Wearning my moderators' hat, note that if anyone is caught asking about how to crack legally available games on audiogames.net now they will be dealt with most severely, ie, a single warning then at least three months suspention if not a ful out ban, and if anyone catches such posts please use the report link to let myself and the other moderators know as much. As for cheats, While I agree that using trainers or other cheat programs is not a good thing, I don't think we can officially diciplin people on the forum for doing it sinse it's not directly hurting developement of games. Personally, I am sparing about cheats in accessible games and will only use what the developer has seen fit to put in the game anyway, sinse trying to use game cheater programs just feels severely unfair. This is however just an opinion really. Beware the grue! Hi Joseph, No, that's not an Easter egg. Cheat codes are cheat codes not an Easter egg.As I mentioned in a prior message on this topic Easter eggs are extra content that are A, not usually advertised, and B, usually extra content that has to be unlocked in some way. It can be anything from a secret message that turns out to be a list of the developers who worked on the game, or something really useful like a bonus level to play. Hi Yohandy, That would be nice, but difficult to enforce. Problem is---as has already been said before--you aren't solving anything by revoking a license key whatever. Such people have a mindset it is their God given right to hack, crack, pirate, and do whatever they want with the software. While I hate cheating programs with a passion I also realize if they like the game well enough to pay me money for it that's better than them outright pirating the software. Its for that reason I would probably lock them out of special features like online score posting, out of unlockable trophies, but not disable their license key since they legally paid for it. Cheers! Or in some games a secret room where you can actually talk to caricatures of te developers. One notable such instance is in The Immortal, which is a game known rather infamously for its difficulty and for the rather dauntin list of ways to die. One such method was to find the developers and then lie and say yes to having the coffee pot. The head dev would basically incinerate you. Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough.
Hi Bryan, Actually, there is a far more simple solution to this issue of third-party cheating programs than disabling the end user's registration. It seems to me the easiest solution is A, to check and see if a third-party cheating program is attempting to modify the game, and B, once it has determined someone is engaged in such behavior to display an error message, and then promptly exit the program. In a case like that weather it is in demo mode or a fully registered game the cheating program would end up triggering the game to close. In short, either play fair or not at all. Hehehehehehehe! Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough.
Oh yes, adding cheat protection is a relatively trivial task. You just associate a hash or crc with each value you want to protect, and then you can immediately detect if a given variable has been tampered with and take appropriate action. Crash the game, play a message, create 10 lions right in your location, etc etc. There are already some easter eggs in the game, though of course I took them out for the demo. Smirk. All you'd really need to do would be to set a timer, when that timer expires, create an object (the fruit). There are a couple ways of doing this, the tree object could be removed and be replaced by the tree-with-fruit object, or a fruit object could be added next to a tree. - Original Message - From: Lori Duncan lori_dunca...@hotmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Fri, 25 Nov 2011 22:46:00 - Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough. Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough.
Hi Jessica, Basically, an Easter egg is just some kind of unlockable content that is triggered by a specific action or by reaching a certain point in a game. For example, let's take Pitfall. there have been a number of games in that series. Most of the newer games have an Easter egg where if you do something special in the game it will unlock the original Pitfall game and you can play the classic arcade game as a bonus level. Its a secret feature that can be unlocked thus its an Easter egg. That's not the only kind of Easter egg, but just an example of one that comes immediately to mind. Easter eggs can be anything the developer throws in as extra content for fun or some secret feature that can be unlocked. In short, its a surprise feature not advertised. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough.
I hate that cheating junk. If I were you, the repercussions for such an action would be to unregister their copy and provide them with no refund. it'll serve them right. - Original Message - From: Philip Bennefall phi...@blastbay.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, November 25, 2011 7:09 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough. Smirk. I've already done so, however I didn't keep the recording due to the fact it took a year for a bore to get killed for that particular playthrough, and it would've been quite boring to listen to haha. I hope the final game has cool trophies and unlockables. I wanna do insane difficult things no one in their right mind would try. Also Philip, I just thought of something. Have you encrypted the game's data once it's loaded into memory? Reason I ask is, some people in the community have been using cheating programs to edit game values in realtime. there's a Q9 cheat file floating around as a matter of fact. This is very bad if you're considering adding scoreboards, trophies etc, as people will just lock in the values and get just about anything without earning it. - Original Message - From: Philip Bennefall phi...@blastbay.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, November 25, 2011 5:38 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Perilous Hearts hero playthrough. Impressive! Getting through level 1 without murdering a single one of God's creatures. Smirk. Now can you do it without getting hurt to boot?
