mark Easter this year. I didnt do anything at all last Easter, and it really made me sad. Far more than religion, Easter, for me, is about sharing a meal with family: being with family.Winter is mostly gone, and were headed into warm sunshine. I hope everybodys spring is starting off well.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

I rarely get myself to post in these Monthly chat threads, but Dark Im really enjoying them. They have a very different feel from the rest of the forum, and I find myself enjoying the posts people make. For lack of a better description, I find them peaceful and relaxing, even when the posts themselves arent necessarily meant to be either peaceful or relaxing.Ive been busy for a while now, or it seems that way at least. Its been a mix of work and family stuff that has been keeping me away from the community and causing time to speed by pretty fast. At work we had our head manager replaced by a new guy, then a month later the new guy was replaced by yet another one. Each new top guy brings a whole new set of rules and changes around the work place as they try to increase efficiency and whip the employees into shape, so its been extremely stressful. On the family front, my wif
es grandpa first had a heart attack, then later a stroke, and later passed away. We werent extremely close to him (always sounds bad to say that sort of thing I suppose), but something like that still puts many other things on hold. I think a big part of the situation becomes about comforting the family who are having a hard time with it.So doom and gloom from Mr. Aprone. Hopefully the next persons post will be all good news to get us back on the brighter path this thread was on before me. Haha!

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

I took Tai Chi a few years back. The instructor described many of the postures, and the occasional more direct correction/explanation didnt seem too out of place, as it was a beginner class and plenty of sighted people needed correcting (sometimes verbal, sometimes otherwise). There was some schedule weirdness and I didnt get into the intermediate class until a bit after it started, and I was quite lost.

Re: Monthly Chat april 2015

@Aaron that is cool. What sort of martial arts do you do? And how do you learn in the class if the instructor stands at the front and demonstrates? Ive always fancied learning Tai chi, for the exercise and philosophy, but all the classes Ive seen the instructor just stands at the front, demonstrates and says do this I suppose I could be an absolute pest and request one on one demonstrations but that would get pretty old fairly fast. Also congrats on music of the night, its one of my favourite songs. Well it seems that as well as my appointment with influenza most people are having a pretty gloomy time, I hope 2015 isnt going to be as disasterific as 2014 was. @Cinnamon never new you were also a teacher, but that is part of the fun point of these monthly threads, just to casually learn about what people are up to, which is why Aprone I started the custom, sinse on my friends forum it always worked well. Well one
good thing did happen today, for the first time in over a fortnight I actually played a game, indeed for about the last five hours Ive played the Aardwolf mud, which is surprisingly fun to say from hat I gathered of the wiki its very combat heavy. I also know what cinnamon means about characters with different names, sinse even though Im not an rp nut I was feeling very uncreative today and called my Aardwolf character Thelok just like my guy on Alter, which is very odd considdering hes a lizardman paladin, yes, they have some fun races, and I didnt fancy playing a dwarf. Anyhow Ill talk about that more in general discussion, but its actually nice to play a game and get very enthrawled, sinse Ive found myself suffering something of game burnout of late.
