Re: [Audyssey] question about sounds
Yeah, if memory serves, the hum of the lightsaber was actually the hum of a film projector runthrough some sort of sound filter. I found that interesting. Also, there was a time when I didn't know Chubaka was, in fact, played by a person. There was another sound filter in that case, and boy did it work. Heheh. Thomas Ward wrote: Hi Phil, Actually, if memory serves me correctly the electric razer and bowl was used to make the Star Wars speaders. Not the light sabers. In any case those guys over at Skywalker Sound have a really good imagination as those sounds are world famous, and the finished sounds sound nothing like the actual tools to make them. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat
Hi there, Well, I can tell you that playing MK Armageddon for the Wii is going to be a trip. I personally can't wait to try it, as I have the PS2 version of the game, and would love to perform some of those special moves and fatalities using the motion controls. To answer your question though, no location information is required. The arenas aren't large enough for anyone to lose their opponent as they are in, for instance, Marvel Nemysis. The sounds of battle aren't actually in stereo for some unknown reason, but given the ease with which one can find their opponent, it's hardly necessary. The only two things one might have to worry about are deathtraps, which have sounds associated with them in some cases, and moves that cause your opponent to switch sides with you. As you may know, performing special moves is dependent on hitting the right combination of buttons. A move could be, for example, back, forward, then the C button. However, which direction back or forward is depends on which side of the arena you're on as opposed to your opponent's side. The key is figuring out which moves each player has to change sides, and paying attention to when those moves are performed. Trust me, this is easier than it sounds. Last but not least, I urge you to listen to the MK Armageddon samples I have on my web site: http://www.brandoncole.net. This will give you a fairly good idea of what the game sounds like, and give you a chance to see which character might suit you. It's not going to give you a certainty, as nothing is truly described, but if a certain character sounds cool, well, there ya go. Have fun, and I hope you like the game when you get it. Sincerely, Brandon Che wrote: Hi all, I know some of you have played Mortal Kombat on various consoles. I have ordered MK Armageddon for the Wii, and I am wondering if anyone has advice on how to play MK blind. Are you able to play single player with any level of success? Thanks much for any info. Che ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat
Hello again, Ok. Allow me to try and be a bit more clear. Admittedly, there is no one specific sound that tells you when your opponent has switched sides. However, each individual move of each individual character has its own sound with very very few exceptions. Therefore, it's possible to memorize the moves that cause you to switch sides with your opponent. Teleportation, for instance. And in MK Armageddon, a couple previous MK games as well, Raiden's teleport sounds different than all other teleports. Scorpeon's, for instance. Secondly, there is also no real good way to tell how close you are to your opponent. However, once again, there is a way to pull yourself away or toward them. Some characters have special moves that do it, but if you're playing as one that doesn't, you can tap left or right. If left is back at the time, depending of course on your side, your character will do a sort of grunt as he flips away from his opponent. This will, of course, also tell you which side you're on. If you tap forward twice, you run at your opponent and you hear the footstep sound instead of the flip. And finally, yes, I do beat the computer consistently. On max as well, as long as I stick to my real good characters. I hope that helps. I'd be happy to help you further if you need more. Game on! Che wrote: Ok, thanks for the info man. So are you able to beat the computer by yourself consistently? Also, I am still confused as to how you know if you are close enough to kick or punch your opponent. I realize the two opponents are never too far away to do a projectile hit, but are frequently too far away to kick or punch. Lastly, are you saying there is a special sound made when your opponent goes over your head or vice versa? In other words, is there something to listen for to tell when you are on the other side of your opponent? As I remember from playing MK2 when I was sighted, the combinations depend on what side of your opponent you are, for example Raiden had a back, back, forward move, which would change from left, left, right to right, right, left depending on which side you are on, making it extrememly important to know if you are left or right of your opponent. Thanks again for the info, I will post a review of the game after I get to check it out, should be here tomorrow. Later, Che ___ Gamers mailing list .. Yohandy, review away. heheh. My site can use all the audio I can get for it. People have already found it to be a good resource, and I want to keep it that way. Yohandy wrote: Hello, Some characters such as raiden have teleport moves that will put you directly behind your opponent. Also if you try performing a backward dash, this will provide some distance between you and your opponent. As Brandon said though, do not worry too much about distance. Mortal kombat mainly consists of attacking, then blocking, with a few parries and breakers thrown in for good measure. Battles are very intense and people don't usually run away from their opponents, unless they just like using projectile moves on ya, and you'll find out if that's the case. Let me know once you get the game and I'll help you out. Also Brandon, I can do a review for the PS2 version of the game, or a better sound file,if you're willing to host it. Oh here I go again. Heheh. Yes, I certainly do have two I can suggest. It all depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a large, more questheavy environment, I'd suggest New Moon. The address is: eclipse.cs.pdx.edu port 7680 However, if you're a more combat-intensive person, I'd suggest Godwars 2, as it has what is probably the most full-featured combat system I've ever seen. Re: [Audyssey] Playing with the Wii
I am here to second everything Che already said. The Wii is hilariously fun. The only risk you take is this. Games for the Wii will either be incredibly playable, or not playable at all. It all depends on the application of the unique controls. For the most part, there is no in between. - Original Message - From: shaun everiss [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, May 04, 2007 8:32 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Playing with the Wii wow, excercise and game and access. I have heard this reviewed on the radio and wow, sounds cool. At 11:46 a.m. 5/05/2007, you wrote: Hi all, I purchased a Nintendo Wii last week, and I'm here to share my impressions with my fellow blind gamers. The Nintendo Wii, pronounced we is the latest entry into the video game console market by Nintendo. What makes the Wii unique is the way you interact with the system. Instead of punching buttons, you hold a wireless controller in your hand much like a small TV remote. This controller, called a Wiimote is absolutely amazing. Instead of pushing up and down arrows to select menus, you just point at the menu item you want and click the A button. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to operate the menus because of this, but fortunately this is not the case. When you move the pointer over a menu selection, the Wiimote vibrates slightly, and by memorizing where the different menu items are, you can go right to the menu you want. The Wii comes with a sports disk that contains basic versions of baseball, tennis, golf, bowling and boxing. As a blind player, I can compete quite well with my sighted friends and family with all the games, which is amazing. This is made possible by the unique control system the Wii remote affords. For example, in the bowling game, you hold the remote up in front of you as if you were holding a bowling ball, hold down the B button, then swing your arm back then forward just as if you were tossing a real bowling ball. At the bottom of your swing, release the B key and listen to the pins fall. The faster you swing, the faster your ball goes, and you can even put english on the ball by twisting the remote. Baseball allows you to swing the remote like a bat, and this one takes some good timing, as you need to swing just after hearing the swoosh of the pitch. Tennis can be played the same way, though I had the most trouble getting the timing down for this one. Golf is a real treat, as you hold the remote like a golf club and you really start to get a feel for how hard to hit the ball after some practice. This one requires a sighted friend, as the game does not speak your distance to the pin. The best of the lot in my opinion is boxing, which uses an additional attachment to the remote called the Wii Nunchuck. By holding the Nunchuck in one hand and the main remote in the other, you have the ability to throw punches with either hand, and the system recognizes your glove position at all times, so you can guard your face or body, lean back, left and right to avoid punches and so forth. It is an amazing gaming experience for the blind, and I have yet to be defeated by any of my friends or family, which shows you how well the blind can play these games. Additionally, boxing is a great workout, and you will be sweating after a couple of rounds. Overall, I would highly reccomend this system to any and all accessible gamers out there, especially if you have kids in your family, it is a real blast. If anyone has questions, I'd be happy to answer them if I can. The Wii is 250 dollars, comes with the sports games and a remote and Nunchuck. I bought a second remote and Nunchuck for 50 bucks so I could play head to head with friends. I am sore from boxing, but it is a good sore, like the next day after a good workout. No, you can't tell from which direction the blows are coming from, and I'm sure that my friends would be able to beat me with practice, but you can do amazingly well as a blind player, just like in real boxing, it is all in the timing. One hint for boxing: you throw punches at three different speeds basically, the harder the punch the more recovery time is required, so it is better at times to throw a few light jabs rather than go for the knockdown all at once. My ten year old nephew just throws punch after punch with no patience, so I just wait on him to wear down a bit then beat his brains out, it drives him nuts. The Fight Night franchise is coming to Wii later this year, and should really enhance the boxing experience I hope. I agree. Godwars 2 does indeed have some cool descriptions. I haven't yet gotten into that one much though, as I was, admittedly, thrown off by its unique system of combat and things. I intend to try again, however. - Original Message - From: Zachary Kline [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, March 06, 2007 8:38 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] New Moon Hiya, A good mud for bloody descriptions would be God Wars II. Re: [Audyssey] New Moon
Well, mud stands for Multi-user dungeon. Some muds are just used for chatting and things, but most are used for games. It's basically a specially coded server you connect to with a telnet or mudding client. I don't claim to know a whole lot about how it works though, so I suggest you go to: http://www.randylaptop.com/mudding That site sums it up better than I can. As for new moon, there's a lot I could say about it. The descriptions of everything from spells, to attacks, to scenes in the quests you will find yourself doing are all extremely well-written. The world is large enough to get in some good exploration time, though exploring can prove dangerous if you're not careful. The character creation is not standard. By this I mean you actually go through a cool little mini-quest to set up your character's race, stats, gender, and so on. Player interaction is encouraged, and almost necessary if you hope to get the most out of this mud. I personally think player interaction is great, so this is a major plus for me. There's so much more I could say, but I would prefer to speak more of it in private, or through the use of more specific questions. Heheh. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, March 06, 2007 9:40 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] New Moon hi what's a mud, and I am interested could you tell me more about it. thanks. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] Sryth Lothren whereabouts
Alrighty then, I shall help you. S P O I L E R S P A C E Firstly, Lothron is on Penekarn Lane. You may've run across his wolf guards if you've explored there before, which you might've done if you did the quest involving the actress. So just click on Explore Talonis, and then type in Penekarn Lane, and you'll find him there. Secondly, icons must be attached to special imbuable items which you can only get from Kyul Thainer currently. Honestly, I don't believe any of them are worth getting right now, but it's your call. And yes, I believe they can be removed. And finally, um, well, I'll be honest with ya. I also have no idea which subjects the guildmaster will discuss with you. I never got him to talk either. Heheh. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, February 23, 2007 5:25 AM Subject: [Audyssey] Sryth Lothren whereabouts The subject line says it all pretty much. I have been looking for a while now and no signs of Lothren in Talinus. I also need to know about the wooden icon of ora. Am I right in assuming that I can attach it to any of my items to get the special use out of it, or am I supposed to wait until I meet Lothren to learn how to use it? If I attach it to something, can I detach it? Also, on another subject, the Guild Master is supposed to be knowledgeable about many things right? However, I have been trying to find out things from him, but he isn't too interested or has much of an opinion on it. smile I am assuming that he has some very important knowledge to share with me, so how do I speak with him about it? Thanks in advance. AC ___ Gamers mailing list .. Actually, um, the gem you're thinking of in the monistary is just a small emerald, and isn't part of the Sword of Merzig. Right. I believe our second poster had the Murk confused with Gralgorack's Tomb. Re: [Audyssey] Help with sryth
Your stats are pretty good, but that particular adventure is meant to be difficult for everyone. The key is using blessings of protection in the right places. And to answer your question, you're not supposed to be able to use healing items during combat. The only way to heal yourself in combat is with the power of restoration. Re: [Audyssey] sryth help
You're not doing too bad. If anything's gonna hurt you, it's your might. I can think of a quest, in fact, where i'll become a problem. Alrighty then! Here be your hint from member number 2 of the Tripple B Posse S P O I L E R S P A C E You must get four items, all of which must be unceremoniously thrown into that pot. Re: [Audyssey] Blind Game Authoring Tool (Not Audio Game Maker)
Hi there, As someone who has made a few little tiny Choose Your Own Adventure games, I would like to offer my input. I believe making a Choose Your Own Adventure creator with an audio interface may actually be easier depending on how much you intend to limit people. If you intend to create games that resemble the old-style books, then it would simply be a matter of creating wizard that tells users to put in, for instance, a starting wave file, then asks them how many choices are given for the player's first decision. The creator could specify a number, then add wav files that would basically be the text of each choice being spoken. The creator would turn those ino a menu, so the player could use their arrow keys to cycle through their options. Once an option was selected, the corresponding file could be played and so on and so forth, always with the possibility of an ending. Now if you want to take full advantage of the fact that you're using a computer instead of a printed book, you'll have additional features to worry about. Random events, variables, that sort of thing. None of my adventures are long, but they all demonstrate things you can do with a computer version of that kind of story that you can't do with a book. You are welcome to use those as reference material if you like. Simply hop on over to http://www.brandoncole.net and click on Program Stoof. Yes, I said stoof. Re: [Audyssey] Blind Game Authoring Tool (Not Audio Game Maker)
Well I wouldn't go so far as to say I wrote gamebooks. They're just little adventure programs, written by a novis programmer to serve two purposes. Firstly, to be entertaining. And second, to demonstrate what can be done with that format using PC's. In fact, as short as they all are, there are actually a couple secrets hidden within my third adventure game. heheh. Enjoy them for what they're worth. To expand on what you said though, interactive fiction is definitely different than choose your own adventure, but it sounds like our guy here is talking about the latter more than the former. That's the only reason I said what I did. Wow. You have the most Nevernal energy I've ever seen in a character. To answer your question though, there is only one weapon better, and none of us can get it now. Re: [Audyssey] Dragon Warrior
And to add to that, Tom, I was a large part of the first atempt at this Dragon Warrior thing. If you remember, I was one of the first to receive his fake gameplay recording. I also got a supposed game executable, which turned out to be a bunch of AutoIt code probably copied and pasted directly from the AutoIt manual. I say copy and pasted because the same lines of code appeared multiple times, and I believe it was just code to check for a program's version number or some such thing. I no longer have this script, but I just thought I'd mention the evidence I received for those who hadn't heard before. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2007 1:19 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Dragon Warrior Hi Josh and all, I am not certain that Dragon Warrior is an actual game. It was one of the factors that wound up getting him banned from this forem. According to the recent podcast it still seams like Super Liam with a bunch of new sounds added, and a few other nifty tricks to throw you off. So bottom line I really don't trust Ivan or his word very much. One other thing is in the last Audyssey magazine I remember someone else was supposed to be designing Dragon Warrior, and that person and company was not Ivan. Re: [Audyssey] ps2 games
Hi there, Firstly, Sing Star is probably completely playable for the songs you know, and I'd be willing to bet there's some sort of practice mode where you could learn the songs. To answer your last question though, there are several PS2 games that can be played without assistance. I recommend you visit my web site: http://www.brandoncole.net and click on the gaming section. You can find demonstrations of games we can play, audio samples, and reviews. My only warning is that several spambots have taken it upon themselves to attack the script I use for my articles and reviews, so you'll have to ignore those. I appologize for them, and I'll delete them as soon as I see them, but sometimes somebody stumbles upon them. Kind of embarrassing, really, given the things they advertise. Anyway, enjoy the site, and I hope it helps you find what you're looking for. - Original Message - From: nicol [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Audyssey Blind gaming Gamers discussion list Gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2007 2:02 AM Subject: [Audyssey] ps2 games HI all When I was on holiday I spent time with my brother and his children have a ps2 play station. I played a bit on the play station with the help of my brother's child. He told me which buttons on the joystick to press and it was cool feeling how the joystick vibrates when I kill an enemy. We played a game called ragid and plank. Well that is how you pronounce it. Its really a cool game. I think its almost like treasure hunt. In the game you also shoot a lot of enemies and you have to jump onto leafs and over acid pits. That's really a game I would like to see become accessible. My brother's daughter and me played finding Nemo. It's a game they based on a movie. That would also be nice to see become accessible. And then we played a game called sing star where you have to sing and earn points. The lyrics shows on the screen. Its almost like carioki, the only difference is: the full band sings as usual. You can't take away the artist's voice while singing. For example if we sing up town girl of Billy Joel the original Billy Joel track plays as usual, but then you sing with it. The game is very lenient for it doesn't judge you on how well you know the words but how well you know the tune. My sister's children also had such a sing star game but with tracks on it which is not so popular and easy to sing than the 80s tracks. There was only one song on that cd which I knew and that's a song of the rolling stones from a movie. I new none of the words and my sister's children couldn't read the words to me because it was too quickly changing on the screen but I got the highest points just because I knew the tune; I lha lha lha the whole time on the tune and I was getting the highest score. I earned a medal on that song. You can earn different trophies if I may call them like that. I think the smallest one is a face, then you get a duck, and then a medal. I can't remember the others. A song my sister's youngest girl loved to sing was tick tock. The song begins where the woman is sitting in front of the piano and tries to practice singing a song while accompanying herself, she only sang and played a few notes, then she slammed the piano and stood up and then you hear a clock ticking for a while and then you hear a sound like a car starting up and then the song begins and in the song they sing: What you waiting what you waiting what you waiting for? Can you remember that song? Anyway do you think an accessible sing star is possible? Then one could script jaws to read the words as they come up and in this way you would then listen to the words a few times and then know it by heart later on. Is it possible for a blind person to play games on the ps2 without any sighted assistance? ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] sryth again
Hi, Well, the thing about Gralgorack's tomb is that it scales to your melee. It's meant to be that difficult. However, I can suggest that you use blessings of protection during the last two battles, as it will help you immensely. That combined with the Hail Blade's healing ability will certainly win you that fight. As for other adventures, Sleepless Night is a good one to try, as you'll get a ring that adds 3 more to your melee at the end. To answer your question about bashing, the weaponry subskills influence how well you use certain weapons. So if you wanted Bashing to raise your melee, you would have to be using a bashing weapon of equal or greater value than the slashing weapon you're using now. I am very tempted to ask, though, do you have the skill of weaponry slashing? If not, it would be a major help to you as your melee would increase for every ten levels of it you had while you were using a weapon such as the hail blade. I hope all this nonsense helps some. Good luck. A full compliment means four rings, and one piece of armour of each other type, head, torso, arms, hands, waste, legs, feet, back and tabard. there is also currently one item in the game described as Armour, wrist as well. As to the old cathedral, you need to find and defeat all four guardians to open the exit to the lower level. Just in case you need them, I'll give the directions to the guardians, but if you'd rather find them on your own you'd better stop reading now: guardian 1: from the entrance, head north until you come to an East/west jungction where you should go west, then south, then east, south, and west again. guardian 2: At the previously mentioned east/west junction, head east, then quite a long way south, then east, and finally north. Guardian 3: from the entrance head south, then at the east/west junction go west. Take the first north, then west and south. guardian 4: This time, head east from the previously mentioned junction, then go north until you reach a passage to the west, follow that round to the south and east. to find the entrance to the lower level, just go east from the junction mentioned above (the one south of the entrance. [Audyssey] Somethin bout discussion forums
Hi there, I know my site was the talk of the list for a short time, and because of that I would like to bring up the fact that I have added nearly a zillion new forums to my boards very recently. My boards have basically been dead for a long time, so I ask, no, beg you all to head on over there and post if you've got something cool to say. There's a forum to discuss commercial console and PC gaming, there's a forum for writing weird random stuff, and there's a newly added forum called Never-ending stories for those authors among you. So I beg of you, post. Please? Please please? Sincerely, Brandon ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games?
I don't mean this as an argument, but I consider the games in which the menus can be memorized to be just as accessible as the ones with spoken menus. Sure it takes a bit longer for that accessibility to happen, but that doesn't change the fact that we can pretty much play these games completely. Yes. There are rings that increase your melee substantially. Also, if you're using a one-handed weapon, use a shield as well. Your melee will increase. Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games?
Exactly. The ones I would consider playable but not accessible are games like Lifeline. One can play them completely without needing to know directions to walk around the complex, as you control the game with your voice. However, one would have to know what items were in every room and where they were, as well as the special ways to fight certain monsters, in order for the game to be fully accessible. Or Kingdom Hearts. We blind folk can fight, but we haven't a prayer of finding our way through the game's many worlds. - Original Message - From: Liam Erven [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'Gamers Discussion list' gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Thursday, October 19, 2006 2:06 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games? Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games?
Yes, I see your points, Tom, and I've already given my own personal definitions of accessible and playable as well as examples. My definitions are different than yours, but I think several would have different opinions on this subject. I would like to bring up fighting games, as they are probably the games with the easiest menus except of course for games meant for the younger generation, some of which have no menus at all. Anyway, most fighting games follow a patern with their menus. The first option is almost guaranteed to bring you into the game's arcade mode, the second into the versus mode, and so on. While I can accept your memory wipe situation, I would say that as long as the portion of my memory existed that told me what type of game I was dealing with, I could jump into something like a fighting game fairly quickly. I mean to play MK Armageddon, for instance, all one needs to do is press X twice. The music changes, and you're in the character selection screen. TO me, that'd be enough. To me, that makes Mortal Kombat an accessible game, rather than just a playable one. But as I have already stated, this is simply my own opinion and set of standards. I see where you're coming from as well. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Thursday, October 19, 2006 3:21 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games? Hi Brandon, I think to constructively discuss this matter we need to come up with a common definition for accessible and playable. One does not necessarily mean the other is true. To me personally accessible means that I can grab that PS2 game pop it in the machine, I can play it without having someone tell me what sound x means, use the menus without having to memorise them, or have to have someone teach me the menus. In other words the day I buy the game I can blay it without 0 sighted help. To me playable means it might be accessible but even if it is not 100% accessible I can memorise the menus, sounds, and so forth and one day be able to play it on my own after I memorise the game. Let's play the game of assume for a second. Let's assume we whiped out your memory of how the menus are laid out and what all the sounds mean for a given game. Ok, how are you going to access those menus. Will you fumble around relearning those menus on your own, ask a sighted person to tell you the layout, because at that very second they are usable, but not accessible since you don't have those menus memorised. In fact, one wonders how you learned them in the first place. You can't tell me you baught your PS2 and the first day automaticly without training knew every single menu by memory. You had to have some trial and error, and perhaps some outside help to learn them. Re: [Audyssey] playability of Playstation 2 games?
Yes, there are several PS2 games that are indeed playable. You may want to check out the gameplay demonstrations I have of Mortal Kombat Deception and Armageddon, as both of those games are very playable. Most fighting games and sports games can be played by the blind, and there are even a few outside those two genres that are accessible. I definitely recommend a PS2, or perhaps, just perhaps, a PS3. I used to stay in his flat for endless hours and hours, watching him and my brother play against each other and improve their skills radically every single day, then shyly asking them to let me try it out for a while, feeling the incredible surprise of how well I was able to play it, later fascinating them by my proficiency with scorpion and Raiden, and finally making them open up their mouths in pure astonishment when I was able to beat both the sighted guys in about a minute or so with flawless victory. I can remember it so clearly, just like it was yesterday when we played like that for the last time. However, I can no longer stay in touch with that person, as he had moved to the other side of our country, and I don't unfortunately know anyone else who has PS2 and Mortal Kombat. I can still feel the powerful motivation to sit in front of the console, trying to learn more and even more attacks, moves and combos, wanting to become better and better. I can still hear my brother and our friend forcing me to stop for a while and then playing series of deadly matches against each other, increasing their skills with their favorite characters and preparing to defeat me like hell... Wish I had a PS2 too so that I would be able to play that wonderful game once again... :-) I do surely encourage you to do more recordings, if you find it valuable and interesting, and especially funny for yourself. I would for example really welcome an entire arcade session without any explanations or so, just recorded gameplay, so that I could listen to it carefully, concentrate on all the nuances that can be caught through the sounds and enjoy the nice fights. I wasn't aware that ARmagedon has already been released either. :-) I've already listened to your Deception demo like three times or so and I can still find something new and surprising in it. It also gave me a whole lota new will, interest, power and longing to push the development forward on my own accessible adaptation of the MK style. I wrote an informal update about Lethal Force and sent it to this list several months ago and I haven't really done much since that time. I've just recorded the intro sequence and the announcer, wrote a few lines of the design docs, got one or two small pieces of music ready and searched for several rather basic sounds, but that's all. Now, however, I have started searching for more involved sounds of the required environment, footsteps, punches and so on, have began to enlarge and plan out the design pretty precisely, etc... It will certainly take me a few years to learn a desired programming language and to practice enough so that I'll be able to create such a massive project, but I can start doing something for its release even today... And I do thank you for the impulse... Take care and enjoy Mortal Kombating, Lukas ___ Gamers mailing list .. Yes yes, Yohandy. Do all of it if you can. I want as large an archive of gameplay stuff, especially stuff about Armageddon right now, that I can possibly get. Re: [Audyssey] Sryth
Hi there, I can help ya here. When you are shown a list of items, clicking on the item's name will take it. The information letting you know that you did indeed take it appears in a different frame, however. This may be what is confusing you. Also, clicking on the question mark link by each item will make a description of that item appear in that same lower frame. Hope that helps. Re: [Audyssey] Web-Based Games
Well actually, unless he lowered the price, it's actually $20 a year, and even that's worth it. You can play portions of the game without paying, but there are too many benefits to becoming an adventurer's guild subscriber. Bonus experience, items you can't obtain without subscribing, quests you can't go on without subscribing, and there are a lot of those, places you can't even visit without subscribing, access to pregenerated characters if you don't want to roll your own, and finally, access to the Proving Grounds, which is a special competitive set of adventures put out every couple months or so. The Proving Grounds adventures take the form of a story just like all the others, but you're scored and rewarded based on how well you do compared to other players. So again I say that it is definitely worth it. Wow. In some ways he keeps getting nicer and nicer, and in others, mostly ways that you won't know about until you try certain things in the game, he gets meaner. Sryth is becoming a lot harder for the new arrivals, and that's a shame. For instance, have you seen th price of blessings of protection? Or the Hail Blade? Yeah. Re: [Audyssey] Icons in sryth?
Hi there, Icons can only be fixed to certain weapons that you can only get from the nevernal realm of Kyul Thainer. Unfortunately, none of the imbuable weapons you can buy right now are very good. Hahaa. Still, Kyul Thainer is unfinished, and there are always possibilities of addition in Sryth. Oh, and I don't believe icons can be removed once they've been fixed to a weapon. - Original Message - From: Willem [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 08, 2006 5:57 AM Subject: [Audyssey] Icons in sryth? Re: [Audyssey] Icons in sryth?
Ah yes, but from what I hear, the Nightsong armor will soon be available to every subscriber. I hear he plans on rereleasing all the old proving grounds as standard adventures. I think people will really enjoy that. - Original Message - From: Bryan Peterson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 08, 2006 11:48 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Icons in sryth? Hi, Icons can only be affixed to special weapons. These can be bought in the realm of Kyul-Thanor. If you haven't already been there, you need to explore Talinus and type Penekarn Lane into the edit box that asks for where you want to go. That's P E N E K A R N. Stroll along the lane. The first time you do this you'll meet a beggar offering to sell you a magical item, but it's extremely expensive. Whether you choose to go with him or not, stroll along Penekarn Lane again and you'll see a man entering a door at the end of an alley. Follow him and investigate. After that scene you'll be able to travel to Kyul-Thanor. The Imbuable weapons can be bought from a pair of brothers who operate a forge in the wilderness. I personally don't like this new system. None of the icons are better than the armor and weapons I already have, so I store the icons in my tower in Trithik. If I remember right, once you buy an Imbuable weapon, you select it from your Inventory and use it. Then you can affix an icon or two or three to it. As I said though, I've never found much use for them. It doesn't come close to beating the Giantfell Blde and the Nightsong armor. The Nightsong Amrmor isn't available in he normal game in case you're wondering. It was the prize in the last Proving Grounds contest. The Giantfell Blade is found in the Giants adventure in Hawklor, but you don't want to attempt that one until you have a fairly hi Melee Rating. It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go. Re: [Audyssey] Icons in sryth?
Yeah. I like Lothron. Didn't know he could remove icons though, as, well, I haven't bothered with imbuable weapons. Haah. Also, if you have the skill of Arkana at at least level 30, you can identify stuff yourself and get experience for doing it. Coolness. - Original Message - From: Bryan Peterson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 08, 2006 3:01 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Icons in sryth? Actually, they can be removed. All you have to do is visit Lothren in Talinus, the guy who told you how to get to Kyul-Thanor. He can remove any Nevernal icons affixed to your weapons and, best of all, he can identify your unidentified stuff for free! It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go. Of course, that news is fairly old now. Given the grief he's taken for being so public about things, I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't updated his web site. We likely won't hear a thing from him until Max or this system is completely ready. There's also a ton of other responsibilities and things happening in his life. Hi there, S P O I L E R S P A C E Firstly, Lothron is on Penekarn Lane. Go to Explore Talonis, then type Penekarn Lane into the box. If you haven't visited The Third House yet, do so. There's a quest there as well. Then, choose to Stroll down Penekarn Lane. First you'll find Wenrald the Fence, who is interested in selling you a decent belt. Then, you'll find Lothron. And no, you don't need to beat everyone in the tournament of arms, but I highly recommend it. To get in good graces with that captain, you have to involve yourself in a lot of barfights. Enough to attract his attention. Hope that helps. Sorry, but Monkey Business is definitely not a side scroller. It has a fully 3d environment. The only directions you can't go are up and down. Actually I take that back. There are things you can jump onto. Monkey business is a side scroller and it works like a mario brothers game. True. I guess I didn't really think through my statement before I made it. So, uh, yeah. Forget what I said. Re: [Audyssey] what is monkey business?
First of all, it's Dr. Wobble. Heheeheh. And yes, it actually took a couple hours. You may not realize it, but there was a lot of mixing involved there. I didn't play those levels right in a row. I couldn't have. Notice I skipped two. But man, it was fun to record and put together. - Original Message - From: Charles Rivard [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Monday, September 25, 2006 7:11 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] what is monkey business?
