Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCE Script: Transfer Call to IP Phone UCCE Script

Dear Group Members,

I would to ask about this feature ..After a time check (if the time after mid
night) I have a UCCE system and I need to create a script that allow the call
to be transferred to an IP Phone (Not Agent) just a number or PSTN number , the
most important is This is not agent.

As you may all know this is easy from the UCCX , but is that doable from UCCE ?

Thanks

Hi Kenneth,

I have used VMWare Workstation ver 8 ( I am not very sure what version I am
running for the last 1 year) but VMWare Workstation works fine, no issues at
all. However, there is one catch, and that is, one is at the mercy of the Host
OS's resource allocations (CPUs, Memory etc) and that tends to slow down the
installation in most of the times (I have an old Dual Xeon, 16 GB Mem with 500G
+ 1 TB HDD on which I run these beasts) the Host OS is Win XP 64 Bit and it
works, though I can run almost 5 VMs in parallel, it becomes slow, thanks to
the XP

BUT, just last sunday I saw my colleague running OS X on his Mac Pro Notebook,
with 4 VMs (with UC 7.0 Servers) and Call of Duty and 2 Windows Server 2003 VMs
without ANY hint of slowing down the system or turning it into an oven.

That experience makes me believe that, its much better to go for a Mac Pro (16
GB ver or whatever the max is allowed) and play whatever you like on it, with
the help of VMWare Fusion (thats what he is running).

I am pretty sure, this setup is worth it, if it works easy, because just 2 run
any machine with 2 CPUs (with Cooling and HDD incl) can make a good size hole
whenever the electricity bill comes due :-|

Let us know which road you are taking, I am almost certain to go with the Mac
Pro route.

If you're serious about studying, I would avoid the desktop version and go with
ESXi and a good, reliable machine. You'll be fighting fatigue, the labs and
learning new stuff, so adding troubleshooting a VMware Desktop issue will only
frustrate you unnecessarily.
I have 7961's and they were fine. I would recommend getting two 9900 series
phones if you can so you can simulate video. Trust me, having the phones,
gateways and switch will help a ton. Also, just find a 3750 switch and forget
the router switch-modules. It's much easier and you'll still learn the needed
commands. Just make sure you pay attention to the commands for those
switch-modules (for VLAN setup, etc.) when studying.

Anyone else, please feel free to comment.

Here is a quote from cisco site:
You must make an initial attempt of the CCIE lab exam within 18-months of
passing the CCIE written exam. If you do not pass the lab exam within three
years of passing the written exam, you must retake the written exam before
being allowed to attempt the lab exam again.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Full Lab, More than one question

Hi All,

Today I tried to make a full lab , it was my 1st try to do all tasks in 8 hours
session!

the following questions appeared :

1-Do i need to enable the auto registration on both CUCM servers, including the
starting/End DN information ?
No its ok with only one cucm server

2- When you use the auto registration method to register your phone, what
exactly define which device pool the new registered phone will belong to
The default device pool. Then edit to the correct. Note that sometimes you get
an error with the auto registration so you have to disable all the security
services at both cucms and ADD the phones manually

3- What can be checked if SiteB Routed was not synchronized wirt HQ-Router, my
router stay un-synchronize
Which interface in HQ router is the ntp master? If is the loopback then try to
add ip ospf network point-to-point into the HQ Loopback interface

4- When it comes to any update of the Ringlists, do I need to restart TFTP
service in both servers, and does it mandatory to upload the Files to both TFTP?
Yes for both questions
And Finally, I really shocked how much time the full lab needs, I did not
finish 50 % of the lab in the 8 hours, I really need your advise regarding the
time challenge !!
The best choice is the device base approach. Search into YouTube to understand
the process

I am wondering if one site needs both xcoder and MTP then what is the best

Its best to create one MRG and add there both xcoder and MTP or its better to
create one MRG for xcoder , one MRG for MTP and then assign both MRG into MRGL

What is the choice

I would check these:

Phone is getting the correct vlan
CDP is running
CDP advertisement
Vlan is created
Vlan is assigned
If a switch is being used check the trunk is allowing the vlan, and the native
vlan is correct
Voice interface is up and you can ping from the local router

Being that everything is local to the site that's the best I can give off the

  ip dhcp pool S1

  ip dhcp database flash:database.txt

Open a new text file and change the addresses of the phones to match what you

Remove the ip dhcp database command and stop the dhcp service
Upload the text file to CUCM and copy down to routers flash, then amend the
dhcp pool to
  ip dhcp pool S1

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUE in CME SRST : Weird or expected behavior

Experts!

I configured CUE to work with UCM. I have configured a phone button of a phone
with DN, say 6001, using CUE as its VM to transfer an active call to the
voicemail. When there is a voicemail due to this action, I see/hear that the
voicemail is from, let's say, 911.

So, 911 calls 6001, 6001 pick up the call, and transfers using the button
Trasfer - Xfer button - Transfer. 911 leaves a message. When the message is
played, it says message from 911.

Now, when in SRST mode, the same caller, 911, makes the same call and
transferred using the same sequence, leaves a message.

In this case, the message is said to be from the 6001 DN itself. Relevant
configuration included. 6100 is my Voicemail pilot.

voice translation-rule 6001
 rule 1 /^\*/ //

voice translation-profile Xfer-to-VM
 translate redirect-called 6001

dial-peer voice 6100 voip
 translation-profile out Xfer-to-VM
 destination-pattern 6100
 session protocol sipv2
 session target ipv4:CUE Module IP
 dtmf-relay sip-notify
 codec g711ulaw
 no vad

ephone-dn 5
 number *6001
 call-forward all 6100

Connection is allowed between sip and h323 variances. SIP UA Mwi server is
configured for unsolicited notification.

The call is forwarded to VM but instead of telling the original calling party,
it says call from 4001!

IS THIS AN EXPECTED BEHAVIOR! OR I am missing something?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Unity Connection user template time format

2013-02-28 Thread Chrysostomos Christofi
Guys

Take it logically

If HQ site has different time zone with Site B then for sure the users in CUC
must have the correct time zone for each branch

1) User template in CUC (modify there anything you want include time
zone),Import HQ users

2) Then modify again the user template to the correct time zone for users
in site B and then import the users for site B

I had struggled with whether to match each subscriber with their correct time
zone. My GUESS is that it only matters if a Unity Connection question involves
any type of time stamp such as when the message was delivered. It probably
cannot hurt to do it as a best practice as I seriously doubt it can hurt your
scoring but you never know so you have to decide what is best.

Leslie/Steve/Jason,

What are your thoughts on pre-configuring ephone-dns when you are permitted to
use CME-SRST with autoprovision dn or all? Instead of dorking around with
templates (which I hear is flaky) I was thinking about tweaking my approach to
pre-configure ephone-dns when I build out SRST. I have done some basic tests
and read the docs. It is supported and appears to work.

The benefits:

I don't have to wait for phones to failover to finish SRST related configs. I
can configure BACD, call coverage for VM, mwi sip, name, description, etc.

Thoughts?

Well i confirmed today that if using a CUCM-CUE integration at a branch site,
th you will want to setup your MWI to be subscribe/notify when you complete
your CUE integratoin with CUCM. MWI works great when registered to CUCM and
using CUE for VM. When the site fails over in to srst mode and your phone has
an existing MWI on it, this is what you would want to do in order to preserve
that MWI lamp.

1) When integrating your CUE to CUCM choose MWI type subscribe/notify.
2) When building your router config for SRST, make sure to build an
ephone-dn-template that specifies MWI SIP that will get applied to the phones
when they register (under your telephony service).

3) when configuring sip-ua / mwi-server i did not use unsolicited key word

this has allowed the current MWI lamp to stay lit when failover to unified CME
as SRST. When integrating using unsolicited notificiatoins I was not
maintaining the MWI lamp on during failover.

i am using 7975 model phones and i bounced the failover a few times and it
seemed to work pretty consistently. please try at home and let us know if you
have the same results with this if you are interested.

You can use whatever document you wish to use, you just need to ensure that the

example but if I go to holidayLebanon.aef script and change the dates.xml to
something different then I receive an error.

its not possible to use a different name than dates.xml?

the only change that I have done to the default holidaycheck.aef it was in
variable Name: datelist , Type: Document , then in value I changed from
DOC[dates.xml] to DOC[Lebanon.xml] ..This is not allowed? Because if I leave
the dates.xml its working fine. When I change to something else then I receive
an error

also I have uploaded Lebanon.xml document into document /en_us/

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Holiday Check

2013-01-25 Thread Chrysostomos Christofi
Hi Nathan

Attached is the script

Actually when I change the dates.xml in the HolidayLebanon.aef script to
something else let's say dates1.xml (already I have uploaded this xml in the
dogument/en_us))
then I receive an error. If I leave it to the default dates.xml then its ok

Also I tried the reactive script for debug(I created a trigger pointed to
holidayLebanon.aef script) but nothing pop up
Pls let me know if you need anything else

Thank you

Regards
Chrysostomos

You can use whatever document you wish to use, you just need to ensure that the
format is correct and that the script you are using to pull the XML data is
configured correctly. Have you by chance completed an debug on the script and
identified where it is failing? You can always configure a new application
with a trigger to call the holiday script, enable debugging, and the call the
trigger number.

As well, if you want to email me the scripts XML files, I would be glad to
take a look at it for your.

Billy's example was for RTP.
In San Jose it is 3 hours before lunch and five after.

The drinking duration depends on how long it takes to drown your sorrows.
Results usually are emails the next day.

Not sure how it works at all testing centers but at RTP (US) it goes like this:

15 min orientation
4 hours lab time
20 min lunch
4 hours lab time

2-4 hours drinking --- this is optional

So, you get 8 hours for the lab and lunch is an additional 20 min.

That is a hard question to answer definitively. It is a juggling act between
reading comprehension, choosing your approach based on requirements, accurate
application of configs, and speed of application. You have 8 hours to complete
the lab and you will have a 20 min lunch thrown in the middle somewhere. The
time you start, have lunch, and finish will depend on the testing facility.

Personally, my goal is to get through the configs with 2 hours remaining for:

- Tackling any questions I didn't know off the top of my head
- Doing an end-to-end validation of the lab to catch any oversights / screw ups

In reality, the goal of having 2 hours left over for testing/validation is a
real challenge. All I can say is that everyone I have heard from who passed the
test were able to knock out the core configurations in 5 - 6 hours and had 1.5
- 2 hours dedicated to checking their work. That isn't to say there aren't
people who pass without this validation process. Just that I don't know of any.

Licenses are on uccx and there should be FileZilla on there set up to serve the
file.

Usually you just have to do

software install clean URL FTP://10.10.210.5/file name username Cisco
password Cisco

(no caps)

Then offline and restore factory default

Check it when it comes up and you are ready to go

Factory reset will clean the configuration only. It can't change the license
that is already uploaded to the CUE.
Regarding software installation clean url I need the license file after the
URL and that's where I was stuck.
I will once again go for the lab. At that time I will hope to get the right
license or at least right snapshot of CUCX VM.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] This Senario Can work?

2013-01-09 Thread Chrysostomos Christofi
Hi

I am wondering if the below scenario can work

one router for 2 phones (I don't have wan connectivity , one router and one
switch)
Phone A is in the A device pool
Phone B is in the B device pool

calls from A phone to B phone using g729 (region set up with that)

Now for B phones we have a cue in the router integrated with cucm

also in this router is configured a transcoding registered with cucm and the
MRGL is applied to the device pool for site B (Site B has cue for site B user)

Now my question with the above scenario can be involved the transcoding?

CUE cti route point and cti ports are in the B device pool

So when A phone dial cue its dial with g729 codec. We need the transcoding to
be involved
can be ?Because its not working at that moment :)

below is the codec that I am using for transcoding. I am missing something?

dspfarm profile 1 transcode
 codec g711alaw
codec g711ulaw
codec g729ar8
codec g729abr8
codec g729br8
 maximum sessions 2
associate application SCCP

I have had a phone stuck before at proctor labs and it would not
take anything I did to resolve it. That is because some of the
phones are not actually attached to the rack device but layer two
tunneled to the rack. That means they do not recycle when you
 bounce them.

Try this change your ip range and see if the phone gets a new ip,
if so then it is something ou are missing.

If not try pinging the phone, does it reply?

If so then you might recover it if not then open a ticket and see
if you can get another pod or use a softphone for now. You can
also hardware VPN into proctor labs and I find that to be the best
solution for them to give me more of a true lab experience.

I’ve been battling a somewhat similar problem in my own lab (I
have all the hardware on my rack with full access) and the
problem was that somehow one of the phones was not taking the
default gateway set in PUB’s DHCP. I configured a pool locally on
the router and it worked then. Next day (and next lab) it worked
fine again with CUCM. However now it is still not working. Always
make sure you have the default router configured correctly on the
phone, that is the first thing. The rest should be a cake.

Yeah I have checked fa0/0.10 and it is ok !

I cannot access to the IP phone since it is PL facilities :) DHCP
scope has been created/deleted/checked etc etc
I had no problem with BR1 or BR2 ... only with the 7962 in HQ ..
 Weird !

I have the same rack tomorrow for the same lab (VOL2 LAB1) that I
need to finish so I will try again :)

Many thanks for the help guys :)

On your HQ router, can you check Fa0/0.10? Make sure you have
 the following config:

I don't think it is DHCP snooping or you would not receive an
IP address. However, you could (and should) Erase the config
on the IP phone to ensure it isn't just using an old DHCP
 config.

 __ __

I would also check the DHCP scope. Check the server level
(where you are likely specifying global Option 150 params)
and check the scope itself. Make sure you haven't fat
fingered a subnet mask, subnet, begin/end address, or default
gateway. When I have had a problem where the phone was
getting an address but was not progressing through TFTP and
registration it was usually related to a misconfiguration of
 the DHCP scope in CUCM.

If you have to change the DHCP scope params then remember to
restart the DHCP monitor service. It is a finicky beast.

Which URL are you using for the phone service. Sounds like you are using:
http://uccxHost:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentInitial.jsphttp://%3cuccxHost%3e:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentInitial.jsp

http://uccxHost:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentLogin.jsphttp://%3cuccxHost%3e:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentLogin.jsp
The first URL will provide an input menu to the IP phone in a manner identical
to what you describe. The latter URL, when provisioned with the correct
parameters, will get you the one button login experience you are looking for.

So when you assign the service to the phone add those fields for each user,
also when you create the service you can set defaults so one user works right

CLI is much faster. Using the CLI is faster, at least for the CUE-CME
integration. I haven't attempted it for CUE-CUCM.

But that isn't your question. The generic answer is they could require you to
use the CLI. My opinion is that would be quite lame if they did. There are
plenty of ways to screw with you and restricting you from using the GUI on CUE
seems petty. Just my opinion. That said, I am practicing both and will use the
one that is fastest and the one I am most comfortable with under a time

If you mean the service you can use the following SQL command on the CUCM CLI:

run sql insert into telecasterservice
(pkid,Name,NameASCII,Description,URLTemplate,tkPhoneService,EnterpriseSubscription,Priority)

values('ca69f2e4-d088-47f8-acb2-ceea6722272e','Voicemail','Voicemail','Voicemail','Application:Cisco/Voicemail',2,'t',1)

This is documented at Products - Voice - IP Telephony - Platform - CUCM -

Which URL are you using for the phone service. Sounds like you are using:

http://uccxHost:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentInitial.jsphttp://%3cuccxHost%3e:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentInitial.jsp

Oops, you know what. I forgot substring doesn't include the last character.
You'll need Callerinfo.substring(0,3).

charAt will only return a single character, which you are testing against a
string of characters. For your particular case then you would use subString as
such

Callerinfo.subString(0,2) == 996.

subString(0 = where to start, 2 = where to end) will return the bytes between
and including the start, and end in this case that is 3 bytes as CallerInfo[0]
+ CallerInfo[1] + CallerInfo[2]

5.* would imply RegEx type of expressions, which may be possible but you need
to explicitly define that. You're better off doing something like
myString.charAt(0) == 5 as it should meet your needs quite easily.

If you are not using a premium license or are otherwise unable to use the java
methods you could also use a Menu Step, have two branches, one for 5 and one
for everything else and throw a get digit string step under the 5 branch to
collect the rest.

Ramcharan , hi

Both route patterns for the below are correct
It depends what the question ask , or what is your requirement

1) With # in the h323 you don't have to use Predot trailing # you can
use only Predot but for MGCP GW its need it. But its not any harm if you use
Predot trailing # for h323 also

Hi Guys,

I am stuck with a problem . Hope you can throw some light.

I use VMware to run my callmanger servers and I take snapshots and return to
the default each time I redo my lab excerises.

This time when I returned to the intial setup of callmangers I found that the
the unified reporting on subscriber says that it can't reach the pub.

On the Publisher unified reporting I see the PUB and SUB as 2 which is good .
Also on RTMT the servers show replication of 2 for both servers which again
means it is good.

However I am concerned as the subscriber unified reporting shows The pub can't
be reach as the publisher itself is not listed in the report?

Any utils commands to see if DB is setup fine or if any ports are blocked?

hi Guys,

Thanks for your responses.

I was able to use the queuing script as was suggested below and just removed
the prompts. It seems to be working . However I have a few questions...

1) I am using Resource group based routing and have set the Resource selection
creteria to Longest Available . Is this correct?

2) In case of single button login is a button template of the phone ( agent)
having Service URL also required ?

Thanks once again for your quick replies.

Trigger 24044000 called from PSTN or from internally to 4000, it should be

time.
Configure ip phone service for one button login for these agents
Write another script which will transfer calls to available agent based on
longest idle time. Phone 2 user has requested some time after ending a
call. During this time, Phone 2 user should be marked NOT READY.
User has to change status to READY manually before call can be directed

Can someone help me with how to proceed? I know very little on scripting.

Observation:

-One button login works but I see 0 calls in the queue when ICD is called
-all UCCX services are up
-I have rebooted the machine still no good
-Have tried with both skill based and Resource Group routing and get same result

What else do I do?

You can take the default icd and then

Create a menu in the begin with the desire prompt then add a redirect number
and that’s all
If they don’t press anything in the menu prompt then they will go to the queue

Also make sure the Device Prefix Name under Telephony Integrations Port Group
Port Group Basics matches with the CUCM VM ports Device Name. For example if
you have the device name in CUCM as CnxUM-VI then the CUC will need to have the
