Re: C macro processor - supply exteranl values - emulating CMake

2018-09-17 Thread Ze'ev Atlas
Gil, I do NOT use make! I use JCL for this particular port, as it is designed
to be used without Unix Services.

In my day job, I use Solaris, Windows and perhaps Linux and I am well aware
about these tools (make, gcc, etc.) although usually I do not use them because
I do not use compiled languages that much any more.

On a Linux system, I downloaded and unpacked:
curl -fOD - https://ftp.pcre.org/pub/pcre/pcre2-10.32.tar.gz

In src/config.h.in I read about several options.
In environments that support the GNU autotools, config.h.in is converted into
config.h by the "configure" script. In environments that use CMake,
config-cmake.in is converted into config.h. If you are going to build PCRE2 "by
hand" without using "configure" or CMake, you should copy the distributed
config.h.generic to config.h, and edit the macro definitions to be the way you
need them. You must then add -DHAVE_CONFIG_H to all of your compile commands,
so that config.h is included at the start of every source.

Note that CMake is one of the three options, not required.

With other products on z/OS, I have had good success using the "autotools"
scheme.

When I run configure, the line:
../pcre2-10.32/Makefile.in:PCRE2_HAVE_STDINT_H = @PCRE2_HAVE_STDINT_H@

Is transformed to:
../bunsen/Makefile:PCRE2_HAVE_STDINT_H = 1

No need to do a bunch of DEF() or hand editing.

Just Read the Instructions,

For the archives, as promised. My shorter solution to Sri's excellent tutorial
worked as I needed.

One small (but critical!) typographical error:

  REFORMAT FIELDS=(F2:1,4,?,F2:6)

Should be instead:

  REFORMAT FIELDS=(F2:1,4,?,F2:5)

I missed that error when pasting for my earlier reply.

Thanks again Sri!

Peter,

You can get the unmatched header and trailer records from F2 file, but you
just need to handle it a bit differently.Since I don't have the input
data here is something that I made up. I assumed that the header is denoted by
all 0's in position 5 and trailer all 9's in position 5. Since you are matching
the keys the header and trailer may not be in their original positions, so in
order to preserve the position we need to tag the header as 0 and detail
records as 1 and the trailer record as 9.

Re: SORT JOIN help needed - matched F2 only plus unmatched F2 hdr/trlr?

2018-09-17 Thread Sri h Kolusu
Peter,

You can get the unmatched header and trailer records from F2 file, but you
just need to handle it a bit differently.Since I don't have the input
data here is something that I made up. I assumed that the header is
denoted by all 0's in position 5 and trailer all 9's in position 5. Since
you are matching the keys the header and trailer may not be in their
original positions, so in order to preserve the position we need to tag the
header as 0 and detail records as 1 and the trailer record as 9.

Alas, the header does not include any e-mail address that cannot be spoofed.
OTOH, the RECEIVED header field inserted by your e-mail provider cannot be
spoofed.

May be Ginny & friends don't want to be left out of all this cool cloud talk at
the parties, so they made the claim. It's not like that there is a Cloud(TM)
certifying authority that will shut them up :). Service bureaus were surely
very much like clouds but were not called clouds and there are not many left
that would let you run your own z/OS instance today.

Re: Help With PENDING OFFLINE Devices

2018-09-17 Thread Mike Schwab
If you are varying volumes offline, I assume they are being emptied,
and your list above shows just catalogs. About 3 years ago, I needed
to Reorg some of our catalogs, using
 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1II13354 .

First, I would run the IDCAMS LISTCAT ALL command. This will list all
aliases and datasets in that catalog. For catalogs with nothing but
aliases, you can just delete the Aliases in the master catalog,
deallocate the catalog from the catalog address space, and delete the
catalog, using some of the commands from the IBM Info APAR above. If
there are datasets in the catalog, you need to follow *ALL* the
procedures in the IBM Info APAR above to move the catalog to a
different volume, which will require an outage for the datasets in the
catalog.. Or if you don't want to take an outage to move the just the
catalog then you can move the entire volume to a new UCB with TDMF,
FDRPAS, Etc without an outage.

Once the catalog is off the volume then you can vary the volume
offline and re-init as spare.

SORT JOIN help needed - matched F2 only plus unmatched F2 hdr/trlr?

2018-09-17 Thread Farley, Peter x23353
Using the "Smart DFSORT Tricks" manual, section "No match, VB, key in different
places, duplicates", I understand how to get the NOT matched records from file
2.

I need to get the MATCHED records from file 2 plus the always-un-matched header
and trailer records from file 2 in one output file.

The basic task is matching a file of keys-to-be-included (F1) with a data file
(F2) containing those keys in a different position with many possible
duplicates. All duplicates in F2 are to be kept. The data file (F2) also
contains a header (assume a key of all zeroes) and a trailer (assume a key of
all 9's) that never match. Key length is 7 bytes.

This (modified) example from the PDF will get me the UN-matched F2 records:

//JK8 EXEC PGM=SORT
//SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//IN1 DD DSN=... input file1 (FB/40)
//IN2 DD DSN=... input file2 (VB/1000)
//SORTOUT DD DSN=... output file (VB/1000)
//SYSIN DD *
JOINKEYS F1=IN1,FIELDS=(1,7,A)
JOINKEYS F2=IN2,FIELDS=(33,7,A)
JOIN UNPAIRED,F2,ONLY
OPTION COPY
/*

How do I get MATCHED records from F2 only plus unmatched header and trailer
from F2 in one output file?

TIA for any assistance you can offer.

Peter

Re: IBM Z and cloud

2018-09-17 Thread Mohammad Khan
May be Ginny & friends don't want to be left out of all this cool cloud talk at
the parties, so they made the claim. It's not like that there is a Cloud(TM)
certifying authority that will shut them up :). Service bureaus were surely
very much like clouds but were not called clouds and there are not many left
that would let you run your own z/OS instance today.

Re: Help With PENDING OFFLINE Devices

2018-09-17 Thread Dana Mitchell
For datasets allocated by your TSO session, if you issue 'ddlist' command, you
can look for datasets that you currently have allocated that are on the volumes
in question. Once found, you will have to discern if they are allocated in the
actual logon proc, or logon clist or rexx, or dynamically and deal with them
accordingly.

For CATALOG, issue console command 'F CATALOG,ALLOCATED(vvv)' where
vv= volser, to see what catalog(s) are on the volume that will need to be
moved.

2018-09-17 Thread Lizette Koehler
There are probably vendor tools (shareware, freeway, $$$) that can help. You
need to identify what datasets are on the DASD that are OPEN.

However, you will need to do this manually

What files are on the DASD?

Who do they belong to? Is there something like a DUMP dataset used by an STC

Is there something writing output to SYSPRINT that is a dataset on the DASD

JES2 could be a PROCLIB, but could also be something else

Could the JES2 INIT DECK be in a dataset on a volume?

You can use

D GRS,RES=(*,dataset-name-here)

You might need to do each and every dataset until you find the culprit(s)

very strange, that should show

PROCLIB(PROC00)
PROCLIB(PROC00) STATIC PROCLIB,

STATIC PROCLIB's and dynamic proclib's allocated.
using $DPROCLIB ? did you try that?

vary the device address back online and look at the dataset entries on the
volume via 3.4 or ISMF, that may give you a clue as to what had the volume
allocated.

Re: Help With PENDING OFFLINE Devices

2018-09-17 Thread Mark Jacobs - Listserv

Ok. Then you don't have dynamic proclib enabled.

You'll have to look in your JES2 procedure and see if any of the allocated
proclib datasets are on those volumes. If so, you'll have to do some ugly work
to get JES2 to unallocate those volumes.

FYI,

This is a tremendous loss for all of us. Ken Tomiak was a prolific
developer, and shared his knowledge freely. When I was the Rexx Project
Manager at SHARE in the mid-2000's, Ken became a fixture with his Rexx
coding sessions. The room was always packed, and Ken would create
inch-thick handouts of Rexx code. He was the Rexx TCP/IP socket
interface guru, and his code shows that. The fact that he left his code
to the CBTTAPE shows the kind of guy he is.

As a friend, I'd lost touch with Ken over the last decade, chatting with
him briefly on the phone or in Email about once a year. I regret that
in light of his passing. Please take every opportunity to interact with
the people that are important to you, for you never know when they will
be gone.

RIP, my friend.

Tom Conley

I would also be interesting in hearing any success stories. One of my
colleagues is currently investigating a “failure story”. It looks like the
failure is due to AWS requiring some of the newer encryption protocols which
our current level of z/OS (2.2) doesn’t support. My colleague is trying to see
if there’s some maintenance that would add support, but so far hasn’t found
anything.

Re: Running ISPF's 3.5 utility from a clist

2018-09-17 Thread ste...@copper.net
I'm using this post to try to answer another related post that I just can't
find right now (my desktop Linux system crashed, so I am forced to use a
webmail interface... It is a pain, but it kinda works).

There was a question about why one is doing this external to ISPF so that one
doesn't have the stats.

Well, if you are using Panvalet and want to get the stats to ISPF, you will
have to make them up. Panvalet does have an off load, but if you use it, you
get NO stats. If you want stats you have to use a PAN#2 execution and tell it
that you want the directory info with the "extdir" option. Now you get to take
that output and massage it into ISPF stats info. You can do that for each
member (as it comes out in member order). And there is some info that matches
what ISPF does and some info that just does not. Then I used LMMSTATS to make
it all happen.

I've just been down this road (pan to PDSE).

And I think the same problem holds true with Librarian and if one is migrating
from DOS to z/OS with ICCF (been years since I've touched that one).

Now let us assume that you have been doing development off mainframe and you
want the stats from the file system where you are importing from

These are just a few reasons why one would need to "make up" stats.

Regards,
Steve Thompson

If you final requirement is to move only the catalog entries from one MCAT to
another, and I emphasize MOVE, then you can use wildcards
THIS IS JUST AND EXAMPLE

//UCATDVR DD DSN=CATALOG.MASTER.ZOSV1R13,DISP=SHR
//UCATNEW DD DSN=CATALOG.USERCAT.ZOSV2R1,DISP=SHR
//DD1 DD VOL=SER=MVSSMP,UNIT=3390,DISP=OLD
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN DD *
REPRO ENTRIES(SMPE.JAVA71.**) -
INFILE(UCATDVR) OUTFILE(UCATNEW) MERGECAT FILE(DD1)

you can specify ENTRIES(SYS1.PLPA.**) also for example

Hi Peter,

Once you have completed the configuration and have all volumes and paths
defined, use the mkpprc and rmpprc commands to 'make' or 'remove' copy pairs.

E.g. something like;
mkpprc -dev IBM.2107-serial1 -remotedev IBM.2107-serial2 -type mmir -mode full
-critmode A001-A06F:3001-306F rmpprc -dev IBM.2107-serial1 -remotedev
IBM.2107-serial2 -at src -quiet A001-A06F:3001-306F

Note: serial1 and serial2 will be the serial numbers for the local and remote
arrays - make sure this is the correct way around! These examples set up pairs
for a range of CKD volumes, i.e. A001>3001, A002>3002, A003>3003 etc up to
'6F'. You can do one at a time.

You'll get lots of messages like;
CMUC00153I mkpprc: Remote Mirror and Copy volume pair relationship 3001:A001
successfully created.

There's also the failoverpprc and failbackpprc commands for disaster recovery
situations but I've not really played with these much so can't advise on these
but they may be worth further reading.

thanks,
Simon

The COD is built as a more-or-less normal z/OS ServerPac, with
operational data sets added to provide a functional system you can use
for z/OS installationm then stripped down and put on DVD with standalone
DSF and DSS. ("There is no magic.")

As Parwez said, get the Redbook. There are a number of other steps
involved, such as creating or editing an IOCDS, configuring the disk
arrays, and so on, and all of them should be covered in the book.

The hook produced an 0C4 but that served the purpose. The TCB chain is

This doesn't tell what model it is. What does D M=CPU show?

4 CPUs and 66 MSU for a z13s suggests that it is a 2965-F04.
If you look at the LSPR data at

you can see that a full speed z13s (2965-Z04) is 622 MSU,

tips does not work anymore. I apologise for any inconvenience. Maybe I will fix this
problem some day, but I will not make any promises".

I posted a reply to him, requesting the source of information for his assertion that IBM had CLOSED DOWN Bookmanger
internet access, and with a link to assurances given here that the outage is "unplanned",
"unintentional", to "stay tuned" and that "work is under way to restore access to it as
quickly as possible".

I have yet to hear a reply, but am nonetheless unconvinced he doesn't have some
kind of insider knowledge we lack. And that the lack of any further assurances
from John, Scott or Susan on the matter also has me very concerned. Claus
isn't the only one with hundreds of published links to pages on the Bookmanager
site which no longer work and will never work again unless access is restored.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I have been on vacation the past two
weeks and do not know the current state of affairs. I can try to find
out what's happening with this later today if time allows and the people
I'd need to ask about it are available.

Thanks for the warning on degaussing Timothy! I appreciate it! We chose not
to use encryption, why I'm not sure. If there's a next time, that'll happen!

Re: ASCRE and ACEE inheritance

2018-09-17 Thread Robin Atwood
I will have to put an XDC hook in the initialisation exit and poke around.
It looks like the temporary data sets at least have been allocated. We don't
get this problem with systems where
TEMPDSN is not active in RACF.

An RCF will perhaps clarify the situation but I don't think it will solve my
problem!

Thanks
Robin

My bad. The flag had been set by GMX, and I badly missed to remove it from
the subject when replying. I recognized after sending, and for a quick
moment thought to correct and resend, but then decided otherwise. Ag...
I'm sorry.

>I am not sure where the original ACEE of the child STC is coming from since
both it and the parent STC have similar JCL procedure names that match to
the same RACF rule. So the ACEE could be coming from the RACF rule or it
could be inherited (like with forked address spaces or jobs submitted via
internal reader). My problem is that there seem to be two sets of rules in
play: the data sets allocated by JCL get the original STC's ACEE and the
dynamically allocated ones get the new ACEE I set in the address space
initialisation exit (in ASXBSENV). The doc states that the initialisation
exit runs before the JCL procedure but perhaps some JCL processing happens
at the same time.

I'm surely not authoritative to write "this is how it works", but the
statement "It executes in the new address space before the procedure
identified by SYS1.PROCLIB." Is foggy. A procedure is not executed, programs
are. Your problem makes clear that this part of the documentation should be
enhanced:

- Is the INIT routine run under the region control task, or under the stated
task control task (I suspect the latter)?
- Have any allocations asked for via DD statement in the procedure already
been done? Your observation seems to indicate: yes, they have.

Would an RCF be sufficient?

Peter-
Apologies for the delay in replying but your response got flagged as spam
