[FairfieldLife] Jesus' words: description or instruction?

2006-06-23 Thread shempmcgurk
The following phrase of Jesus' is used by many fundamentalist
Christians as a justification for telling people that if they don't
accept Jesus as their personal savior that they will burn in hell for
all eternity:

I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the
Father, but through me. If you had known me, you would have known My
Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.

But is this phrase an instruction of Jesus' to get to enlightenment --
as per the Fundamentalists I cite above -- or is it a description of
the goal? That is, once you are having the experience of
enlightenment within a Christian context that this quote of Jesus
makes sense?

If it is the latter -- which is a view I subscribe to -- I believe it
relieves the Christians of the horrible burden -- and karma -- of
being Talibanesque and condemning everyone who isn't a Christian to an
eternity of hell.

Actually, he was doing what spiritual teachers have
done for eons when the predicted results of their
teachings don't work out as quite promised. That
is, he was trying to create a sense of 'group
identity' based on paranoia -- us vs. them -- to
replace the sense of group identity that would have
developed naturally if people had been realizing
enlightenment as predicted, or even having strong
and consistent spiritual experiences.

You see it in many spiritual trips, especially
around the 'seven-year mark' of the tradition's
popularity. It's that point at which people start
to wonder whether it's all been worth it for them.
If a lot of them are starting to realize that the
'payoff' isn't quite what was promised, one of the
first tricks trotted out by the spiritual teachers
is the 'us vs. them' thang. Works every time, too,
because it appeals to the part of every seeker
that wants to feel important, snd worthy of
persecution.

This is a phenomenon seen in many places. Let's take for exmaple an
unnamed Scandinavian country in the 1980s:

The national TM-Movement is made up of the factions, MIK and WGAE
(World GOvernment of the Age of Enlightenment).

MIKI was not only infiltrated, by in fact led, by a person whose
loyalty lay with the somewhat amoprhous congregation united by the
common interest of keeping the status quo: the government/national
security establishment (henceforth GNSE). Let's call this person H.

When H resigned from his post in the mid-80s, his successor, let's
call him R, was not elected from the cadre of active TM-teachers, but
was handpicked by a secret inner circle.

If H's resume was not a give away (official member of the Party with
tie-ins to MI), certainly so was R's - a former employee his country's
NSA.

Whereas MIKI's activities was curtailed/made harmless to the country's
political status quo by GNSE ensuring that the activities of this
organization would never become more than each month teaching a
handfull of people a deepm relaxation tehcnique - GNSE was still
curios to see where this WGAE deal would go, perhaps the TMO was in
fact really bad people with ulterior designs?

After all, these people do claim to be some sort of World Government.

So, what to do - given the ineptitude of the TMO?

As it were, MIKI leadership presented WGAE with what was at the top of
WGAE's agenda at the time - a centrally located place in the captial
where to do communal Sidhi-programs.

The location? The contract in the building offered up by MIKI had a
long and covert history of tie-ins with the GNSE- all the way back to
WWII and the systematic large-scale mail-snoopping and eavesdropping
taking place then.

As soon as this operation was up and running, MIKI leadership faded
into the background and GNSE moved in to keep a tab in the WGAE - the
place was bugged.

There you are.. :-)

[FairfieldLife] Walker kids,

2006-06-23 Thread dhamiltony2k5
down in Tn. with Walker kids.

Latest news (6.22.06 Thurs) is that the ambulating kids were going
to leave Tn soon.and come home. Lizzy's prognosis is extremely
complex. She should not be moved but the hospital is going through
the moves to release her. It is looking like the rest of the Walker
family (parents and ambulating kids) is going to drive home while
Lizzy stays there for a while more and is she is transported
separately. Will Ham and Jennifer are to stay with Lizzy to care
for her.

They got a reading of the MRI of Lizzy with the ortho surgeon on
Weds. It is a very complicated deal. Pelvis definitely broke and
is now in a 'good' alignment. Extremely delicate and difficult for
her to move. Prognosis for recovery is very mixed. They still are
looking at her organ function, bowel in particular now. That whole
areas was wounded, operated on and things sewn closed. But the
conclusion now with the hospital then was that she was to be
discharged on Thursday. On Thursday morning they worked with Lizzy
to show her how to move. One leg sort of bares weight. The other
not at all. Within a few minutes of sitting in a wheelchair she
gets sick. They want to discharge her regardless at this point.
She is without health insurance so not really welcome beyond
emergency need. Strategy on Llizzy's side is to keep her quiet and
try to let the bones get going with spinning and knitting their
breaks. It may or may not work.

When Lizzy is released, Lizzy will be trasnported by ambulance to a
local hotel room there for some while. Jennifer and Will Hamilton
there are nurses for Lizzy now. Lizzy needs 24/7 care.

-Doug

Generally,

Not Easy Convalescing

Thanks for pursuing this. Most of the kids are convalescing there
in the area with their various wounds. Sedated, quiet
recovering. It is not simple. One is still in the hospital and
will be there in the area possibly for some while longer. The
Walkers are hold up around there for a while near the hospitals.
Some of the injuries are very complex.

The hospitals are stablizing and moving the paitents out, as fast as
they can. The kids are sedated and quiet mostly outside the
hospitals. Most of the ones released are black and blue in various
ways.. The son who broke his arm and shoulder ambulating but is down
and out with
a lot with pain and pain medication. His is a very complex break
and surgery.

They are not just 'fine' and coming home quite yet. The system is
trying to get them out the door but the prognosis for several of
them is very complicated with many different recovery possibilites.

The system while patching them up is sending them out the door as
fast as it can. The last child to leave hospital is very precarious
and they are trying to discharge soon. Like tomorrow. That aspect
of the care is extremely sketchy, as they say. Discharged, fragile
  to what?
What is their thinking? Part of it is that she is uninsured, it is
the system.

She is an older child just out of school who is not on the family
health policy. Uninsured. Hers is the most complex injury. These
kind of uninsured kids are not an uncommon occurance in America
now. They refer to it as the 'bubble' between family insurance and
adult life.

I would imagine that it is taking a lot of out-of-pocket money for
them all to be there. Heidi works for MUM, which we know what that
means as far as means.

Sending some support to her by her address in Fairfield is one way
of getting her some cash to go on. People here are tending her home
matters. US postal mail to her house will get to her.

Heidi Walker has gone back to her maiden name.

Hi,

6.18.06

Jennifer just arrived down there (Sunday). I spoke with her and
Will Hamilton who is also down there in Tennessee. Timmy, the boy
who was driving was out of surgery for puttting his arm and shoulder
back together on the weekend. Multiple breaks put back together
with pins and such.

Rose with cracks in her pelvis and tailbone is released from
hospital and walking painfully with a walker. Danny the boy with
downs had a punctured lung originally and has now been released to
the family.

Elizabeth, Lizzy had multiple breaks in her pelvis, protruding
bones, internal bleeding. That was worked on right away with a day
of surgery. She is alert and awake now. Possibly/probably they
will have to do more to piece her pelvis back together. They are
waiting to see how the wounds seal over and also see her internal
organ functions.

The others in the car were bruised, banged and cut with flying glass
etc. A lot of their cuts were stapled together in emergency room
and they are since released. There was a girlfriend also in the car.
She was banged up but released quickly.

The Walker parents are both there on it and attending to the kids.
They have some rooms in a nearby hotel. Their

The national TM-Movement is made up of the factions,
 MIK and WGAE
(World GOvernment of the Age of Enlightenment).

MIKI was not only infiltrated, by in fact led, by a
 person whose
loyalty lay with the somewhat amoprhous congregation
 united by the
common interest of keeping the status quo: the
 government/national
security establishment (henceforth GNSE). Let's call
 this person H.

When H resigned from his post in the mid-80s, his
 successor, let's
call him R, was not elected from the cadre of active
 TM-teachers, but
was handpicked by a secret inner circle.

If H's resume was not a give away (official member

 employee his country's
 NSA.

 Whereas MIKI's activities was curtailed/made
 harmless to the country's
political status quo by GNSE ensuring that the
 activities of this
organization would never become more than each month

 GNSE was still

After all, these people do claim to be some sort of
 World Government.

So, what to do - given the ineptitude of the TMO?

As it were, MIKI leadership presented WGAE with what
 was at the top of
WGAE's agenda at the time - a centrally located
 place in the captial
 where to do communal Sidhi-programs.

The location? The contract in the building offered
 up by MIKI had a
long and covert history of tie-ins with the GNSE-
 all the way back to
WWII and the systematic large-scale mail-snoopping
 and eavesdropping
 taking place then.

As soon as this operation was up and running, MIKI
 leadership faded
into the background and GNSE moved in to keep a tab
 in the WGAE - the
 place was bugged.

 There you are.. :-)

So nobody in TM was having strong and consistent
spiritual experiences back in the '70s?

You see it in many spiritual trips, especially
around the 'seven-year mark' of the tradition's
popularity. It's that point at which people start
to wonder whether it's all been worth it for them.
If a lot of them are starting to realize that the
'payoff' isn't quite what was promised, one of the
first tricks trotted out by the spiritual teachers
is the 'us vs. them' thang. Works every time, too,
because it appeals to the part of every seeker
that wants to feel important, snd worthy of
 persecution.

the socialist family, the same way Trotsky fought with Stalin...they were
off a little between their ideologies but, to them, they were worlds

rather than communists.Like the communists, Hitler and his

production.Like Hitler, the father of Communism, Karl Marx, was a

Shemp I agree here whole heartedly. I was interested in the
translation of the quotes. Were people termed liberal at the time Hitler rose to
power? Is it a term he would have used? Yes I think you are right that he did
use the word Bolshevik with disgust.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Jesus' words: description or instruction?

2006-06-23 Thread MDixon6569

In a message dated 6/23/06 1:03:20 A.M. Central Daylight Time,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

The following phrase of Jesus' is used by many fundamentalist
Christians as a justification for telling people that if they don't
accept Jesus as their personal savior that they will burn in hell for
all eternity:"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father, but through me. If you had known me, you would have
known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen
Him."But is this phrase an instruction of Jesus' to get to
enlightenment -- as per the Fundamentalists I cite above -- or is it a
description of the goal? That is, once you are having the experience of
enlightenment within a Christian context that this quote of Jesus
  makes sense?

There could be something said for both interpretations. One
being an initiation or rebirthonto the spiritual path by accepting the
bloodof Christ, as that which atones for all sin, the ultimate sacrifice,
the perfect lamb, free of sin, one's intention binding him to the spiritual
path. And then therecould be the deeper meaning of personal experience of
complete enlightenment. Why not both? Christ didsay "unless your are
reborn you can not enter the Kingdom of heaven". While I could never claim to be
an authorityon Biblical scripture, I think Christians placean awful
lot of emphasis on the numerousprophesies from the old testament that
foretell His coming as a covenant with Godand by accepting the foretold
sacrifice of the Lamb of God one is then covered in that Covenant. Just as
oneexpresses an intention when performing a yagya that binds him to the
action. Personally I have always had a problem with the shedding of blood to
atone for sin concept but, the Old Testament says without the shedding of blood
there can be no atonementand it wasfirst accepted as the method in
the story of Cain and Able and has been used by both Jews and Muslims ever
since, not to mention Hindus and their many sacrifices to deities which
Buddhaalmost put a stop to.

[FairfieldLife] Town mixed on plans for 'peace palaces'

2006-06-23 Thread Vaj

http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/living/14851593.htmPosted on Mon, Jun. 19, 2006Town mixed on plans for 'peace palaces'The Transcendental Meditation movement wants to build the World Capital of Peace in Smith Center.BY CARL MANNINGAssociated PressSMITH CENTER - Supporters of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi see his Transcendental Meditation movement as fostering world harmony. But in this farm town in the heart of the heartland, the movement's plans to build its World Capital of Peace here are creating more tension than tranquillity.Folks became alarmed when the outsiders bought up large tracts of land. Nine local pastors warned the movement that it is encroaching on their spiritual turf. And when a TM representative started throwing around terms at a meeting like "waves of coherence" and "silent zero point," the farmers just shook their heads."It hasn't split the community, but it has caused a lot of tension," Mayor Randy Archer said. "We're an older community, and new things that come to town are scary for some people."The TM movement -- whose founder, the Maharishi, was the Beatles' guru -- has announced plans to spend $15 million to build a dozen marble "peace palaces" facing east in Smith County. Because TM's practitioners want to disperse "waves of coherence" as widely as possible to influence others, they chose a spot just 10 miles west of the geographic center of the continental U.S.Eric Michener, who works as project coordinator out of a storefront office on Main Street, conceded that his group, the nonprofit Maharishi-affiliated Global Country of World Peace, probably could have made a better first impression.Altogether, the Maharishi wants to build 2,400 peace palaces in 250 U.S. cities and has opened ones in Houston, Bethesda, Md., Lexington, Ky., and Fairfield, Iowa, where his group also has operated Maharishi University of Management for three decades. In Smith County, initial plans call for about 300 people to live in the two-story palaces, but that could increase to 2,000 over the next three years, said Kent Boyum, the group's director of governmental affairs. He said the palaces also could be open to tourists. Work is expected to begin this summer and be completed by year's end.TM traces its roots to India. The movement began in the 1950s and is best known for its celebrity disciples, who have included Clint Eastwood and the comedian Andy Kaufman. Practitioners repeat a thought -- a mantra -- over and over to achieve relaxation, typically for 15 or 20 minutes every morning and evening.Supporters say that TM is a technique, not a religion -- that people can meditate and still be of any faith they want. But the Rev. Greg Hubbard of the Evangelical Free Church, countered, "They say they aren't a religion, and I say baloney." In April, he and other pastors signed a letter to the local newspaper saying: "They are welcome, but they must understand we are competing for the eternal souls of people."Hubbard said freedom of religion or the right to own property aren't issues here. "The thing that bothers us is what we perceive to be their blatant dishonesty about who they are. The bottom line is, dishonest neighbors aren't good neighbors," he said.Others in Smith Center -- a dwindling town of 1,800 with an aging population -- are withholding judgment."I'm not for them. I'm not against them. You've got to wait and see," the mayor said. "If it helps the community, that'll be great, and I hope it does help the community."Boyum held out the possibility of an economic boost for the town: "Our intention is to funnel as much finances and work through the local community as we can. We all are consumers and will bring resources into the county."

One could say that the TMO itself, at this
stage of the game, is not very important,
and thus any information about it is at
an even lower level of importance. :-)

And still less important is *mis*information
about the TMO, such as the uninformed rant
of Krishnamurti to which Vaj posted the link.

I suppose the actual *information* conveyed
in that clip was that Krishnamurti didn't know
what he was talking about. Perhaps *that* is
important, eh?

the
communists was an in-the-family fight within the socialist family,
the
same way Trotsky fought with Stalin...they were off a little

Like the communists, Hitler and his socialists believed in central

You agree with Shemp that there are people on this

I was interested in the translation of

a term he would have used? Yes I think you are right that he did
use the
 word Bolshevik with disgust.

This is a phenomenon seen in many places. Let's take
  for exmaple an
unnamed Scandinavian country in the 1980s:

The national TM-Movement is made up of the factions,
  MIK and WGAE
(World GOvernment of the Age of Enlightenment).

MIKI was not only infiltrated, by in fact led, by a
  person whose
loyalty lay with the somewhat amoprhous congregation
  united by the
common interest of keeping the status quo: the
  government/national
security establishment (henceforth GNSE). Let's call
  this person H.

When H resigned from his post in the mid-80s, his
  successor, let's
call him R, was not elected from the cadre of active
  TM-teachers, but
was handpicked by a secret inner circle.

If H's resume was not a give away (official member
  of the Party with
tie-ins to MI), certainly so was R's - a former
  employee his country's
  NSA.

  Whereas MIKI's activities was curtailed/made
  harmless to the country's
political status quo by GNSE ensuring that the
  activities of this
organization would never become more than each month
  teaching a
handfull of people a deepm relaxation tehcnique -
  GNSE was still
curios to see where this WGAE deal would go, perhaps
  the TMO was in
fact really bad people with ulterior designs?

After all, these people do claim to be some sort of
  World Government.

So, what to do - given the ineptitude of the TMO?

As it were, MIKI leadership presented WGAE with what
  was at the top of
WGAE's agenda at the time - a centrally located
  place in the captial
  where to do communal Sidhi-programs.

The location? The contract in the building offered
  up by MIKI had a
long and covert history of tie-ins with the GNSE-
  all the way back to
WWII and the systematic large-scale mail-snoopping
  and eavesdropping
  taking place then.

As soon as this operation was up and running, MIKI
  leadership faded
into the background and GNSE moved in to keep a tab
  in the WGAE - the
  place was bugged.

  There you are.. :-)

So nobody in TM was having strong and consistent
spiritual experiences back in the '70s?

Well, I was having CC experiences within a few months of learning TM, but the
local

If a lot of them are starting to realize that the

Yes, that's a big question, typically unexamined by

the only two choices were unbridled capitalism and
Marxian socialism.

But it's a lot easier to decide which side you're on
if you can make yourself believe there are only two

amusement to read that people will DO such things. It's better than
when, at the turn of the century, the most popular entertainment
(and quite socially acceptable to do, even for families) was to go
to freak shows.

I only hope that Arlene and Harris Kaplan have at least a few
million still tucked away that they can enjoy when, in a few years,
after MMY dies, and they're able to finally stick their heads out of
the ether and Harris Kaplan will look into the eyes of his beloved
Arlene and, like Col. Nicholson at the end of Bridge on the River
Kwai will say: What have I done?

Now, if the CIA could only convince Yahoo! to get us back the old
format...

You see it in many spiritual trips, especially

to wonder whether it's all been worth it for them.
If a lot of them are starting to realize that the

Given the lame-brain country that the US is post 9-11 with the Bushistas

With Short Cut in the extras watch the satsangs and ask yourself if

Actually, he was doing what spiritual teachers have

You see it in many spiritual trips, especially

to wonder whether it's all been worth it for them.
If a lot of them are starting to realize that the

A foreign friend claims he's been monnitored many times because he's a foreign

No, not all federal jobs require minimal educations or smarts.
Did I imply that or did you assume I meant that? Not necessarily on the better
and cheaper but it would be easier to do something about inefficiencies with a
privately ownedcompany, like cancel the contract due to noncompliance or
poor training and hire another.

a good job. We might give Trader Joe's a shot. Perhaps Amazon.

Have you never recieved good service from a private company?

Do you think any you've mentioned would be the low bidder?

Yes. I think that they are nimble enough to bid to any given standard
and payment structure. But your question clarifies your original
concern. Its not about privatization at all. Its about cost.

I agree with that -- that cost is an issue -- to a degree. Better
service generally costs more than poor service (exceptions always.)

But perpaps the larger problem is not privatization (clearly its not),
and not so much cost -- the US is spending tons on airport security.
Perhaps more the problem is inept and corrupt system of government
contracting. Made worse by a corrupt and inept congress that writes
poor, special-interest, pork laiden legislation. And a poor executive
branch that favors politics and favoriitism in its administraton of
governement programs.

If (the above is) so, then governement programs appear exactly the
worst thing to favor. However, privatization in such a corrupt and
inept political structure would be far from perfect -- though in many
cases better than government programs.

Whats needed is strong structural political and voting reform:

1) IRV -- Instant run-off voting -- allowing for the fluorishing of
multiple parties -- without making voters throw away their vote for
voting (first rounds) for a REAL candidate that reflects their views.

2) Full publically funded presidental, congressional and governor
campaigns. (Which is MUCH cheaper than the current systems' corruption
and waste of focus on fundraising)

3) No jerrymandering of house districts. (It can be done.)

4) 4-6 year terms for the House

5) stronger constraints on revolving door lobbying by former govt
executives and congress persons

6) Recountable, tracable, verifiable modern polling techniques (e.g.,
paper ballot, optical scan).

7) National standards for all congressional elections. Including
multi-partisian election management -- not political hacks (al la K.
Harris)

8) AND --- perhaps, the same standards for voting as for citizenship.
Like getting a drivers licence -- one needs to show some degree of
competence before getting behind the wheel of a voting booth. With
strong montioring to prevent discrimination against various sectors
and classes.

9) And linked to #8, a $50-100 tax credit when you vote. (Instead of
making it mandatory, like most modern countries do.)

10) Mandatory and fully disclosed comparable IQ and pyschological
tests for all congressional and presidential candidates. Nothing more
than what we expect of fighter pilots. (If you are going to imitate
on, at least have the Right Stuff.)

11) Real debates. Like West Wing election debates.

Other possibilities --

Fred travis type eeg tests on all candidates.

Debates where all candidates must take a truth serum prior to the
debate. Second debate, give them all acid. Third debate, ecstacy. See
the inner candidate. :)

Yes I think the question is where do you draw the line from
referring to a
country as being capitalistic and being socialistic. There is a
point where it
tilts from one side to the other. The more one pushes that
balance beam
towards more social programs paid for by the wealthy, the closer
it is to tipping
to being called a socialist country.

The U.S. is a mixture of both, with a very large leaning towards
capitalism.

But there is an incredibly large segment of the economy that is fed
and controlled by the government...to the tune of $2.8 trillion a
year (that's the federal government budget): Social Security,
Medicaid, Medicare, Education agriculture subsidies, etc.

The following phrase of Jesus' is used by many fundamentalist

My

But is this phrase an instruction of Jesus' to get to
enlightenment --
as per the Fundamentalists I cite above -- or is it a description
of
the goal? That is, once you are having the experience of
enlightenment within a Christian context that this quote of Jesus
 makes sense?

If it is the latter -- which is a view I subscribe to -- I believe
it
relieves the Christians of the horrible burden -- and karma -- of
being Talibanesque and condemning everyone who isn't a Christian
to an
 eternity of hell.

Jesus also, said..I am in the Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
He also said, Before Abraham was, I AM

Take these phrases together and you are talking about a fundamental
transcendental entity that embodies Truth, and is within everyone,
and is eternal.
Hmmm...sounds familiar.

(but don't bother trying to explain that to a fundie christian.)

You see it in many spiritual trips, especially

If a lot of them are starting to realize that the

hundreds of studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals,

received over 20 million dollars in research grants, and has 500

I mean, no other meditation even comes remotely close so TM must

[FairfieldLife] Sweet, sweet words from a European CEO

2006-06-23 Thread shempmcgurk
Just when you think the world has gone totally mad, along comes
someone who brightens up the skies with good old common sense.

From the April 24, 2006 edition of the New Yorker in a piece
called High and Low about low-cost airfares in Europe, Michael
O'Leary, the CEO of the Irish airline Ryanair:

Air travel was one of the few restricted markets back in the mid-
eighties. The only reason it was restricted was because it had been
fucked up by government and civil servants since about 1945.

Travel agents should be taken out and shot.

On environmentalists: Their solution is, stop ordinary people or poor
people from flying. Let's have flying back with just the rich people,
and then all will be well again. Yeh know, bollocks.

And the best one: There's really very little prejudice that can't be
overcome by an eighteen-pound tickert.

  Hey Gina,

I searched a little bit. Once you get the hang of it there are
 gems
to find. There is a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with FF
 or
FFL. But in between there is some interesting stuff too. Some
people have thrilled with filling things up here otherwise to
obviscate the subject. So it is.

Here are some things that might interest your research:

'Buy a Raja'. For a million or so. 50% down will do.

The re-cert and de-certification of the TMO.

  De-certification of the TMO,

Epilogue Re-cert, A lot of people off the hook with de-
 certification:

These posts scratch the surface. Reading the posts around these
is
useful perspective. It is easiest to start in the 'messages'
and
then to plug the numbers of the posts into the msg.# search.
That
will give the post and then the area of the archive with the
 post.
Then you can scroll back and forth through the subject headings
to
  get the context.

Basically the prime effort for both the re-certs and the rajas
was
to bring real estate to the TMO. Teaching TM was incidental to
 the
real estate. You can read that and it is pretty obvious. No
 money
of conseqence was forthcoming to the people who went along with
 it,
  as it turned out.

Another side effect was that it depopulated the domes of true-
believers and has diluted the group-effect that has always been
 the
  reason for Fairfield.

It evidently is now about monument building and real estate
 building
on good people's goodwill. And then, we all now know what the
TMO
(MMY) does with real estate. There is an old pattern. It
 generally
gets sold and the money goes AWOL in form. If MMY and

The following phrase of Jesus' is used by many fundamentalist
Christians as a justification for telling people that if they
 don't
accept Jesus as their personal savior that they will burn in
hell
 for
  all eternity:

I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the
Father, but through me. If you had known me, you would have
known
 My
Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.

But is this phrase an instruction of Jesus' to get to
 enlightenment --
as per the Fundamentalists I cite above -- or is it a
description
 of
the goal? That is, once you are having the experience of
enlightenment within a Christian context that this quote of
Jesus
  makes sense?

If it is the latter -- which is a view I subscribe to -- I
believe
 it
relieves the Christians of the horrible burden -- and karma --
of
being Talibanesque and condemning everyone who isn't a Christian
 to an
  eternity of hell.

Jesus also, said..I am in the Father, and ye in me, and I in
you.
He also said, Before Abraham was, I AM

Take these phrases together and you are talking about a
fundamental
transcendental entity that embodies Truth, and is within everyone,
 and is eternal.
 Hmmm...sounds familiar.

(but don't bother trying to explain that to a fundie christian.)

Thanks for those additional quotes, they're great. And, of course,
they fit in perfectly with the kingdom of heaven is within you
