So tthedefinition is to follow the stove top instructions
You can find that on google or by scanning the box, asking your phone ortrying
a directions.com on the internet
Not sure what that link is or if it still works
I cn try to google it fot you if you like?

taste the same.  I know potatos are actually pretty good in the air
fryer chicken is good too.  some  stuff i haven't tried.

Re: [CnD] air frier or deep frier

2017-11-28 Thread Nafisah Patel via Cookinginthedark
Hello,
I would purchase an air fryer, specifically Cook's Essentials 3 qt. digital one
with presets and pan, available from QVC. I am not a fan of deep-frying in hot
oil, and using a lot of oil to begin with. Air fryers allow you to use very
little oil, no more than 2 tablespoons, and I am very satisfied with the
results. It does frozen fries really well, and I have made potato wedges in it
from potatoes I cut and seasoned myself. I have also cooked salmon in there,
but left it in too long so it dried a little. Cooking fresh meat may be a
little tricky because it can dry quickly. With practice, however, it should get
easier. I hope this helps,
Nafisah.

[CnD] TOFFEE BITES

2017-11-28 Thread Sugar Lopez via Cookinginthedark
TOFFEE BITES

Yield: 24+ Toffee Bites

Homemade almond toffee bites made in a mini muffin pan, which is genius!
This is the best homemade candy! Great for the holidays and gift giving

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups milk/semi-sweet chocolate chips, equal to 12 oz bag

1/3 cup finely chopped almonds

additional whole almonds or chopped almonds to top the toffee,

optional

Line 2 mini muffin pans with mini muffin liners.

In a heavy 2-quart saucepan combine the butter, sugar, salt, vanilla, and
Heat over medium to high heat, stirring constantly till the butter is
melted. Continue cooking and stirring for approximately 7 to 10 minutes till
candy is the color of the brown skin of the almonds. It's okay if its starts
bubbling or slightly smoking, keep stirring till it's the color of the
almond.

Add in the 1/3 cup of finely chopped almonds, stirring to incorporate.

Working quickly, use a cookie scoop to place the toffee mixture into the
mini muffin liners.

Add a handful of chocolate chips on top of each toffee. Wait 1-2 minutes and
spread the melted chocolate until it is smooth over the toffee.

Top the toffee with a whole almond, chopped almonds or leave them plain.

Let the toffee cool in the fridge until hard. Serve and enjoy. I recommend
storing the toffee in the fridge so the chocolate stays cold.

simmering water, stirring frequently and scraping down the sides with a
rubber spatula to avoid scorching, just until melted. Pour the melted
chocolate over peppermint candy in the prepared pan. Sprinkle another 1/3 of
the candy on top of the milk chocolate. Refrigerate until the chocolate
hardens, about 30 minutes.

Melt the white chocolate in the top of a double boiler over just-barely
simmering water, stirring frequently and scraping down the sides with a
rubber spatula to avoid scorching. Stir in the oil-based peppermint
flavoring. Pour the white chocolate over the milk chocolate, then spread the
remaining 1/3 peppermint candy on top.

Refrigerate until the white chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes. Cut or
break into pieces to serve.

[CnD] STUFFED APPLE AND BACON SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE

2017-11-28 Thread Sugar Lopez via Cookinginthedark
STUFFED APPLE AND BACON SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE

Yield: Serves 6-8

4-6 medium sweet potatoes (for about 6 cups of mashed sweet potatoes)

8 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped

2 medium leeks, washed well, trimmed of tough edges and sliced thinly (about
1/2 - 1 cup)

1 large honey crisp apple, cored, peeled and chopped (about 1 cup)

1 tsp brown sugar

1 Tbsp chopped fresh sage

1/2 Tbsp chopped fresh rosemary

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Monterey Jack or Fontina cheese

Preheat the oven to 400F. Wash and dry the sweet potatoes. Prick each potato
four or five times and place on a foil-lined baking sheet (to catch any
syrupy drips in the oven). Bake for an hour or so until tender. Let the
potatoes cool until they can be handled easily without burning your little
fingers.

In a skillet, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove the bacon pieces to a
paper-towel lined plate, leaving a tsp or so of drippings in the skillet and
removing any excess grease.

Over medium heat, add the leeks, apples, brown sugar, sage and rosemary to
the skillet. Lightly season with salt and pepper.

Cook, stirring often, until the leeks and apples have softened and
caramelized slightly, 7-10 minutes.

Cut the sweet potatoes in half and scoop out the flesh into a large bowl
(you'll want about 6 cups or so). Add the 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper and
mash the sweet potato filling with a fork or potato masher until it's as
smooth as you like it. Add about 3/4 of the cheese, bacon and leek/apple
mixture, reserving a bit of everything to sprinkle on top. Stir lightly to
combine. Add additional salt and pepper to taste, if needed.

Lightly grease a 3-quart (or so) baking dish and spread the sweet potato
mixture evenly in the pan.

Sprinkle the rest of the bacon, leek mixture and cheese over the top. Bake
for 15-20 minutes until hot. Serve immediately.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall
mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; and They
shall

walk, and not faint." [Isaiah 40:31)

2017-11-28 Thread Marilyn Pennington via Cookinginthedark
Classic Pecan Pie off the bottle of Karo syrup

, I make this one

perfect and easy every time, you can use either dark or light

Karo syrup

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 55 to 60 minutes

Yield: 1 pie

3 eggs

1 cup sugar

1 cup Karo® Light OR Dark Corn Syrup

2 tablespoons butter OR margarine, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) pecans

1 (9-inch) unbaked or frozen** deep-dish pie crust

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Beat eggs slightly with fork in medium bowl. Add sugar, Karo®

Corn Syrup, butter and vanilla; stir until blended. Stir in

pecans. Place pie dough in pie pan. Pour pecan filling into pie

crust.

Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between

center and edge comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.

**To use prepared frozen pie crust: Place cookie sheet in oven

and preheat oven as directed. Pour filling into frozen crust and

bake on preheated cookie sheet.

TIPS: Pie is done when center reaches 200°F. Tap center surface

of pie lightly - it should spring back when done. For easy clean

up, spray pie pan with cooking spray before placing pie crust in

pan. If pie crust is overbrowning, cover edges with foil.
