[Audyssey] swamp-killed by flies? lol

2012-01-03 Thread Johnny Tai
I think awhile ago some people reported that they step into the factory,
hearing lots of flies, then died without hearing anything else...that just
happened to me- but was at the southeastern corner of the map...I came across
what sounded like a billion flies, I walked around, grabbing items left and
right. Then I notice the control went a bit laggy, then I died...lol

[Audyssey] Roadsplat bug and question

2012-01-03 Thread QuentinC

Hello,
There is still a bug in roadsplat 3.0.
IN a game I was killed by a bomb. I don't understand how it works even
with the example in the readme but it's another discussion.
After having been killed by a bomb, I wanted to start a new game. The
game started but I was unable to cross the road and there were no cars.
I tried multiple times to escape and restart again but nothing changed.
I was obliged to quit and restart the game completly.

I have another question beside the understanding of the bombs: I have
the impression that 1/there is a delay between the last bip and the
arrival at the other side of the road. Is that normal ? When hearing the
5 bips am I already on the road or not ? 2/I also have the impression
that sounds are not completely centered. I successfully cross the read
when having a car in the center but I'm hit when it is a little on the
right, and for shooting them as well, I have more success when waiting
to have them a little on the right than in full center.

Re: [Audyssey] swamp-killed by flies? lol

2012-01-03 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
Yeah unfortunately there is a bug allowing the corpse sounds to fill all
available sound buffers which essentially blinds you to all other game
information. The game is supposed to overwrite less important sounds to make
room for more important ones, like zombies and foot steps, so I'll have that
fixed in the next version.

I think awhile ago some people
reported that they step into the factory, hearing lots of

kind of method works best for telling the doneness of chicken? Or, what is the
easiest way to prepare an omelet without sight? Join us every week to find out!
Our hosts, Dale Campbell and Cheryl Cumings will give us the tips, tricks, and
recipies that will show us that we can, cook in the dark!

Out-Of-Sight Trivial Pursuit
9:15 PM eastern
Hosted by Julie, Suzy, and Rick
Location: Game Zone
Join Rick, Julie and Suzy in the Game Zone, on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Tuesday
night at 9:15 PM eastern, for a new game that we are going to call
Out-of-Sight Trivia. There will be 2 teams, a roll of the dice and 5
categories.
If you roll a one the question will be in the donut shop category, which earns
you one point as you should never eat more than one donut at a time. It is also
a great room to drop in and have a chat with your fellow members sometime. If
you roll a 2, the category is Mutt and Jeff, If you or your team answer the
question correctly, you earn 2 points. If you roll a 3, the category is the MP3
room, where you might listen to or answer a question about entertainment. If
you roll a 4, the category is Four of a kind, the correct answer earns you 4
points. and last but not least, if you roll a 5 the category is the Yahtzee
room, which for a correct answer you will earn 5 points. The key here is to
roll a 6 and then you get to choose which category you would like the question
to be from.
If you like trivia, music, and entertainment then this is the game for you.

Zilch

10:30 PM eastern

Hosted by Diane

Location: Game Zone

Roll the dice and take your chances! Try to snag as many points as
possible but you better know when to quit otherwise, you'll lose it all
and Zilch out! Drop by for some fun and excitement because you never know
who will win until the final dice roll! No software to download and it
only takes a few minutes to get the hang of the game. Polished Zilch
players and new folk are most welcome!

Have a cool day!

Hello quentin,
I increased the delay between the last beep and the cross because
people were having it too easy to cross and not getting caught by a
car.
As for getting killed by a bomb I'll look into it soon.
I don't know what to tell youa bout the centering... the panning works
that when it's from -10 to 10 it's considered center, so very
slightly to the right would also be considered center. If I'll look
into it and see if it causes probles.

Re: [Audyssey] RC aircraft - Re: a thought on the Shard Workshop project

2012-01-03 Thread Tom Randall
Hey Charles and all.

The helis designed for indoor flying are mostly pretty small. I have a couple
of them here that I've bought over the last few years, my Bladerunner has a
rotor diameter of about 11 inches if memory serves and weighs in at about 55
grams would have to look at the manual to get exact specs. Last year I picked
up one of the little Sima s107 microcopters they're basically a cheapy version
of the Eflight micros. These have a rotor diameter of about 7 inches and they
weigh in at about 35 grams or so so they are very very small.

Yes you do need some space to fly these little things around, we have too much
crap in our house and besides flying things tend to scare Xena our female green
iguana so I tend to take my indoor craft either down to our rec room or over to
a friend's place who has more room. The motors on these little things are
easily audible so it is pretty easy to use the same type of hand-ear
coordination that we develop in audio gaming to fly them, the difference is you
definitely need to have good spatial concepts and be able to really understand
what three dimensions means and be able to think quickly that way. Basically
the first thing I try to work on if I haven't been flying for a while is to
achieve a stable hover, you want to get the heli off the ground a bit so that
your rotor wash does not cause too much turbulence and then try to hear if it
is drifting, they do drift very easily despite the fact that most of them have
an internal gyroscope and any air currents at all will cause this, then you
have to apply a very slight amount with your directional stick to counter this
movement. If you are a total which I am this is going to be challenging
because you will not know which way to move your directional stick, e.g. you
will not know if your heli is drifting forward, backward, or sideways. The
best approach that I've found is to simply apply a bit of direction and see
where it goes and be ready to correct quickly if you have guessed wrong.

These little things are loads of fun if you have somewhere to fly them, so far
as I'm concerned it's like gaming but even better in a way because you're
actually controlling a real object instead of a virtual one. I've had a
fascination with RC stuff most of my adult life but it's only since we are
seeing the advent of digital radio control and these reasonably affordable
products that I've been able to actually get into it. Having said that if you
do decide to give this a go, I would recommend that you pick up one of the
inexpensive ones to start with, something like the Sima helis are ok, they only
run around 30 bucks or so on Amazon last time I checked. That way if you crack
one up it isn't the end of the world. You can get better micros from companies
like Eflight for instance, I am just about ready to upgrade to one of these, if
you want strictly indoor flying then I am considering something like the MCX2.
If you want something that you can fly outside too then maybe the CX2 would be
worth looking at. There are of course way more expensive ones, you can spend
hundreds and thousands of dollars on this hobby but since I don't have that
kind of money to spend the ones I am talking about and the ones I buy are
probably considered the less expensive ones, the bigger one, the CX is around
150 or so last time I checked. One nice thing about the better ones from
Eflight, while the cheapy ones I have are really pretty much toys and if you
break them that's it, the Eflight ones are really closer to an true RC model
and you can get pretty much any spare parts you need if you do crash one.

In short, RC stuff is loads of fun and there are definitely things that we can
do in that hobby without sight. Besides my two helis I also have a bigger
quadrocopter called an x-ufo and a couple of 1/24 scale rc tanks. RC
hovercraft are something I'm really interested in but have not done much
research on which ones are good to get so would be glad for any info on that.
If anyone is interested in getting into this hobby I'd certainly be happy to
talk about it further but we probably oughta do it off list since this isn't
really gaming.

Game on.

Hi. I play 8 of the Storm8 games, no pun intended either. To register,
from any S8 game on the iOS device, go to settings, and then to Storm8.
From there, you can pikck your Storm8 username and password. Type in
your email and then from your email, reply to the confirmation, or click
the link, I forget which. Once your S8 id is setup, it will be the same
for all S8 games on that device and then you can log into the forum.
Feel free to add me from any s8 game by user name, it's ragallegos if
you want to team up. I just started playing Racing Live, but I'm very
active on most of the others. I also recommend www.stormatm.com for more
information, accessible calculators for your income, and for atm list
and codes.

Cheers.

Hi all.
Well today I tried to play pbgames the old java ones and they don't
load properly, used to work, but now they don't, a few on the forum
say the same thing.
So finally after all the updates and such, java games have finally
stopped working.

At least the old ms java files.
maybe these should go to bgt.
I like all the games, showdown, tj and dark destroyer, even though
they were the first.
I'd like them again, but yeah I guess the games made by pb are really
abandoned now.

even ms java is different now.

Hi, while I am sure this could be done it would be a very big project because
you would basically be rewriting the whole thing in a new language be it some C

not be a trivial project by any means.

Re: [Audyssey] RC aircraft - Re: a thought on the Shard Workshop project

2012-01-03 Thread Trouble
To help fix that drift. Get the helicopter to hover with tail to you.
Then if it drifts left, give rudder trim on radio a little until it
stops. With no wind conditions you should be able to get a steady
hover. If not know where the trims are on radio. They are right next
to the gimbals.

Hey Charles and all.

have a couple of them here that I've bought over the last few years,
my Bladerunner has a rotor diameter of about 11 inches if memory
serves and weighs in at about 55 grams would have to look at the
manual to get exact specs. Last year I picked up one of the little
Sima s107 microcopters they're basically a cheapy version of the
Eflight micros. These have a rotor diameter of about 7 inches and
they weigh in at about 35 grams or so so they are very very small.

Yes you do need some space to fly these little things around, we
have too much crap in our house and besides flying things tend to
scare Xena our female green iguana so I tend to take my indoor craft
either down to our rec room or over to a friend's place who has more
room. The motors on these little things are easily audible so it is
pretty easy to use the same type of hand-ear coordination that we
develop in audio gaming to fly them, the difference is you
definitely need to have good spatial concepts and be able to really
understand what three dimensions means and be able to think quickly
that way. Basically the first thing I try to work on if I haven't
been flying for a while is to achieve a stable hover, you want to
get the heli off the ground a bit so that your rotor wash does not
cause too much turbulence and then try to hear if it is drifting,
they do drift very easily despite the fact that most of them have an
internal gyroscope and any air currents at all will cause this, then
you have to apply a very slight amount with your directional stick
to counter this movement. If you are a total which I am this is
going to be challenging because you will not know which way to move
your directional stick, e.g. you will not know if your heli is
drifting forward, backward, or sideways. The best approach that
I've found is to simply apply a bit of direction and see where it
goes and be ready to correct quickly if you have guessed wrong.

These little things are loads of fun if you have somewhere to fly
them, so far as I'm concerned it's like gaming but even better in a
way because you're actually controlling a real object instead of a
virtual one. I've had a fascination with RC stuff most of my adult
life but it's only since we are seeing the advent of digital radio
control and these reasonably affordable products that I've been able
to actually get into it. Having said that if you do decide to give
this a go, I would recommend that you pick up one of the inexpensive
ones to start with, something like the Sima helis are ok, they only
run around 30 bucks or so on Amazon last time I checked. That way
if you crack one up it isn't the end of the world. You can get
better micros from companies like Eflight for instance, I am just
about ready to upgrade to one of these, if you want strictly indoor
flying then I am considering something like the MCX2. If you want
something that you can fly outside too then maybe the CX2 would be
worth looking at. There are of course way more expensive ones, you
can spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on this hobby but since
I don't have that kind of money to spend the ones I am talking about
and the ones I buy are probably considered the less expensive ones,
the bigger one, the CX is around 150 or so last time I checked. One
nice thing about the better ones from Eflight, while the cheapy ones
I have are really pretty much toys and if you break them that's it,
the Eflight ones are really closer to an true RC model and you can
get pretty much any spare parts you need if you do crash one.

In short, RC stuff is loads of fun and there are definitely things
that we can do in that hobby without sight. Besides my two helis I
also have a bigger quadrocopter called an x-ufo and a couple of 1/24
scale rc tanks. RC hovercraft are something I'm really interested
in but have not done much research on which ones are good to get so
would be glad for any info on that. If anyone is interested in
getting into this hobby I'd certainly be happy to talk about it
further but we probably oughta do it off list since this isn't really gaming.

If there is any such thing as an accessible Z-Code interpreter for Windows

If these games were originally written in java I wonder how hard it would be
to port them over to the Android platform since Android programs are
essentially Java. It would be well beyond my ability I am sure but perhaps
somebody who knows more than I do could do it. Just a thought.

Can Huge Cave work with a screen reader, in Windows, using an interpreter

Hello to my fellow gamers.
The one game that my brother and I both enjoyed playing in the days of dos

Now this would be cool if we could
1. get it to work in windows.
2. bring it up to code for win 7 users and add sound effects.
Like what you'd find in the caves.
Water dripping and everything else you'd find in a cave.
also, another game comes to mind.

That being said, anyone know where the shaman is in Hildibrad? I was pretty

How do I start that quest again? I've been pretty good with exploration on

Just to say this again, I said it already, but I thought I should reiterate:
these games were written in Java Script, not Java. Java is a language of the

Hi,

Yeah, I don't get this. You are absolutely right about the pB games
being written in Javascript, a web programming language, and in fact
they still play ok on my new PC. I've seen the thread Shaun is making
reference to and I'm of the mind its a PC specific problem rather than
the games themselves. Although, I do agree they could do for a rewrite
in BGT or something else to insure they maintain compatibility with
newer versions of Windows and to drop Internet Explorer etc as a
dependency.

Re: [Audyssey] pbgames is dead at last

Hi Tom,

No, the original language was javascript not Java. A lot of
non-programmer types get those two confused due to the similarity in
name, but they really are completely different languages. So to port
them to Android or something would require a rewrite in actual Java
using a compatible Java jvm and compiler.

Re: [Audyssey] Any chance of making huge cave work with windows?

2012-01-03 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Lisa,

The original Oregon Trail game was written for one of the first Mac computers.
Sorry, I forget the name of that thing. I never had one, but I guess allot of
people did. But I do not have any way of converting that code to code that I
can use. Actually can not even read the code.

I have been asked many many times for that game, and have tried, but just do
not have access to the code.

I would love to add sounds etc to many of the old favorite games, but without
access to the code of the game, it would mean rewriting the game from scratch
and trying to code it as good as the original game was, like I tried to do with
Trucker and golf. Well I did actually have the original code of trucker and
golf and did just add sounds and later other features. But without the
original code...

Re: [Audyssey] Looking for old game?

2012-01-03 Thread Jacob Kruger
Problem with games this old is that they won't generally run on my primary
windows7 64 bit machine, even in compatibility mode, so haven't tried too
many of them as of yet, and, I found that site via the fred's head blog post
about finding old dos games:

http://www.fredshead.info/2009/09/download-old-pc-games-for-free.html

Might still try, specifically copying some of these over to my older
windowsXP machine to check if want to run there, but, one day...smile

Stay well

What a neat resource. Have you tried any other of these games to determine
whether they work with say Jaws?

HYG, from the Dos museum - assume this is the right game - look for
relevant heading level 2, and you can download it from this page:

Looking for old game used to play on my Dos cojmputer called DND. Based
on Dungeons and dragons it was a blast. Went to a site where i thought
it was and the site is no longer there.

Any help would be appreciated.
