Bug#368530: joe: Mail would be better word-wrapped at 70 columns.
On Mon, May 22, 2006 at 10:27:04PM +0200, Adam Borowski wrote: Package: joe Version: 3.3-5 Severity: wishlist Could you please set the default -rmargin for mail (*tmp/mutt-*) to 70 columns, as prescribed by the Netiquette? With the current default of 77, lines quoted multiple times by users of lesser editors/mailers without proper reformatting capabilities tend to wrap around nastily pretty fast. That's a slippery slope. What about the threads where there are more than five quotes (5 * is 80-10 = 70 characters)? Besides, the line wrapping settings (margins and wordwrap) don't affect text that is already entered. Since you can't automagically reduce the line width of the quoted mails, you could only reduce the width of your lines and make your own ^KJ function more efficient, but you still have to do that each time you get a new mail with broken quotes. -- 2. Bug#328098: [FontTools] need help with fonttools traceback

The bug came with a patch[2], so I applied the patch. Later down the track other people had the same problem with the patch applied. I ran a script[3] to check every timezone I have on my system. Without the patch I get tracebacks with the timezones mentioned in the bad-no-patch.txt attachment. With the patch, I get tracebacks with the timezones mentioned in the bad-patch.txt attachment. I also attached the output of running ttx with and without the patch. You can also see the values (time.gmtime(safe_epoch)[:6] first and safe_epoch_t[:6] second) just before the assertion errors. As to the fix for this, I don't know enough about fonts or fonttools, but shouldn't ttx be only dealing with GMT/UTC time? Therefore, bitmap fonts are still not a bad choice. For example, WenQuanYi bitmap song font (xfonts-wqy) is such a bitmap font. Unfortunately, I found the firefox built by Debian sid cannot work well with bitmap fonts. When the fonts are set to bitmap font, such as WenQuanYi, the hyperlink texts with bold face usually flicker as mouse pass through them. It is the case even for pure English hyperlinks, say, the bug reports page of Debian if the fonts of western are set to Bitmap fonts. Bug#367853: libdb transition policy? (Was: Re: Bug#367853: libetpan: Please consider transitioning to libdb4.4)
[CCing to -devel and to people who maintain packages that depend on libetpan] Package: libetpan Severity: wishlist Hi, currently several versions of the berkeley db libraries are used in the archive: libdb[4.2,4.3,4.4]. Please consider upgrading to libdb4.4 in order to ship etch with fewer versions of this library. Thank you for pointing this. However, if I will build library against libdb4.4 instead of libdb4.2, this will probably break any binaries built against the library - both packaged and local. Asking upstream to change soname is IMO not an option in this case because libdb transition is debian internal activity, and upstream has nothing to do with it. So how to handle this? Change soname (making it different from upstream)? Reading Library Packaging guide [1] could not point me to any particular solution. Btw, I guess the same situation is with other packages also - maybe there is some policy around this particular transition? Bug#368548: ratpoison: Should not depend on 9menu
* Jorgen Schaefer [EMAIL PROTECTED] [060523 01:14]: One small problem: ratpoison now Depends: on 9menu. While this is nice, I find it somewhat obscure that a window manager like ratpoison _requires_ a menu application upon installation. It would be nice if this would be changed to Recommends:, since it surely is not required for ratpoison to work. I thought a long time about this. The reason leading me to this direction were: - 9menu if quite tiny. The binary of it is smaller than the ruby bindings of ratpoison, and the binary make the largest part of the package. The whole unpacked package, even when rounding all files to block sizes, would fit within the changelog.Debian.gz of ratpoison. - There is no way to specify that 9menu should be installed when menu is installed. If menu is installed, all halfly capable window managers offer to start ratpoison with a simple click into the menu. I'd much prefer to have a nice way back when someone accidentially clicks on ratpoison, so that admins can install ratpoison for the power users with a clear conscience. - Least I don't know how to calculate the window manager priority when there is a menu but not always... Hi, sorry but I forgot one important thing, the /etc/apt/preferences and /etc/apt/sources.list I provided are used to install the testing package of emacs21-common. Bug#368504: kate: kwrite crash and doesn't save modifications on file.
Tell me if this backtrace could be more useful. I think is related to same problem since it is what I got after pressing the save button, althought the actions from inside kwrite weren't similar but not identical. I found the setting that causes this behaviour to happen. It happens if grp:shifts_toggle is used in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to switch between keymaps (at least when using en,il keymaps option). Bug#368590: monodevelop: Recent files/solutions always empty
Package: monodevelop Version: 0.10-1 Severity: normal Hello, I'm having this problem from the very beginning (previous versions of Monodevelop). The Recent Files and Recent Solutions menu items are always empty (strangely enough, the Recent Files contains some times the last file opened). When opening a solution, it is correctly added in the menu, but if I restart Monodevelop, it isn't there anymore. I thought it might be a problem with the config files so removed the whole directory and restarted, with no improvment whatsoever. I checked in case it was a write-access problem, but it's not the case, the settings directory is writable and all settings are correctly kept from session to session. What I find weird is that no-one seems to have reported the bug, and I can't seem to find anything on the web. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages monodevelop depends on: ii aterm [x-terminal-emul 1.0.0-2 Afterstep XVT - a VT102 emulator f ii gnome-icon-theme 2.14.2-1 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii gnome-terminal [x-term 2.14.1-1 The GNOME 2 terminal emulator appl ii libgconf2.0-cil2.8.2-2 CLI binding for GConf 2.12 ii libgecko2.0-cil0.11-2CLI binding for the GtkMozEmbed li ii libglade2.0-cil2.8.2-2 CLI binding for the Glade librarie ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.2-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libglib2.0-cil 2.8.2-2 CLI binding for the GLib utility l ii libgnome2.0-cil2.8.2-2 CLI binding for GNOME 2.12 ii libgtk2.0-02.8.17-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtk2.0-cil 2.8.2-2 CLI binding for the GTK+ toolkit 2 ii libgtksourceview1.0-0 1.6.1-2 shared libraries for the GTK+ synt ii libgtksourceview2.0-ci 0.10-3CLI binding for the gtksourceview ii liblog4net1.2-cil 1.2.8+1.2.9beta-1 highly configurable logging API fo ii libmono-cecil0.3-cil 0.3-1 library to generate and inspect CI ii libmono-corlib1.0-cil 1.1.13.6-4Mono core library (1.0) ii libmono-sharpzip0.84-c 1.1.13.6-4Mono SharpZipLib library ii libmono-system-runtime 1.1.13.6-4Mono System.Runtime library ii libmono-system1.0-cil 1.1.13.6-4Mono System libraries (1.0) ii libmono1.0-cil 1.1.13.6-4Mono libraries (1.0) ii mono-mcs 1.1.13.6-4Mono C# compiler ii mono-runtime 1.1.13.6-4Mono runtime ii monodoc-base 1.1.13-3 shared MonoDoc binaries ii monodoc-manual 1.1.13-3 compiled XML documentation from th ii pkg-config 0.20-1manage compile and link flags for ii xterm [x-terminal-emul 210-3 X terminal emulator monodevelop recommends no packages. -- debconf information: perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = (unset), LC_ALL = (unset), LC_TYPE = , LC_CTYPE = en_US, LANG = en_US.UTF-8 are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale (C). locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#368589: vim-runtime: syntax error in po.vim

Vi-compatible mode does not understand line continuations by default. The next upload will have a patched po.vim which overrides the 'cpoptions' to allow line continuation. Bug#366971: revelation: New upstream release (0.4.7)
Please incorporate the new upstream release. As you know, it fixes several bugs in the Debian BTS, which have been pending upload for months now. I'd love to do that, the package has been ready for months. But my regular sponsor is unavailable at the moment. I tried to find a sponsor through mentors et. al., sadly without luck. Bug#336291: libpam-ssh: does not work as advertised in README.Debian
Package: libpam-ssh Version: 1.91.0-9.1 Followup-For: Bug #336291 While I haven't tried with gdm (yet), just including pam-ssh-auth before common-auth (and pam-ssh-session after common-session) works fine for login. Login works with just giving the SSH key's passphrase aswell as hitting return at the SSH passphrase prompt and logging in with the user password at the following prompt (ie. for users without a SSH key). Thus I do not see were the original submitter had a problem with this and README.Debian should be changed to suggest including pam-ssh-auth before common-auth instead of after as this does work with a passphrase on the key that is different from the user password. Of course a nice cosmetic improvement would be to not prompt for a SSH passphrase if the the user has no SSH key. elmar -- .'`./\ | :' : Elmar Hoffmann [EMAIL PROTECTED]ASCII Ribbon Campaign \ / `. `'GPG key available via pgp.netagainst HTML email X `- vCards / \ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#368451: Bug#368327: udev won't install, no error message
Here. It seems to leak directories in /tmp/ still (they are not empty because they contain a subdirectory called .udev). I don't know what the syslogd problem is, I get it when trying to install sysklogd as well. Also, the INTERFACE_NEW=eth1 thing is confusing, I have an eth1 interface but it is not up. The install doesn't fail, which is good, but as I said when I installed the stable version and then removed it, after that the unstable version began installing successfully as well, so I think whatever caused my problem is gone. Since you said it was a deadlock thing, I also tried doing the installation at different CPU speeds, still no failure... Also, I made sure that udevd is running. Bug#358493: tagcoll FTBFS: testsuite failures.
Hi, I don't think depending on gcc 4.1 without really understanding the issue is a good idea. There is a good chance that the bug is not really fixed, but only hidden by circumstances. So it would really be the best way to go to extract a minimal test case, see whether it's gcc's or tagcoll's fault, and then make sure it is really fixed. -- Falk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
