Re: [slim] Problem with radio station(s)
I came upon this topic by accident. I've always wonder where to report bad links in my SB radio. Glad to see toby10 is here to help. I reported these to RadioTime, so let's see what happens. http://radiotime.com/contact-us.aspx So here's 2 stations I had problems with recently. 1. 95.9 The Rat - This was playing on my SB up until 3 months ago. Now it has completely disappeared from the SB rooster. I had signed up on RadioTime but not sure what is the link I am suppose to put in my SB favorites. None of these play on my SB. http://radiotime.com/station/s_22319/The_Rat_959.aspx 2. Re: [slim] Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection
Can now confirm the issue with one unit at least is caused by squeezenetwork version V7.5.3. Uninstalled V7.5.3 and installed V7.5.2 and the squeezebox classic skipped Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection and worked as usual. Then updated to V7.5.3 and the same problem occurred. Uninstalled V7.5.3 and installed V7.5.2 and the squeezebox classic works as expected via wired or wireless ethernet. The only issue with this is when connecting to a V7.5.2 server it installs Firmware 131 then when a connection to squeezenetwork is made you need to wait while it installs firmware 132, then when you connect back to squeezenetwork server, wait while firmware 131 is installed... Your SB3 getting firmware every time it switches between MySB.com and SBS server is normal, it is only doing what it is designed to do. Your SBS server and MySB.com server are running two different firmware versions and the player is detecting this difference. Re: [slim] Problem with radio station(s)
The most common cause of it was listed before, now it is not is due to the station changing it's streaming format, usually changing to AAC format. AAC stations are not listed on SB players when connected to MySB.com and using the RadioTime library. But these AAC streams are listed if using SBS server. If using MySB you can cut paste an AAC URL into your MySB Favorites (or Tune in URL) they will play on a Touch or Radio, they will not play on the older SB players (SB1/2/3, Duet, Boom). The AAC stream will play on ALL players if connected to SBS server. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85528 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Best Iphone/Ipad Interface for Squeezebox?
Congrats on building a new house! Very cool that you were able to set up audio throughout using squeezeboxes. I have an iPod Touch and use iPeng on it to control my squeezeboxes. It works really well and never gives me a problem. As garym pointed out, if you search the forums you'll find an overwhelming number of people that are happy with iPeng. The alternatives have their supporters too. Any you pick should, as you say, work, work, work. It will probably be personal perference as to which on you perfer. iPeng seems to be considered a more advanced interface - i.e. you can do more with it at the cost of some usability. The other (sorry, I don't know the name of it, squeemote?) is said to be more intuitive to use. I have a squeezebox controller from the Duet, which obviously supports all squeezebox features. I have yet to find something I wanted to do with iPeng that I could only do with the squeezebox controller. My favorite feature of iPeng is it has an option to list albums in release year order! Re: [slim] SB release 7.5.3: Unreliable. Anyone else?
I've posted in another thread about wireless DHCP issues with 7.5.3 and 7.5.4. But I am also seeing the same issues that are being listed here - frequent disconnects, SB3 and Boom rebooting or hanging, regular drop-outs etc. The drop-outs are interesting, as when it starts happening, it occurs every 30 seconds. I'm wondering if the recent firmware updates designed to reduce the network traffic to Mysb.com and make the client units do more work has had unintended consequences. I'm running a Boom and SB3, both over wifi using WPA2. Both devices configured to use static IP addresses. SBS 7.5.4 r31995 UBUNTU 9.10 I'm going to try some router adjustments, such as the channel in use, and the kind of security to see if that helps, but I don't believe that is the issue (why should it be? nothing there has changed). No, it doesn't. The only way it can affect 'sound quality' is if it's so slow or overloaded with other tasks that it can't keep the audio buffer sufficiently filled on the Squeezebox and you experience dropouts. Otherwise, it just needs to keep feeding data across the network, which is trivial for just about any computer. That said, the speed of the computer may affect the overall user experience with a Squeezebox product. Re: [slim] SB release 7.5.3: Unreliable. Anyone else?
I posted most of the following in another thread. I've been having problems since 7.5.3. I've reverted to 7.5.2 and now to 7.5.0 without success. I believe at least one other user was still having problems even after reverting to an earlier version. I've managed to get my SB3 playing music without dropping the connection by ethernet cable. However, it seems that it no longer likes my homeplugs, even though these are working fine for internet access. So something has changed but I can't with absolute certainty pin it on the update. I've tried xlinix. Currently I'm trying using the homeplug in a socket far away from where the SB3 power supply is plugged, in case that is somehow affecting it! It's OK so far but needs a longer test to prove anything (you can see I'm grasping at straws here!) Hmmm if going back to 7.5.2 didn't help and before you upgraded to 7.5.3 you didn't have any problems, then this must be something from outside. [slim] SB2 white noise/crash with ogg stream and net contention
Tried the official forums but didn't have any luck... Ever since I started regularly streaming an Ogg station on my SB2, I've had the following problem: Stream: http://www.sofaspace.net/stream.ogg.m3u SB2 firmware: v132, xilinx update done under same FW version. Server info: Version: 7.5.3 - r31792 @ Mon Jan 24 07:13:35 PST 2011 Hostname: squeezemachine Server IP Address: 10.0.2.15 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8 Platform Architecture: i686-linux Perl Version: 5.10.1 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10 Total Players Recognized: 1 WLAN: WPA2/CCMP-PSK, signal strength reported in the 90s by the player. Symptom: When playing, the player will sometimes start emitting white noise (analog output only used) for a few seconds. It will then restart. I've already removed, wiped the contacts of, and re-seated the WLAN card inside the server, with no change. The problem is vastly more likely to occur when there is contention on the network, e.g. a big Debian update running. NOTE: This contention doesn't have to be on the wireless part of the network. The frequency of the problem increases dramatically - virtually always reproducible - even when it's the wired side saturating the DSL's download capacity. I've seen references in these forums about the player's CPU getting out of sync with something (DSP?) leading to the same/similar symptoms, but without any root cause ever being identified. To speculate a bit wildly, it sounds like in my case things get triggered out of sync by Ogg packet loss/jitter.
