MQ Reason Code 2009 for Websphere MQ V6 z/OS

2011-12-14 Thread Jacky Bright
 Hi,

Application of BizTalk 2006 using IBM MQSC Client V6 to MQ for z/OS V6 for
one Queue XYZ

Application throws intermittently Reason Code 2009. However, in spite of
this error message is successfully posted in destination Queue. Application
retransmits the message after retry interval which in turns results in
message posting to destination Queue twice.

Application also try to connect to other Queues ABC but not as frequent as
that of XYZ. And application does not throw error while posting message to
ABC.

Is this known bug in IBM MQ ?

Thanks Regards,
Jacky

WLM Service Class assignment Order

2009-06-04 Thread Jacky Bright
Can anyone tell me how WLM decides which service class to assign to CICS
Subsystem ?

I have following Classification Rules defined in system.

For the type CICS following are the entries :

  Qualifier Qualifier Starting Service Report
# type name position ClassClass
- -- -- -
1 SI RTGCICS CICS1TP RTG3T
2 . TN . M* CICS1TP IASP
2 . TN . V*CICS1TP NDSAP
1 SI R1%CICS CICSSLA

and For the type STCS following are the entries :

  Qualifier Qualifier Starting Service Report
# type name position ClassClass
- -- -- -
1 SYGABCRL SYSSTC
2 . TN . R1%CICS CICSSTC RCICS
2 . TN . E%CICS CICSSTC ECICS
2 . TN . R%CICS CICSSTC FCICS

In my SDSF for DA panel I can see that for R*CICS region the Service Class
is CICSSTC.

But confused whether there is any significance for the entry defined for
type CICS. i.e. CICSSLA service Class.

Re: Pricing of Software Licenses

2009-05-01 Thread Jacky Bright
Yes. We do have sub-capacity pricing, but to generate SCRT report we need
Type 70 records for which either CMF or RMF Required. So its necessary to
have RMF or CMF.

Now that this topic has come up its worth discussing pricing of softwares. I
have a question here. If your utilisation is consistently more that 80-85%
of overall CPC capacity then is it worth going for sub-capacity pricing ? I
have not done any research on this but came to know from one sales guy that
I sub-capacity pricing is 10% more than PSLC charges.

Does anyone have any idea about this ?

DFHSM Issue - Critical

2009-03-04 Thread Jacky Bright
Hello,

Since last 2-3 days observing very strange behaviour of DFHSM. In the
midnight DFHSM is not responding to any migration and recall request. Its
started task DFHSM is not taking any CPU.

But it was responding to all DFHSM QUERY commands. Tried cancelling ACTIVE
REQUESTS using CANCEL USER and CANCEL DATASET , CANCEL REQUEST commands.
But not a single request got cancelled. But most of the waiting requests
were cancelled.

Finally we had to CANCEL the DFHSM started task and Restarted and then it
started working fine.

Also observed that this issue occurred when CDS backup process was running.
In the QUERY ACTIVE output could see that ARC0142I CDS BACKUP, CURRENTLY IN
PROCESS

I am not able to see any error messages. Probably my brain stopped
working. Any idea on this ?

Re: DFHSM Issue - Critical

Yes. Backing up directly to VTS Tape.

No no Backvol CDS command. HSM itself takes the backup of CDS.

Observed that when CDS backup is going on many MIGRATE VOLUME commands
issued externally.

Jacky, Are you backing up to tape? If YES, Is there a lot of concurrent
 tape activity?
Are you submitting a Backvol CDS command separately from normal HSM
 operations?
Is the time you submit the CDS Backup command in conflict with Backups or
 Space Mgt.?

Allan, I find that CDS Backups run before my Incremental Backups but then
I've always scheduled Backups before Secondary Space Mgt. Is it possible
that HSM automatically backs up the CDS datasets before the first major
automated process after midnight whether it is Primary or Secondary Space
Mgt. or Incremental Backups if the CDSVERSIONBACKUP parameter is coded in
Parmlib? I haven't found a clear description in the FMs.

 BTDTGTTS,

This is what has been colloquially known as a 'fatal embrace' and is not
 just limited to DFHSM.
In my experience this has been caused by multiple HSM functions running
in parallel with w/DFHSM CDS backup.

The CDS backup enqueues exclusively and seperately on all three CDS's
and the journal. If both (typically) backup and migrgration are running
concurrently with the CDS backup, CDS backup can't get all of the
 datasets needed to complete.
CDS backup is, however, designed to run concurrently with normal HSM
 operation.

The simplest solution is to move the CDS backup to some other time of
 day.

Note: Secondary space management will always take a CDS backup at the
 beginning of its cycle.

2008-10-17 Thread Jacky Bright

You were correct. Thanks for that. with NSLOOKUP I have tested.

What is surprising that I did not have to REFRESH the RESOLVER. I just
changed the SYS1.TCPPARMS(TCPDATA) NSINTERADDR address and then issued the
TSO NSLOOKUP and it was taking that new IP address value.

Whatever IP address I mentioned same was being queried while performing
 operations related to NSLOOKUP.

I could not find anything like this in manual. My OS is z/OS 1.7, is it
that for 1.7 you just need to change the NSINTERADDR parm it will work ? No
 need to refresh RESOLVER.

With the introduction of the resolver function a few releases back, you
 got a
new configuration data set called the resolver setup data set. It is the
 only
data set which is used directly by the resolver procedure and, as I
 indicated
before, it is optional since you can accept all the default values. The
statements in this data set, even by default, refer in turn to the
 TCPIP.DATA
[1] data set and the means by which you have defined it.

Fear not, the new specifications you have entered into your TCPIP.DATA set
are now in effect. The process of refreshing the resolver procedure
 causes
the TCPIP.DATA data set to be revisited. The description under MODIFY
command—Resolver address space in the IP System Administrator's
Commands manual specifically assures us that the TCPIP.data information is
 refreshed.

I tried to see if there was a command in the IP System Administrator's
Commands which showed the current NSINTERADDR statement specifications -
and failed! I do know that, when you use the NSLOOKUP command, you are
told the name server - or, I believe, name servers - which are referenced
 in
order to resolve the query. I also know that you get typically far more
information than you thought you needed when you slip the TRACE RESOLVER
statement into your TCPIP.DATA data set.

As this is the first time you have encountered the revised resolver
 function,
you have some reading to do. You should start with the
section Understanding resolvers in Chapter 2, Configuration overview
 in the
IP Configuration Guide manual. You will need a quick visit to the UNIX
 System
Services Planning manual in order to find out precisely how to get your
 own
RESOLVER procedure which will enable you to specify your own resolver
 setup
statements, the ones you find so confusing!

Of course, as usual, you will find details about the statements in the IP
Configuration Reference manual - just before the TCPIP.DATA statements are
 explained.

[1] You are probably aware that the TCPIP.DATA data set can be specified
 in
a number of ways, including as SYS1.TCPPARMS(TCPDATA). The way to refer
to the data set generically is to use the original name used by TCP/IP for
 VM,
the product from which CP/IP for MVS was derived which, in turn became the
 Communications Server IP component.

The command you need is START
 IEESYSAS.RESOLVER,PROG=EZBREINI,SUB=MSTR

Not so very obvious is it?

The reason for this command is twofold:

 1. You are using only default values for the resolver configuration file so
 no
configuration file DD-statement is needed and, when no DD-statement is
needed, the only logical statement which is needed in the started task
 procedure is

 // EXEC PGM=EZBREINI

 2. z/OS - not Communications Server - very kindly provides a generalised
started task procedure with the name IEESYSAS which I think does absolutely
nothing - have a look at it, I can't - except to enable some tricks
 permitted
by JCL, one of which is to override the value of the PGM operand and
 another
is the ability to change the procedure name - thereby frustrating some who
have searched their procedure libraries in vain for a member named
 RESOLVER!

This subtlety is described in the IP Configuration Guide under Managing
 the
 resolver address space.

Most likely due to the old proclib being in a different physical
location on the volume or even on a new volume than the newly allocated
dataset. If you have an alternate jes2 proclib concatenation defined you
can force a reopen of the proclib concatenation by submitting a job with
a jobparm requesting that alternate proclib concatenation which should
force a close of the primary concatenation and an open of the
 concatenation that you requested.

Once another job gets converted using the default concatenation JES2
should reopen the proclib datasets which will then find the new location
 of the dataset.

Most likely due to the old proclib being in a different physical
location on the volume or even on a new volume than the newly allocated
dataset. If you have an alternate jes2 proclib concatenation defined
 you
can force a reopen of the proclib concatenation by submitting a job
 with
a jobparm requesting that alternate proclib concatenation which should
force a close of the primary concatenation and an open of the
  concatenation that you requested.

Once another job gets converted using the default concatenation JES2
should reopen the proclib datasets which will then find the new
 location
  of the dataset.

Re: JES2 DD Concatenation issue

2008-03-28 Thread Jacky Bright
My point is why CATALOG address space is not considering the new volume
RBI035 why is it that still expecting RBI031 even though I have recreated
the SCLM1.PROCLIB with catalog option and it got created in RBI035. If I see
the LISTC for SCLM1.PROCLIB it shows the volume as RBI035

Error as :

 IEC143I 213-04,IFG0194D,JES2,JES2,PROC13-0003,9800,RBI031,SCLM1.PROCLIB

Why the catalog is still expecting the dataset from RBI031 itself ?

 Jacky,

You cannot move a JES2 JCL defined PROCLIB while JES2 is up. If it is in
 an
SMS Managed pool, you probably need to look at coding PROCLIB statements
 in
 JES2 rather than the JCL.

 Mark makes a valid point.
When JES2 had JCL coded PROCLIBs they are not ENQUEUED so if your security
product does not have the general access of READ and only a few groups
 that
have ALTER, you can have these types of issues.

I would recommend that your security product specify a UACC of READ (if
 you
are a RACF Shop) and only the group responsible to support JES2 have
 ALTER.

When a JES2 JCL defined proclib is delete JES2 does not care. Once JES2
 has
opened the PROCLIB data set it builds a TTR list and uses that rather than
going back to the dataset. It just reads the TTR pointers it built for
 that
data sets. I do not have the in depth details on how that works, but if
 you
are interested, I am sure there are several on this list (like Mark Z)
 who
 can provide that.

Once the TTRs are built, if the data set is deleted, JES2 just goes on
 using
those TTRs to access the procs. Should you compress JES2 JCL defined
proclib you can run into similar issues, though I think you the a HASP
message that states an I/O error has occurred.

My preference has always been for the use of JCLLIB statements in
Application JCL, and PROCLIB statements to reduce these types of errors in
 JES2.

Should the recommended actions not correct the problem, you will most
 likely
need to bounce JES2 so it can find the new home of the proclib data set
 and
rebuild its TTRs. If you do need to abend JES2 you do not need to stop
work. However, I think things that use the SAPI interface may abend with
JES2. This is like VPS or similar products. IIRC, I have abended JES2
 and
not really seen any issues with currently running work.

 That RBI1.PROCLIB was deleted! ;-)

Even though the library is not ENQed by JES2 (due to the NODSI entry in
the PPT) the library is still in use. If the proclib is defined in the
 JES2
 JCL
you'll have to $PJES2,ABEND and restart JES2. If you are using dynamic
proclibs, just issue $TPROCLIB(*) and that should fix it.

Once JES2 has started the CATALOG is no longer part of JES2's process to
 find its JCL defined Proclibs.

JES2 builds an internal table that probably holds information like the
 data
set name, the volser and the TTR locations in that dataset for the PROCs.

You can with the appropriate ALTER authority go out and delete - define -
catalog the JES2 PROCLIB anywhere. JES2 does not enqueue this data set.
Therefore the CATALOG and JES2 can disagree on where the proclib actually
 lives.

The only way to get this correct is to reallocate the proclib back on the
original volume in the original location and pray that no one has already
overlaid the TTRs where the JES2 Proclib use to live.
Otherwise, if the proclib on the new volumes is good, you will need to
bounce JES2 (HOT START) This is done with a $PJES2,ABEND. You will need
 to
reply with the appropriate response. JES2 will then find the new home for
 this JCL defined Proclib.

Mainframeme and NNM Integration

2008-01-04 Thread Jacky Bright
Hi,

We are sending SNMP Traps from the mainframe to NNM Server. NNM Server is
able to receive those trap messages. But the strange thing in whenever NNM
Server is trying snmpwalk command to identify the traps based on the

server.

Does any hav an idea about mainframe and nnm integration ? Normally,
whenever we send SNMP Traps from the Windows Servers or network devices the
traps received in the NNM Server are of particular format. But when we send
from the mainframe the traps are of different formats.

 If so fix that first.
Once fixed is the device being managed by MIM or MIA? If yes try to vary

If this doesn't work then try a MVS vary.

You'd probably be better off asking this over on CICS-L, but there is a
limit of 32K to the size of a DFHCOMMAREA. Are your developers expecting
 to
be able to have DFHCOMMAREA 32K? If yes, they should use Channels and
 Containers instead of DFHCOMMAREA.

Logical PRocessor assignment - Processor Weight

2007-10-08 Thread Jacky Bright
Hi,

I have 823 MIPS processor Y02-2096 z9BC

I have 4 LPARS and 2 CF

PRODA
DEVEA
TESTA
MAINA
HSCF1
HSCF2

My requirement is to allocate
400 MIPS to PRODA
200 MIPS to DEVEA
200 MIPS to TESTA
23 MIPS to MAINA

It should be capped so that LPARS can not use more than allocated MIPS. I am
not sure what weight to be assigned to HSCF1 and HSCF2 ?

What should be my Change LPAR Control Panel settings so that this can be
achived ?

 1. You need to cap the LPAR at the 200 MIP level. (on the panel I
believe it's a check box under Initial Capping) If you have 2 LPARs
on a 1000 MIP machine, for example, and all CPs are shared, you could
weight the capped LPAR at 20 and the other at 80. (20/100=.2,
 .2*1000=200)
 2. Yes, it can be changed dynamically.

This is a simple explanation...apply it carefully to your environment!

I am facing AMQ9558 error whenever there is any link problem. Even though

On AIX box it shows AMQ9558 error
AMQ9558: Remote Channel is not currently available.

EXPLANATION:
The channel program ended because the channel 'PRODAIX.TO.MF' is not

1. Print data set and delete
2. Delete data set without printing
3. Keep data set - Same

4. Keep data set - New

db2 question

2007-02-09 Thread Jacky Bright

Hi ..

few clarifications

1)
After Revoking DBADM authority from user, is it necessary to bind all plans
and packages associated with that user ?
In our system in SYSTABAUTH there are few entries related to
packages(grantees) for which AUTHHOWGOT field is D and grantor is user
having dbadm authority.
In case I remove DBADM authority from GRANTOR, will that affect operations
of applications even if Grantor has execute prvilege on all packages.

2)
when we say SET CURRENT SQLID = 'XYZ' while exeucuting any query what is
mean by this ..

Understandably If user ABC is part of group XYZ and database rights are
assigned to XYZ then while executing any query thru ABC user we have to give
current SQL ID as XYZ.

You should be able to get that information from SMF, if you have the
telnet server set up to log SMF records. I don't think it will log to a
file.
