[Dx4win] winkey
last night winkey worked great with Writelog but no keying with Dx4WIN thru microKeyer2. All the settings were the same as 9.04. Turned everything off and went to bed. Got up this morning switched on and VOILA everything now working go figure! So I am in the dark as to what was happening but as long as it works, daddy is happy! 73's Cort K4WI __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] DX4win / WINKEY interface still apparently broken
I have a different version of the problem The short version is that when sending CW from DX4win using WINKEY ( ALT-K) the DOT and DASH are reversed? I was using DX4WIN 9.03 and Winkey Firmware 30.1 ( Firmware 31.2 would not work with DX4WIN 9.03...known bug) Today I upgraded DX4WIN to 9.05 now NEITHER version of Winkey Firmware ( 30.1 nor 31.2) work correctly with DX4WIN ... 8^( WINKEY still works correctly with other programs, most notably N1MM with both versions of the Winkey firmware. [Dx4win] WINKEY USB 3.1 Does NOT work with DX4WIN (Solved mostly)
OK here is the (hopefully) temporary workaround for those of you who have the latest Winkey USB 3.1 which DOES NOT (yet?) work with DX4WIN The cliff notes version is "down-rev" the WINKEY USB firmware from 31.02 to 30.10 the downside of this is largely the loss of the RTTY features in 31. For now I can live with this. You will also need to download TWO versions of WKTOOLS (tools4.3 works with 30.10 firmware and tools5.1 for 31.02 firmware.) you will need both tool kits to get back and forth. Also a good idea to unplug the USB cable after changing firmware for a few seconds so the drivers can reload Many thanks to K1EL at WINKEY for his prompt replies to my questions and the info necessary to do the reverse upgrade. Once the older firmware was loaded in the WINKEY , DX4WIM recognized the WINKEYER without a hitch. So far the folks at DX4WIN have not responded to acknowledge the problem . So when if ever there will be a fix that will allow return to later version of WINKEY firmware is unknown for now Also many thanks to Max N5HNJ who set me on the right track to get the information I needed and provided a few tips that even K1EL forgot to mention about the need for two different tool kits depending on the firmware. Re: [Dx4win] WINKEY USB and DX4WIN
Dave, you can go back and forth between 3.0 and 3.1, no problems. The 3.0 and 3.1 firmware can be download from K1EL: https://hamcrafters2.com/WinKeyer_31.html WK3tools is the only software you need to upload/update the firmware, be aware you need a specific WK3tools for the 3.1 and a different one for 3.0. From a CW stand point there is no much difference between the two version, but 3.1 enables the RTTY/FSK function that is fantastic. I hope Paul is considering to look at the code, maybe 3.0 will not be available anymore in the near future and this will push DX4WIN in a corner. -- 73 de Max, N5NHJ (I8NHJ) Thursday, May 23, 2019, 10:26:08 PM, you wrote: > Max > How do I get a copy of the earlier firmware , is it easy to install via > the USB port or is it a chip replacement? and what are the drawbacks > Dave > NR1DX > On 5/23/2019 6:06 PM, Max Mucci, N5NHJ (I8NHJ) wrote: >> Dave, >> I'm sorry for the delay, I've been busy all the day long. >> There is not any way to have the WK 3.1 working with DX4WIN, I asked Paul to >> fix this, I don't know if he is doing something. >> Only work around is to rollback/replace the current 3.1 firmware with the >> 3.0 that works. >> Let me know if you need any more help. >> Thursday, May 23, 2019, 2:42:41 PM, you wrote: >> >>> OK I found Max's post in the archive with a quoted response from K1EL >>> ...who points the finger a DX4WIN (not unexpected ...he said ..she >>> said?). Hi Dave, You may want to search the Archives. I seem to remember seeing someone upgrading to the latest firmware with WinKey and then having trouble getting WinKey to work with DX4WIN. I think I have 3.0.10 in my WinKey and the update installs new features DX4Win may not be able to handle until an update comes out. Re: [Dx4win] WINKEY USB and DX4WIN
Hi Dave, When you have opened the keyboard window, try using Alt-F9 or F-10 to set the keyer speed. This may wake up the Winkey connection. That is the way mine works. 73, Bud N7CW On Thu, May 23, 2019 at 6:50 AM Artek Manuals wrote: > Keith & Mike > > Thanks ... [Dx4win] Winkey DX4WIN
I have just built and installed the newest version of K1EL's Winkeyer, the one that has two output ports, but requires only one COM port to run. Great little machine! At present, the CW keyboard in DX4WIN will key only one rig using Winkey. Are there any plans afoot to have DX4WIN switch output ports on Winkey when the user switches radios within DX4WIN? From my reading of the Winkey Docs, it appears to be fairly easy. (But, I've been wrong before) Anyone know how to make it work? Any help appreciated. [Dx4win] Winkey Problems
Paul, 2) To say that USB to serial converters can't be used is one thing, but telling me to hook it up, disable the config, reboot, then uninstall the converter...etc etc. This is not acceptable. I have written several protocols all over serial and never encountered anything like this. My explanation is not understood very well Paul, maybe because my English Is poor. 1. I had the same problem when winkey via USB to serial converter(GEMBIRD) Was unplugged (= not connected to the computer) 2. I had the same problem when winkey via USB to serial was connected to another usb port entry (= auto new or other comport number) 3. I had the same problem when winkey was NOT connected (unplugged) to a real comport (PCI) where it was setup in dx4win (com1 to com8) 4. It works very well with my USB-SERIAL converter from Gembird, SO NO NEED TO UNINSTALL THE CONVERTER Never said that USB to SERIAL can't be used ( I use several here from GEMBIRD and they can handle every signal you need , can't be said of all Other brands on the market) 5. If you need to move it to another comport WINKEY should first be disabled or unselected or not in use (whatever you call it)in DX4WIN configuration Restart the program and then you can connect winkey via serial or usbserial to another port and reselect that comport in dx4win and it will work 73 Guy ON4AOI BAND DECODER and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/banddecoder.htm DX4WIN soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dx4win.htm DX4WIN, WRITELOG, WF1B RITTY CW RTTY interfaces at http://www.on4aoi.be/keyer.htm ARSWIN link and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/web7.htm DXTELNET soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dxt.htm -Original Message- From: Paul Pescitelli [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 24, 2006 11:07 PM To: ON4AOI Cc: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Winkey Problems Guy, Thanks for your assistance. [Dx4win] Winkey Problems
Guy, Thanks for your assistance. However, it still does not work. Unfortunately at this time this software does not meet my needs and until some of the bugs get worked out I will be forced to use another package. Bugs: 1) There is no reason that failure to open a com port should ever prevent a program from gracefully exiting. Using an equivalent to force kill (CTL+ALT+DEL) to end a task is not good error handling code. 2) To say that USB to serial converters can't be used is one thing, but telling me to hook it up, disable the config, reboot, then uninstall the converter...etc etc. This is not acceptable. I have written several protocols all over serial and never encountered anything like this. In addition, I have not received input from anyone else in the community, not even the author. Guy, please do not take any of this personally and you are doing a wonderful job at supporting something that you believe in, but apparently it is just not for me at this time. regards, Paul K4UJ On 10/24/06, ON4AOI [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Ok Paul, That is the problem You first have to disable the winkey with the USB to serial converter CONNECTED and normally WORKING in dx4win Next close dx4win normally, (maybe you need to reboot also) unplug the USB to serial attach to the pci serial card and then restart DX4WIN and select where winkey is attached now. What is the microHAM CW Keyer? For full details see: www.microham-usa.com/Products/ck.html In short: CW KEYER is a powerful USB CW interface/memory keyer based on the K1EL WinKey chip and microKEYER technology. CW Keyer provides the CW features of the original microKEYER and a USB radio control (CAT) interface in a small, readily portable package for those with who do not need the audio handling of microKEYER. CW KEYERT uses a single USB port and is directly supported by many logging and contest programs for both radio control and CW transmission. CW KEYER also supports a PS/2 keyboard for keyboard sent CW and control of the memory functions or a PS/2 keypad for message control only. The keyboard or keypad function even when CW KEYER is connected to a computer. The user can program up to nine extra messages into CW Keyer and use the keypad to send them as needed even if the keyer is under control of an application program (logger, contest logger, etc.). CW Keyer has two RCA outputs on the rear panel ... although they are labeled CW and PTT the outputs are driven by Pin3 and Pin5 of the WinKey chip and can be used to key two different radios if supported by the controlling application. The new microHAM CW Keyer is now shipping. I have been told that the initial batch left Slovakia for the US yesterday. Additional units should follow on a regular basis. Alternatively, the CW and PTT outputs can be used as inputs to a traditional switch box. 73, ... The microKEYER is not only a keyer and it can be used by Dx4Win as a radio control interface, CW interface, PTT interface, PSK interface and RTTY interface. My own Dx4Win 7.01 can do all this things using 3 different com: ports created by the USB device router: one usb port handle 3 com: ports... I think it's a good stuff, folks! [Dx4win] DX4WIN WinKey ??
Hi, I hope this is not the question Nr. 1000 for this topic, hi hi. Is there a possibility to use WinKey in the actuall version of DX4WIN ? I am using V5.03 and it seems that there is no way to use it. 73 Sven DL8HCO --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment. [Dx4win] DX4WIN WinKey ??
DX4win does'nt work with WinKey as far as I know. It has not yet a routine that handles WinKey protocol, so they dont understand each other. Jos on4kj ( OR4G operator ) - Original Message - From: S.
